Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Update: This has been confirmed via the Japanese Animal Crossing site:

Saved data of this software does not support "moving user" or "moving saved data". Please note that if you purchase a "second unit", you will not be able to transfer the original island data to another unit.

Original Story [Wed 5th Feb, 2020 02:30 GMT]: Following on from last week's news that you would only be able to have one island per console in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there's now believed to be another concerning discovery.

According to a post on the Nintendo Switch subreddit, the back of the German box for the new entry supposedly reveals it won't be possible to transfer data between two separate Switch consoles. Here's a look (thanks, Rocco_Morrashow):

Obviously, if you've played an Animal Crossing game in the past, you'll know it demands a lot of your time. So if this is in fact true – it means you won't be able to carry your save file across to newer systems.

Fingers crossed this doesn't turn out to be the case, else there's nothing to protect your save file. Nintendo has already confirmed the upcoming Switch release won't be compatible with cloud backups either, in order to avoid manipulation of time.

How would you feel about not being able to transfer your save / user data to another system in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Share your thoughts below.
