So, let's have a look at this week's five best deals on the Switch eShop!

The Best Cheap Games On The Nintendo Switch eShop

Here's our pick of the top 5 best deals for cheap games on the Switch eShop right now:

Mechstermination Force (Switch eShop)

Mechstermination Force (Switch eShop)Mechstermination Force (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Horberg Productions / Developer: Horberg Productions
Release Date: 3rd Apr 2019 (USA) / 4th Apr 2019 (UK/EU)

50% off - was $11.99, now $5.99 until 30th Jul 2020

While certainly less of a head-turner than something like Cuphead (which released in close proximity to this), Mechstermination Force is a more approachable take on boss rush platforming, with less of an emphasis on twitch-based, pixel-perfect precision. The game is peppered with ingenious design and amusing writing and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with it. We'd recommend it as a more accessible alternative to (or appetiser for) Studio MDHR’s game. If you enjoyed Gunman Clive, this is a great expansion on the concept and well worth investigating.

Death Squared (Switch eShop)

Death Squared (Switch eShop)Death Squared (Switch eShop)
Publisher: SMG Studios / Developer: SMG Studios
Release Date: 13th Jul 2017 (USA) / 13th Jul 2017 (UK/EU)

90% off - was $14.99, now $1.49 until 3rd Aug 2020

While we’ve seen plenty of games that have similar themes and mechanics, the way they’re presented in Death Squared makes for a rare experience. Having a game that is cooperative at its core but imminently playable as a solo experience is a boon, but it must be said its wily charms are exponentially more effective when sitting next to a friend or loved one whilst you giggle at each other’s faux pas. If you want your puzzlers to be thought-provoking with a dash of dry humour, you can’t go wrong with Death Squared - certainly not for this price.

We recently chatted with the head of SMG Studio about the developer's approach to discounts on eShop and how they affect sales, so be sure to check that out for a glimpse behind the sales curtain.

Danmaku Unlimited 3 (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Doragon Entertainment / Developer: Doragon Entertainment
Release Date: 13th Mar 2018 (USA) / 13th Mar 2018 (UK/EU)

50% off - was $9.99, now $4.99 until 31st Jul 2020

Danmaku Unlimited 3 is a brilliantly executed ‘best of’ bullet hell shmup ideas wrapped up into a phenomenal package. It is one of the very best shmups money can buy in the whole Switch game library. Even if you don’t particularity like shmups - or if Japanese bullet hells are not your particular favourite flavour within the genre - exposure to the insane lightshows provided by this game might just turn you into a die-hard fan. We can only fault one particular ‘glitch’: every other shmup on the system feels slow and dull in comparison.

SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch eShop)

SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch eShop)SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Image & Form / Developer: Image & Form
Release Date: 21st Sep 2017 (USA) / 21st Sep 2017 (UK/EU)

60% off - was $19.99, now $7.99 until 1st Aug 2020

SteamWorld Dig 2 is another confident effort from Image & Form, and a worthy successor to the original. Stylish and good-looking, it also has the series' trademark humour and, yes, a pretty good soundtrack. It refines and expands upon the qualities of SteamWorld Dig and hits some delicious high points. Whether you played the first game or not, SteamWorld Dig 2 is a must-have - its charming aesthetic and cast set the scene for a tightly designed and clever exploration game.

And with the growing trend of games plummeting to mere cents, here's our sub-$1 pick for a super cheap game that's worth the memory space it takes up on your Switch...

Super One More Jump (Switch eShop)

Super One More Jump (Switch eShop)Super One More Jump (Switch eShop)
Publisher: SMG Studios / Developer: SMG Studios
Release Date: 25th Jan 2018 (USA) / 25th Jan 2018 (UK/EU)

90% off - was $7.00, now $0.69 until 3rd Aug 2020

Super One More Jump absolutely nails its platforming mechanics that when combined with the huge variety in the obstacles you must overcome, creates an experience that’s incredibly enjoyable, rewarding, and tough as nails. Soundtrack disappointment aside, this 2D platformer is well worth your time.
