Capcom released Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak at the end of last month, and while it's got a full roadmap planned for this new DLC, over the weekend there were reports of the 'Monster Hunter 6' title and platforms leaking on Discord.
Following on from the Capcom leaks in 2020 (making mention of Monster Hunter 6), it was believed a Discord developer mode leak had revealed evidence of a new game called 'Monster Hunter Paradise'. A code unable to be redeemed also apparently uncovered the platforms this game would be on - Xbox, PlayStation, PC but not the Switch.
However, as reported by VG247, Monster Hunter Paradise probably isn't the next game in the series - it's seemingly a made-up placeholder name, likely created by a "Monster Hunter fan" on Discord's development team. Here's what happened in the words of Twitter user MHKogath:
"The #MonsterHunter fan on the Discord dev team got busted for making up a MH name as a placeholder so they had to change it."
The Twitter user of the original discovery (@neonaga99) went on to suggest it wouldn't make sense for Capcom to openly name such a high profile project on the backend of a third-party service like Discord. Normally codenames are used instead.
Case closed!
Whether or not a Nintendo system will receive the next major Monster Hunter game is currently unknown at this stage. The next entry is expected to be a follow-up to Monster Hunter World, which was released on every modern game platform in 2018, except for a Nintendo device.
Capcom has previously said "no" to Monster Hunter World coming to the Nintendo Switch on multiple occasions. When the game was originally in development, the Switch hadn't even been announced, and Capcom opted with the most "powerful" current generation consoles at the time.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has already sold 3 million units worldwide, with Capcom also revealing the base game has sold 10 million units globally. In contrast, Monster Hunter World has sold around 18 million units since it was launched.
Would you like to see the next major Monster Hunter game come to a Nintendo system? Does Nintendo maybe need to perhaps release some more powerful hardware to encourage Capcom? Tell us your own thoughts in the comment section.

....Yeah it's not real, or it's a spinoff or something.
Liam, it was confirmed to be fake, which that site fails to edit in their article.
If they were to make another one, it better be on switch.
I'm not going to comment on the validity of this, but I will always hope for future entries to be present on Nintendo's hardware. One of the biggest selling points for me with the series was portability. I skipped World because it lacked that. I think the best thing for the series would be both PC and Switch releases along with either cross play or cross save functionality. I sincerely hope that Capcom listens to the feedback people have been giving about that. I know I'd be tempted to pick up the game twice for cross save.
I've updated the article with the most recent developments.
I love rise/sunbreak. Its more or less all im playing atm but i do hope they make a new one for the PS5 as World looked really good and made use of the extra console power. I couldnt go back to World without some sort of wirebug to dart around the maps with tho, and the online seriously sucked. Far too difficult to play with a friend last week that i was trying to get in to the series. Too many hoops to jump through, unlike Rise. He had to watch all the missions cut scenes before it would allow him to play that mission in co op 🤷‍♂️. We just gave up in the end. For someone who is sceptical of the series he left the party feeling no different.
Too bad, thought it would be like Extreme Voleyball Paradise
@Mrkittyhead I doubt it unless nintendo does another deal with them to make another exclusive a new one will still be years away & they'll be focusing on newer hardware
Paradise does sound like a cool name for a monster hunter game tho.
Had a good laugh with people believing in this.
Sure at some point there will be a new game, but not in the coming 1 or 2 years.
World was only "World" as a precaution in case its changes weren't received well and they could call it a spin-off, but it performed fanatically so I have a feeling they'll just go back to numbering them, plus the old Nvidia leak did list it as "Monster Hunter 6"
Switch got Rise. Let Xbox Series X/S and PS5 and PC have this next MH game. It doesn’t need to be on Switch when Switch just got Rise/Sunbreak.
Take me down to the Rathalos city where the grass is green and the lizards are pretty...
Cool temp name, doesn't exactly scream Monster Hunter though, at least to me.
I think the next one will be for next gen systems.
I think MH6 will be on PS5, Xbox Series and PC while Nintendo's next console could get another console exclusive also on PC.
Capcom seems to have a "Main Series" team focusing on more powerful hardware along with a "Portable" team.
Depends on the format of Nintendo's next console I guess.
Makes sense to alternate between Nintendo exclusive and everything but Nintendo given the gigantic power gap (will still be large even when the Super Switch 2 Pro Advance U releases). That said, I don't think it'll be announced until E3 2023 at the earliest because Sunbreak is getting updates.
@uptownsoul by the time it comes out a new updated switch will already be here.. so maybe it will come to the next switch as well..
@Ripplefield That isn't why they chose to forgo a numbered title and go with World, though. They've said it was to make it feel less daunting as a starting point for new players, as Monster Hunter 5 would communicate a need for much deeper investment to those prospective players despite things like minimal story beats not really carrying over through the numbered entries at all. They wanted World to feel more welcoming from the get-go to new players than Tri or 4, and it turned out to be a very successful endeavor.
I mean given World is a gigantic success and the most sold MH game ever alongside Iceborne,..it's not hard to understand that MH6 or Paradise or whatever it's called is planned and a priority for Capcom.
If Nintendo would release a stronger switch it would maybe come to the console too, same for Multiversus, future will tell , they can totally come later on a pro/2
regarding being MH6 or not, does it really matter ? MH have no serious story or scenario spawning on multiple titles...
It's kinda funny how people even thought that Discord would have the name to Capcom's next big game in plain sight
I would really like to see Nintendo build a powerful dedicated home console in the vein of
the XSS. Not only would that encourage developers like Capcom to release their games (especially Monster Hunter) on Nintendo platforms, but it would also give Nintendo's own devs a lot more breathing room when designing and optimizing their own games. Being fun and gimmicky is one thing, but Nintendo would really benefit from stepping up and making a more powerful machine.
@DonSerrot I dunno man. The best games in the series (imo) were all on home consoles. I think that when Capcom develops for handheld systems, they end up removing features from the games to make them more portable-friendly. Rise ended up being the most over-simplified title in the entire series for that reason.
