Nintendo has shared a list of the top 15 most-downloaded Switch eShop games of April 2020 in Europe, and we imagine it's fairly obvious which game has come out on top
Yes, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the most-downloaded game for the second month in a row, which is hardly surprising considering we now know just how many copies it sold worldwide in its first six weeks on sale.
Other major Nintendo releases can be found throughout the list, too, as well as a selection of lovely third-party releases.
You can check out the full list below. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads (so no physical sales) in European territories during the whole month:
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
- Just Dance 2020
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Monopoly for Nintendo Switch
- Spyro Reignited Trilogy
- Minecraft
- Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Bastion
- Thief Simulator
- UNO
- Pocket Mini Golf
- Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition
- Unravel Two
If you're interested, we recently shared our April 2020 edition of the Nintendo Life eShop Selects - our list of the very best eShop games that launched last month.
Did you download any of these titles on Switch last month? Any surprises in the top 15? Tell us below.

Heck yeah for Just Dance, game is amazing for 19.99
Wow Mario and rabbids sales are actually working, sad to see no pokemon sword/shield
Looks being generous with discounts is really helping Ubisoft. They had another great month. I am surprised that Just Dance sold more than Assassin’s Creed. I am guessing that could be due size constraints.
Yeah i got Mario + Rabbids as it was on sale, at that price i couldn't say no.
It truly was a 50:50 toss up between Animal Crossing and the Rabbids.
@gaby_gabito Family's are playing a bunch together. So multilayer games are all the rave.
Great. But what’s new?
I mean, how many years do I have to read about flipping Mario Kart 8?
literally playing rabbids right now! escorting spawny

Amazing how BotW is still topping charts.
Nice to see Rayman getting a little love. Great game. Pick up next time u see it on sale.
@JayJ ayyy timeless is timeless.
@gaby_gabito Or due to the lockdown maybe? The Wii has sold out, WiiMotes are more expensive and people are trying to have fun and be more active 8indoors.
Wish they'd reveal a Direct
Animal Crossing stole much of the love from Stardew Valley I assume. I adore both games to be sure and I'm not surprised.
After 3 years Breath of the Wild still sell like cupcakes. That game will reach 50 million copies at the end of the Switch life. Without count the future HD versions, Remasterd etc..
@Dezzy M+R:KB is a GREAT game. It deserve this.
@CorvoRevo I absolutely love the dk dlc. In fact I think I enjoyed it more than main game.
interesting list, definitely a big variety
Seriously Animal Crossing couldn't have come out at any other better time for the world to be shut down. And wasn't it delayed? Someone at Nintendo may be dabbling in the dark arts.
There are a lot of new Switch owners thanks to the lockdown, so I imagine that’s why the ‘classic’ Switch games like BotW and Odyssey still do well
@playstation_king This is digital download sales. Most people brought Pokémon physical copy, and recent sales figures show Pokémon is doing really well
@WallyWest How is the game? I still haven't gotten it yet.
Does anybody know why M+R:KB is suddenly super hot? It's a great game, for sure, but it's a game that's been out for over two years and suddenly it's everywhere. We've had it since launch day and not played it in over a year, and about a week ago my eldest suddenly decided she's going to replay it all the way through.
Again, it's an awesome game, but where is this coming from all of a sudden?
@Jaguarr Don't worry, dude just mad Pokémon sold 3x as much as Final Fantasy
@JasmineDragon big sale + Mario
UBI Soft sure dominates the list.
And a lot of games with huge discounts will always b found here, Uno, Monopoly and Pocket mini Golf for example.
Monopoly wtf
Wow. Thief Simulator.
I was just joking about that game today, after not having thought about it since its release.
For all of Europe's love of party games in that top 15 list, it's a little ironic that Super Mario Party is nowhere to be seen.
Also a lot of Ubisoft games on that list! I really hope to see more Switch titles unveiled at Ubisoft's Forward digital event in July.
