Update: As you might have guessed following his tweet earlier this week, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has now also congratulated Sony on the launch of the PlayStation 5.

Respect and good vibes all 'round. You love to see it.

Original Article (Tue 10th Nov, 2020 15:00 GMT): As we mentioned earlier today – admittedly because we were joking about the console being a decent display stand for our beloved GameCubes – the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles have launched today worldwide.

The systems kick off a whole new generation of gaming, set to be expanded further when the PS5 launches in a couple of days' time. Whether you play Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, or indeed a combination of the lot, it's fantastic to see consoles continuing to thrive and be at the centre of our favourite hobby.

Putting any rivalries aside, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has captured this spirit nicely today by congratulating Microsoft's Xbox team and its head, Phil Spencer, on the launch of its latest systems.

Of course, Microsoft's relationship with Nintendo has been blossoming nicely just lately with more and more exciting collaborations, so perhaps this friendly gesture isn't quite the shock it might have been in the past. Spencer recently described Nintendo as "a jewel" in the industry, and has recently stated that the team "could be open" to putting Game Pass on Switch one day.

Are you expecting a shiny new Xbox to be delivered today? Will it sit alongside your Switch for the next generation? Let us know with a comment.
