Original Article (Tue 22nd Sep, 2020 16:30 BST): Sega is now hosting a pretty mighty sale across both the Nintendo Switch and 3DS eShops in North America.
The sale is celebrating the company's 60th anniversary, reducing the prices of titles like Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix, games from the SEGA AGES series, and more.
You can check out the entire sale here – you should stumble across a page that looks just like this, with plenty of offers to scroll through:
The sale will remain live until 5th October at 8:59am PT. Make sure you've had a look through these deals by then.

Several titles in my "I wouldn't mind having" category but nothing I need to jump on right away.
Oh look Sega forgot Europe is a thing...
Edit: seems they remember now Europe does exist
Waiting on Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix to get a physical release in the West (I'd buy a playasia Japanese version but then the DLC would be difficult to obtain, as I couldn't purchase it from a non-Japanese eshop).
Sega Genesis Classics on Switch has pretty bad input lag that reviews didn't warn us about, most easy to spot on Sonic any time you push jump. Sega never patched it. Happy 60th!
I will probably pick up citizens of space and a few Sega ages. Despite the input lag I like the genesis collection and it has a good amount of RPGs in it as well as action games.
Smt Iv : Apocalypse and the devil survivors are in my list then my 3ds collection will be complete (already played DESU1 but stupidly sold it )
Love the 60th logo, Especially the images behind of crazi taxi and the Dreamcast, it reminds me every time I see it, ofall the games that Sega could of ported to switch and they never bothered.
Come Sega I want arcade ports of Manx TT, HOTD, virtua cop etc....
Already grabbed Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX thanks to this sale. I've had an eShop card waiting to just buy this one, and been wanting to buy it. Missed out on my chance for a physical copy years ago and it's pricey now.
@TheFrenchiestFry more of a persona guy myself. If I play smt ever I'm starting with nocturne based on what I heard and the hd remake. It's just I don't have time for both xc, fire emblem, ff, and persona without adding another great ultra long RPG into my schedule.
5 bucks p4 g comes to switch next year
@Dang69
Does the import have English language support?
Sad thing is, I own all the Switch games on sale that I would have interest in, but my wife got me a 3ds for my birthday, so time to download a whole bunch of Atlus RPGs....
@Ghostchip SMT IV is really good, but you may have a hard time moving on to IV if you play it after NOCTURNE, as the latter is the pinnacle of the franchise IMHO.
I am waiting for a Sonic Mania discount.
I’ll pick up Fantasy Zone if I don’t already own it.
@Ghostchip SMTIV is easily a better starting point for MegaTen than Nocturne
IV is literally a walk in the park in terms of difficulty if you play that after Nocturne or Strange Journey.
@TheFrenchiestFry oh difficulty Is not a problem lol I prefer hard games. Old fe s have been great I'm sure I will enjoy the challenge
@KonkeyDong64 makes sense but I don't think I will play the whole series too many good games lol. I just like the art style of persona better overall so I will probably play nocturne only if you know what I mean. Haven't even started p4 and p5 I own golden but am probably playing 5 royal on the ps5 digital. Never owned anything besides nintendo home consoles hyped!
laughs in british
@Tandy255 same dude want me a cheap sonic game
Put all the Sega Ages games on a cartridge and I’ll buy it.
@RushDawg https://www.play-asia.com/hatsune-miku-project-diva-mega39s/13/70cuf9
No but i think it's pretty easy to figure out, however all the DLC, if purchased, needs the eshop to match the region of the gamecard.
That Sega Genesis Collection 15 bucks? Hmmm... 🤔
Would love to buy DLC for that Genesis Collection thing.
@TheFrenchiestFry like I said before, difficulty makes me happy lol
@RushDawg I highly doubt that is going to happen (I got the japanese LE because I knew this going to happen and wanted to have the game early, but got the western one too at sale few weeks ago for the DLC)
@Dang69 no, and it is not going to get that.
more of a persona guy myself.
...
like I said before, difficulty makes me happy lol
@Ghostchip
WHAT?
Are you two-headed or something? YOU DISGUST ME. Buy a real Shin Megami Tensei game!!!!!!!!1!
(Go away, mods. I'm fulfilling the toxicity quota for this thread. You guys must be slipping or something...)
@COVIDberry lol. If your curious I just really like the art direction of the persona games (the colors not a fan of anime in general but the I swear the use of color is AMAZING!). Oh and when I said difficulty makes me happy it was when I was deciding which smt to start with lol
Any recommendation of Sega games? I playes on Wii Mario vs Sonic and it was really fun, but that's it, that's all my experience with sega games.
3DS is region locked?
I don't think I ever waited so long for a sale like this, lol. Finally I acquired Stella Glow (whose demo I played 2 months ago and I really liked it) in the 3DS eShop. I'm seriously thinking about getting Radiant Historia too, but I'll play the demo first.
@Tandy255 Sonic Mania is one of the games that's on sale now.
@eltomo 3ds is region locked for 3ds games, so yes
@MarioLover92 Sweet! Thanks! 50% off Sonic Mania. Perfect.
@Tandy255 You're totally welcome Sonic Mania is one of my favorite games so I'd say it's worth it!
Will probably quadruple dip on Valkyria Chronicles (already have it on PS3, PS4, and Steam) out of principle, to have a portable copy of all the games in the series, and in the fruitless hope of an official English translation of VC 3, the best game in the series...
Still have SMTIV, Dragon Quest VII, and Strange Journey Redux in my 3DS RPG backlog...very tempted to pick up another...I have a problem lol
Just wish they kept the Ages line going! 😌
And I realized by looking through the 3DS games on sale that a lot of those ages games never came to switch either! 🤨
I’m 2000% going to buy up some of these for my 3DS. This is a great sale!
Also, if you don’t buy Stella Glow, I’ll personally be mad at you and we can’t be friends.
EDIT: aaaand just finally bought strange journey and this sale lit the fire on me to go buy Alliance Alive for 3DS off eBay. I would’ve got Strange Journey physical as well but it’s for obscene amounts for complete versions. Digital will have to do for now!
Hmm... A slight discount on Out Run. I may wait longer.
Sega do what Nintendont.
I really want the Yakuza series to hit the Switch...
@JeanPaul Uh... if you only have Switch, Sonic 1, 2, and Mania. If you have anything else, ALL THE 3D SONICS
I think I'm going to just grab the remaining Sega and Atlus games I don't own yet on 3DS digitally.
@Ghostchip If you enjoy a fair challenge, you'll likely be super happy with SMT whenever you get around to it. I'm really excited for the Nocturne remaster releasing next year, myself.
@Ralizah yup I'm excited. The only thing I don't like about some challenging rpgs is when they have nothing to do builds and it's just endless grinding for exp for hours lol.
Oh yes, can't wait to get Sonic Mania on sale! ...wait, I already have Sonic Mania. Why aren't I'm playing it?
@RPGamer Nah, it'll just be on the eShop I'm afraid!
I hope it'll come to Europe, I really want to buy some 3D Classics (Shinobi 3, Space Harrier...)
Can we have this in Europe please?
I picked up Lightening Force. Its awesome!
Still no Sonic 3. Not interested. I’d pay a fortune for it on PS4
Why no sale in Europe?
Ulp. This article reminded me just in time that I'd been meaning to pick up Hatsune Miku for the Switch while it was on sale.
And the backlog grows...
Aww freak, I didn't even know Citizens of Space existed, Citizens of Earth was one of my favorite eShop games on the 3DS and I missed the deal. Oh well, I put it on my wish list and will wait for another deal, no rush.
Grabbed up most of the Sega Ages games and had a lot of fun with them. I paid full price for Herzog Zwei but it was worth it.
@shonenjump86
The Sega Collection is actually my most played "Game" on the Switch...
Even if there are many Titles i dislike, the good Ones are just great, like Streets of Rage or Phantasy Star.
Light Crusader was a big surprise, great Game.
I ended up getting all the remaining SEGA AGES, 3D Classics on 3DS, and even the rest of the Etrian Odyssey games I'm missing and Persona Q 1 (since complete physical sets are going for the price of a console on Amazon). I didn't have to get all the 3D classics because I already have the Collection and I got the Japan-only Final volume on my JP account when the sale first started. I might go back in for one or two of the SMT spinoffs or Alliance Alive (depending on reviews). This was a great sale!
EDIT: 60th comment on the 60th Anniversary thread, nice!
Welp I'm broke.
Stocked up the missing Atlus games from my collection and picked up the Tokyo 2020 game (I don't know why SEGA is sitting on it...it is in full English) which satisfies my sports requirements.
I ended up buying Stella Glow and Radiant Historia (the demo convinced me that this game is a legitimate heir of Chrono Trigger). It was worth waiting 2 months for this sale!
I wish there were more Sega games on the Switch. Especially from their back catalog.
