The gold paint on these looks waaaaay better than on the Gold Mario amiibo. That's pretty cool, but I hate it when they make them super rare, amiibo are hard enough to track as it is. Peer Schneider is probably crying right now, since he owns like every amiibo except for a rare Monster Hunter set, and now they've pulled the same thing again.

Feel sorry for all the amiibo collectors out there.

Hope these aren’t withholding special, golden content. Like how Wii U games used to know the difference between Gold, Silver, and Regular Mario.

Honestly, making these a gamble-only is quite irritating.

If you want to make a limited item... why not just make them pre-orderable and then make only for the pre-orders?

I just wish there was a way to buy the content without the toys, I would like the Magnamalo transmog but don't really want to pay £20 for a small bit of DLC - its really grim locking content behind the plastic paywall.

Nah, much rather the plushy palamute that's in the Japanese collector's edition. It looks so cool, the monster hunter plushes always look fantastic.

That is not an excuse. Even if they were to make say 10,000 total. And you had to buy them as an entire set... There are still ways to make a bot proof sale system. Especially if it is a one-time item.

Have that particular screen have a question that the box will not be able to easily answer. Such as "What planet are you on?" Until the same style of prompt is used more than once, bots can't be prepared in order to snap them all up for scalping. Move the inputfield to the right, change the question, have people type out a word in the question... There is an infinite amount of ways to make a pre-order system that prevent bots. They are just not the cheapest thing around. But neither are the bots.

Regardless, having an exclusive, limited edition, coveted item available solely through a gambling mechanic is not good for the industry, collectors, or even gaming PR in general. In addition to that, if they made it clear that pre-orders would only be available at a specific time and then just fulfill the orders pre-ordered, they don't need to worry about stocking issues or shipping to stores as they just will ship it to your house. And you will pay the shipping. Easy.

Am I the only one that think that these “gold” (painted) versions of Amiibo are hideous? I rather have the normal ones.

Oh boy wait when you see people selling these on ebay and mercari. My guess is 100$ in US. They are pretty looking but not worth for 100$ imo. There will always be luck on some's side.

@RandomNerds : I didn't want to buy four copies of what amounted to the same game purely for the figurines. Plus, it was suggested that they were Skylanders figurines that could be used as amiibo.

I kind of still want them for my collection, but I won't lose sleep over it either.

@Silly_G I hear you I feel like because they "different" they may be collectible and hard to find one day. Jealous you have such an extensive collection.

I got the CE plus all MH Amiibo pre-ordered so I'll have to hoard mine now. I also got the MH Amiibo version from the 3DS version that was from Japan. Of which now can't find or price is eye popping for them.
