Video: Bandai Namco Shares New Gameplay Footage Of Digimon Survive

They sure took their sweet time with this.

This trailer made me realize I know nothing about the gameplay except that it's a TTRPG and I still don't know much more yet even after watching the new footage XD

But I'm starting to be more hyped for the release, digimon is the perfect base concept for an amazing TTRPG, kinda hope to see a trailer showing they used all that potential.

Pokemon Tactics looks good but I have pre-ordered LiveAlive and Xenoblade3 in July. I neither have the time or the money I'm afraid.

I dislike how little they show of the actual way combat will play out.

The flow of combat is important in a SRPG.

Is it too much to show a few back to back player and enemy turns, or a full battle?

@Dr_Lugae There will reportedly be just a few battles in the game. Digimon Survive is a visual novel first of all. :/

A Digimon VN, while it does sound interesting and fresh for that franchise, a good or bad story can make or break a game.

I forsee many people being to lazy to do research beforehand and buy this blind, then complain it is a VN, because they never checked on Google it technically is one.

Reminds me of a different game that had same issue, but luckily with that game it wasn't that big of a issue.

Couldn't care less about this game. What Bandai does to Digimon is an absolute shame, they should reboot Digimon World again and make it a big open world RPG like Scarlet and Violet, instead of a tedious pseudo-detective (?) game like Cybersleuth, or a niche strategy game like Survive.

This still doesn't give us much, but at least I have a better idea of how the gameplay will pan out. Looking forward to this, but it's too close to XC3.

@BlackenedHalo That's not a bad thing if it's done well. 13 Sentinels is mostly a visual novel mixed in with real time strategy gameplay and it's great.

I love me some Digimon but it was only the anime and the old ones that had the Digimon in them like Tamagotchi even if they became worthless in like a day.

Man, the hype I had for this game is dead. I'll need many real gameplay videos before I am convinced to buy this (and I love Digimon, played the Cybersleuth games)

@EmoGamer Well, no... As he mentioned Digimon actually did the semi open World gameplay on 3D with Digimon World first and it did it quite well. Next Order and Re:Digitize were also like that. I do agree with you that Cyber Sleuth is great and that this game shows promise, but Digimon definitely has done good game of that type in the past and they are not like Pokemon, Tem Tem or anything else.

If this really is a VN first and foremost, then this will be DOA in the West, which is a shame. This has also dampened my enthusiasm for the game, though I’ll still pick it up. I’ve never been a great fan of “games” that spend so much time telling you the story rather than letting you experience it.

I’d much rather have had more ports of the Digimon games that Nintendo platforms have missed out on over the years.

@HenHiro They already have an open world digimon game that's criminally underrated on the PS4: Digimon World Next Order. But that game being forgotten is exactly what you're saying. What Bandai does with Digimon is criminal. They never market it. Digimon could be an absolute juggernaut in the right hands.

Sorry to say it, but this looks like such a downgrade from cyber's sleuth, hopefully we'll get a next order port for switch in the near future

Why is everything so ...still? It's got 0 dynamism, I really don't like this art direction, I get it's a tactics-like strategy game game but that doesn't mean the cutscenes can't be more dynamic, characters are stiff as rocks... they are showing a battle, where's the action and the grandiose evolution sequences that make Digimon so spectacular?

@Brydontk I know next Order haven't played t, but it a least looked better than Cybersleuth in the sense that it actually looks like a Digimon game.

Next Order didn't have great reviews, but I would still love a Switch port, I highly doubtb though.

@EmoGamer I disagree, I want Digimon to be basically the same as Pokémon, so I have double the fun with both franchises.

not a fan of how the art style and game has changed since the first few trailers but im always up for a new digimon game

@EmoGamer I'm not saying to make it a Pokémon clone. As I said those games were not like it or anything else, they were their own thing and it was fantastic. That's the thing with Digimon, it actually has delivered good different games with different gameplay styles.

@EmoGamer no, I would make Digimon be better and sell more. All Digimon games are much worse than Pokémon in average.

It doesn't need to be exactly the same, it can habe it's own ideas, but it should be a lot more similar to Pokémon.

Pokémon needs concurrence, there are not a lot of big monster collecting games out there, you have Monster Hunter Stories now, which is great but still not anything near Pokémon in sales, and you have more niche stuff like Temtem and Rune Factory, where the monster collecting is more of a side thing, although I still love it.
