Update: Epic Games has confirmed that Tron is indeed coming to Fortnite:

Joining the Hunt, the “End of Line” Collection is now available in the Item Shop. Choose between a variety of player looks including Cypher, Firewall, Proxy, Datapath, Packet, Bitstream, Commandline, Upload, Io, and Bandwidth, which include a removable helmet. Rounding out the set, the collection includes callbacks to Tron’s most iconic gaming arenas with the Light Cycle rideable Glider and Identity Disc Pickaxe and Back Bling. Never leave your operating system without it.

Original Story [Thu 11th Feb, 2021 17:30 GMT]: With the Terminator and the Predator making an entrance in Fortnite, it wouldn't seem too unrealistic to expect another popular '80s movie franchise to make its debut in the popular Battle Royale game.
This all started with post from HYPEX on Twitter containing an image of a new portal that will be opening up on the Fortnite island. This was found in the game's source code.
Then, a few hours later, the official Fortnite Twitter account posted an audio clip of Jonesy (a leading Fortnite character who is currently pulling in help from different universes as part of the game's "Zero Point" narrative) sitting down to try and turn on a dusty, old PC.
As you can see, this transmission is labelled "Reality Log MCP-82" – and, as movie fans will know, MCP stands for "Master Control Program" in Disney's Tron series, while 82 stands for the year in which the original Tron movie saw its release. "They fight for the users" clearly references the character Tron from the same film.
Tron got a sequel in 2010 entitled Tron Legacy, which boasted an amazing soundtrack by French duo Daft Punk. A TV series, named Tron: Uprising, arrived in 2012, and more recently there have been reports that a new movie is in development, with Jared Leto involved.

If it's the legacy designs there should be a style which looks like the original movie

I imagine if Fortnite continues being popular, just about every type of medium will have a skin in Fortnite by the end of it all. I do love Tron though and was crushed when the sequel to Tron Legacy was cancelled. I hope the rumors of a new one are true.

Anyone else notice how Fortnite has just become a dumping ground for copyrighted skins? I’m glad I gave the game up years ago because there is truly nothing interesting and new about it anymore.

Yeah I've also stopped playing for this reason. Fortnite actually used to be interesting because of all of the ORIGINAL skins/characters/concepts with the occasional crossover promo. The bearsuit girls, medieval characters, and "Raptor" were arguably the most iconic ones they had. But ever since Chapter 2, it's been nothing but regurgitated stuff from IPs we already know exist. They even did a Battle Pass completely based off of Marvel.
Is it a bad thing? No. Because ultimately, it makes more money to take something popular and mix it with Fornite which is also popular. But the lack of originality has completely turned me off of this game with a new crossover every week that is essentially recycled content from another IP.
Apex Legends cannot come fast enough.

@gcunit wow, an article when something important happens (which is every few weeks) in one of the worlds biggest game is really milking it. I’ve seen more Nintendo related post in the last week than all of Fortnite combined. I think it’s safe. And why does it matter? If you don’t want to see it, don’t click on the articles.
I’m sure most kids won’t even know what tron is, then make one of the skins a “sweat” skin
I love both Tron movies, but I always felt the premise was better than the actual movies. Tron Legacy could have been mindblowing, and is still a good movie, but its pacing is awful and it didn't live up to its potential at all. I'm very much down for a third trip to Flynn's Arcade, I just hope this time they don't hit the brakes when they should be hitting the gas. And I hope they can find another electronic artist who can do the score as well as Daft Punk did.
I don't care about Fortnite much, but I feel cautiously optimistic that this is a sign Disney thinks Tron could be big again. Hopefully third time's the charm.
Remember, Fortnite players who also have any interest in Tron, it's like the old man said: There are no problems, only solutions.

@JasmineDragon Check out Tron Uprising if you get the chance. Kinda like Clone Wars in that, while a cartoon for kids, it has some of the best storytelling of the franchise. Plus, Bruce Boxleitner voices Tron, and he's a main character. Not just a cameo.
