Update (Tue 2nd Jun, 2020 12:45 BST): SNK has announced on Twitter that SNK Gals' Fighters is available on the European eShop once again. No reason about its removal was provided.
Original Story (Fri 8th May, 2020 06:05 BST): Last week, the Neo Geo Pocket Color title SNK Gals' FIghters got released on the Switch eShop. Now a post on the Nintendo Switch subreddit by the user Vcom7418 has noted how it's been removed:
Gals' fighters was on my to buy list, but when I went to check it in the eshop, it was suspiciously missing. Barring a few comments expressing their confusion on the title's disappearance, I couldn't find anything. Why would a game be removed from eshop?
GoNintendo mentions how it only seems to have been taken down from the European eShop.
We had a look on the UK eShop and can confirm the game is no longer listed. The good news is it's still available in North America. At this point in time, it's unknown if it's a temporary removal or permanent. Admittedly, it was a bit of a surprise when we heard the game had got a standalone release on the Switch eShop.
If we hear anything else - we'll let you know. In the meantime, if you want to experience this small slice of retro goodness, you might want to download this game while you still can.

I'm guessing a bug in the European upload or something?
Under age panty shots.
I mean, you could have read your comment section under the review. You didn't have to go to Reddit to find out about this.
If they did remove it, then it's probably just for an update perhaps or maybe to add a multi-language option (it is PAL regions after all) but then again they usually don't offer these games for sale on the eShop by itself so if they do plan to remove it better to just head to another region's eShop and quickly snatch it before it dissolves there too.
I'm sure it will be back. But seriously, what happened to Fighter's History!? That game really seems to BE history! Bring it baaaack.
I've noticed a few other games disappearing before too, Polygod, Scrap Rush, Night Slashers, Fighter's History... All gone.
Well, at least i have it.
Thank goodness I bought it in advance.
... Pocket Rumble, that is. SNK Gals Fighters is still a game I'll never have.
@Zorox88
Could be the reason. Contrary to popular belief, while Europeans aren't quite as prudish as America, they're not as kinky as outsider make 'em out to be either.
It's probably some small age rating problem, like a gambling or smoking reference that has been overlooked, or something sexy or violent.
It will probably be back with a higher rating soon.
Hopefully it will come back, and with more Neo Geo Pocket games.
I still wonder if Ninja Commando is ever going to be put back on.
Not my waifu game! lol
Is it really gone from their wishlist? So far games that were taken down temporarily remained on the list, you were just unable to buy them. If it poofed, that's a little more suspicious.
I got it hope for more pocket games
@AlexSora89 So, you are saying EuroTrip (2004) taught me wrong about European culture??
Just kidding, of course 😂
@EmirParkreiner If that's the case then it could be gun usage, since it's the EU (maybe, I'm not sure of the criteria). Whip can pull out her gun and shoot diagonally downwards from about 1/2 the screen. At least she's not technically aiming at someone, the other person just needs to be in the right spot when she fires. There's also cartoon-ishly huge grenades, an air strike, a bundle of dynamite but the gun seems the least cartoony out of all of those.
The ESRB rating on this is "E10 Fantasy Violence". I wonder if that includes fantasy blood, because one of Leona's supers still includes a bunch of that, yikes. They'd definitely need to bump that up I think.
@GrailUK @TheFineLens Are all the Johnny Turbo games gone from EU? How long has it been like that? Maybe it's another publishing rights thing and they need to clarify and resubmit since there's like up to 4 different entities represented. Johnny Turbo's Arcade in the listing title, Flying Tiger Entertainment on the title overlay screens in-game, Golem Entertainment as the current publisher, and G-Mode as the main rights holder as far as I know.
Now I just panic-bought my last 3 Johnny Turbo games to complete the collection, yeesh. At least they're on another one of those $1.99 sales again so it's not too bad.
Looking at an eShop tracking website, three Johnny Turbo games are missing, Break Thru, Night Slashers, and Fighter's History (All Data East games).
Break Thru and Night Slashers disappeared around the 16th of November, with Fighter's History leaving around the 10th of January.
Strange considering that Joe and Mac, Sly Spy, and other Data East games are still available when these three are missing.
When it's a game suddenly disappearing in Europe only, it's usually always PEGI to blame.
By a cached version of Nintendo UK's site, it seems it was initially given PEGI 3.
Blood, violence and guns in a PEGI 3 does sound like a misrating.
It's happened often enough before — Deltarune, To the Moon, etc were initially given PEGI 3 then removed and returned with higher ratings.
@TheFineLens Oh, didn't see Night Slashers go! I grabbed that one (phew)
@Masterleon It's probably for the best. Their games feel tentative at best!
It's available again on the European eShop!
Good to have it back.
It got bumped up from PEGI 3 to PEGI 7, which seems more in line with that rating system.
25 SNK Games is "mysteriously" free on Twitch Prime.
@Ventilator Based on the announced titles, I believe they're the same DotEmu versions that were released for the SNK 25th anniversary on Humble Bundle (and later on Steam) They don't have the customization options like screen filters and button remapping like the ACA NeoGeo series, iirc. For the low price of free they're ok.
@masterLEON It's most likely Steam versions on Prime.
I have them on Prime, but haven't tried any yet.
This happens with regularity on the eShop and is easy to spot if you keep a few titles on your watch list. So, no need to take the stance of "better get this quick or we'll never see it again ever".
