Regular sales have become a welcome fixture on the Nintendo Switch eShop and there are huge numbers of cheap and discounted Switch games available at any given time. With so much choice it can be tough to know exactly is worth your hard-earned cash and precious time.
Never fear - Nintendo Life is here to help you sort the wheat from the chaff! Here we choose our Top 5 cheap Switch games in the Switch eShop sales so you can be sure you're getting a great deal on a great game.
What do we mean by 'best cheap Switch games' exactly? We're thinking anything discounted to around £10/10€ or under (GBP and EUR prices will obviously differ and sometimes won't reflect the same percentage discount). In addition to the top 5 best cheap Switch games, we'll also highlight a ridiculously cheap eShop game (we're talking Switch games under a quid) which may be worth investigating for a few pennies, if only for a half hour or so.
If you live in the US (or have a US Nintendo Account), you might want to check out our equivalent article on the best cheap games on the US eShop.

The Best Cheap Games On The Nintendo Switch eShop
Here's our pick of the top 5 best deals for cheap games on the Switch eShop right now:
75% off - was £26.99 / 29,99€, now £6.74 / 7,49€ until 23rd Jul 2020
Outlast 2 ramps up the tension and the technical achievement from the original (which also has 75% discount), with one of the most stunningly atmospheric game worlds around. The level design is expanded along with your stealth options, creating a handful of truly memorable moments. It definitely isn't for everyone, though. Themes of religious perversion and abuse make Outlast 2 (un)comfortably one of the most horrific experiences on Switch, while the limitations of its stealth mechanics can try the patience.
50% off - was £12.99 / 14,49€, now £6.49 / 7,24€ until 16th Jul 2020
20XX has an addictive rhythm. You dive into the level, find loot like upgrades and currency bolts, kill bosses to take their weapons, and keep pushing until you die. After dying we’d often suffer from that 'just one more run' itch that’s so common in roguelikes and the formula fits an action platformer like 20XX perfectly. The procedural engine does a good job of mixing things up, although after a while you can start to see a little repetition. That's easily overshadowed, though, by the sheer variety and amount of upgrades and customisation on offer. Recommended.
50% off - was £17.99 / 19,99€, now £8.99 / 9,99€ until 13th Jul 2020
Streets of Rogue benefited from years of developmental evolution in Early Access, and while we do feel the asking price is a tad high for the final result on Switch, the amount of content you get far surpasses what you’re probably expecting. RPGs are often at their best when they give you a world where you can be anyone and do anything - Skyrim has built its legacy on that concept - so if you want the freedom to be a werewolf, or a scientist, or a bartender, then this is the game for you.
20% off - was £4.79 / 5,99€, now £3.83 / 4,79€ until 22nd Jul 2020
Subsurface Circular is a landmark moment in interactive storytelling. The elegance of its escalation is simply unmatched, as it tells a story that makes you feel like you’re in completely over your head, and yet still perfectly believable. The characters you meet along the way all feel unique with their own personality, which makes interacting with them a test of wit and cunning as you use the conversational mechanics to their full effect. There’s nothing quite else quite like Subsurface Circular, and when that uniqueness is combined with the phenomenal narrative at hand, you have all the ingredients for a simply unforgettable and very special journey aboard the subway. It hardly breaks the bank at full price, but a cheeky discount makes it even better.
50% off - was £13.49 / 14,99€, now £6.74 / 7,49€ until 13th Jul 2020
The Final Station is a unique journey among the current Switch library you will not want to skip, especially if you missed the original PC release. World-building and plot is brilliantly delivered by numerous little details that deliver tension and sense of urgency. When you reach the end game you can immediately jump into the ‘The Only Traitor’ DLC included in the Switch version, which will enable you to experience the same events with a new character.
And with the growing trend of games plummeting to mere pennies, here's our sub-£1 / 1€ pick for a super cheap game that's worth the memory space it takes up on your Switch...
90% off - was £8.99 / 9,99€, now £0.89 / 0,99€ until 16th Jul 2020
Anodyne mixes solid old-school dungeon crawling with a delightfully weird and warped narrative set in a fever dreamscape full of bizarre secrets and surprises. The gameplay mechanics might not offer anything particularly new but Young's adventure still manages to throw up plenty of original and off-kilter scenarios and is something of a gem in the Switch's line-up of retro action-adventure titles.
