Welcome to the future! Yes, we're a month into 2020 and what a treat it has been to finally get our hands on our jet packs, silver jumpsuits and brain chips! Our lives have improved immeasurably with all this future tech, although we're already dreading next year's service bill on our newly-purchased flying automobile.
Okay, so perhaps 2020 hasn't been quite the technological paradigm shift predicted by '80s science fiction, but there's still plenty to look forward to, especially in the field of video games. What gaming delights await on the Nintendo Switch, you ask? Good question. To answer it we've rounded up some of the best pre-orders for you for February 2020 and beyond.
Compared to the breakneck pace of releases in the last weeks of 2019, it's been a relatively sedate start to the year. January saw the release of the charming Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, but there are plenty of games on the horizon. Horizon..., geddit?...
No, not Forza. Let's just have a look at the biggest games coming to Switch in the next couple of months, shall we?

Darksiders Genesis - 14th February
Just in time for Valentine's Day comes the not-at-all romantic Darksiders Genesis. This prequel gives players their first look at the world of Darksiders, before the events of the original game. Furthermore, it introduces the fourth and last horseman Strife, as well as Co-op gameplay for the first time in the history of the franchise. The standard game will do for most people, but hardcore Darksiders fans will no doubt be delighted with the eye-wateringly priced 'Nephilim Edition' which contains an impressively sized figurine of Strife, a premium box, steelbook, stickers and even a Darksiders boardgame.
Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl - Gold - 14th February
Another Valentine's treat, this RPG comes from none other than Level-5, the studio behind such gems as the Yo-kai Watch series, Ni no Kuni, Inazuma Eleven and the Professor Layton games. Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl - Gold is a localised version of an expanded Switch port of The Snack World: Trejarers, a Japan-only 3DS game from 2017. Snack World is also a multi-media franchise with manga and anime branches, although it arguably hasn't yet caught on like the studio's Yo-kai series did. Still, with all the DLC from the Japanese version included from the get-go here, the western debut of the series looks like a great place for dungeon-crawling fans to start.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX - 6th March
A surprise announcement during the January Pokémon Direct, this remake of the GBA / DS game(s) will be with us shortly and promise to give the classic dungeon-crawling spin-offs a lick of HD paint and a dusting of mod-cons. It certainly looks lovely from what we've seen so far and we're gagging to see how the games hold up in 2020.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 20th March
Ah, the big one. Only the Doomslayer himself has the courage to go up against the mighty Animal Crossing: New Horizons on launch day, and even he decided it was best to delay the Switch version so as to avoid an embarrassing defeat. Oh Panic Button may talk about 'refinements' to DOOM Eternal, but we all know the real reason for the game's delay: Doom Guy took one look at Nook and scarpered.
You've probably got this one pre-ordered at multiple outlets already, but here are some of the options if you want to make doubly and triply sure to get started on your island getaway by catching yourself a Day One perch.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in February and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
There are also a handful of tantalising accessories coming up in February and beyond - handful being the operative word as you'll be putting these chunky monkeys in your mitts. Here are some rather fetching branded controllers for your consideration.
So that's it for February and March - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection for me, not much else outside DLC. The big highlight for the rest of this quarter for me is the Fire Emblem DLC on February 12th.
This February 2020 will be my busy time with hunting PS3, PSP, Wii games.
I think i will get Animal Crossing New Horizons on early April 2020.
I'm glad to see rpg maker has finally got a release date. I just hope that 30th March date is correct.
Unless something else gets announced, the only games I plan to pick up in the next couple of months are Luigi's Mansion 3 and Astral Chain.
Outer Worlds is all im interested in in March.
May have missed it but I didn’t see samurai shodown for 25 Feb
From this list, I'm definitely getting Snack World, Animal Crossing and Little Busters (all preordered). Maybe getting Metro Redux and Disaster Report 4. Probably the Hatsune Miku game but I'll wait for the English release before considering it.
I just finished Devil May Cry V and adored it, so I'm eyeing up that Devil May Cry Triple Pack. I'm also a huge Persona 5 fan so am looking forward to P5S, but I might hold off on that for now as it'll be a timesink around exam time! Besides that, I'm not particularly interested in anything else - I want Animal Crossing to be good so it sells well and people enjoy it, but I'm not sure how much I'd get out of it
Darksiders, Devil May Cry, Two Point Hospital and Metro Redux for me in february👍🏻
Meh nothing good
Maybe I'll get the Megaman Zero collection when it inevitably goes on sale. Otherwise, I'm waiting for a direct so badly. Waiting for Streets of Rage 4, AVGN 1+2, BOTW2, and Bayonetta 3.
Animal Crossing and Mega Man for me.
Darksiders Genesis for me. Animal crossing is out in light of recent news.
Snack World and Samurai Shodown for me.
@Magician I’m very curious by Snack World. I was initially disappointed when I heard that people hoping for a Fantasy Life spiritual successor are going to be disappointed. However, Level 5 always manages to put out some really interesting games with unique game mechanics that ooze with charm.
FINALLY. Two months where I can actually catch up on my backlog!
Have fun, Mystery Dungeon and Animal Crossing fans!
Darksiders Genesis, Snack World, and Animal Crossing for us!
Animal crossing and a bunch of old games. Oh and doom way later in the year. lol
Who needs nintendo direct when we have nintendolife guide for upcoming games.
Please Nintendo, give us a Direct.
Also still can't believe they are genuinely charging 60 dollars for a GBA remake. I hope Game Freak leaves after the DLCs.
I was hoping Panzer Dragoon was gonna be listed
Trails of Cold Steel III is the only one I'm likely to pick up this month. Right now I am just excited for the big Wargroove DLC releasing this Thursday!
Just Animal Crossing for me...
What the hell do you get for a 350 pound game? Is it coated in diamonds??? Madness.
Snack world, animal crossing and fairy tail for me
The only one that's probably sure to go on the shopping list is Rune Factory 4, but I'm sure a Direct could knock it down the queue with more interesting reveals.
I'd have my eye on the DMC Triple Pack if I hadn't already bought the first game digitally. I'll still get the other two eventually though, just digitally like the first.
Trials of Mana is a certainty, but on PS4. Likewise, I'm interested in Disaster Report, One Piece PW4, & Warriors Orochi 4, but would be leaning towards PS4 versions.
However, I'm working on New Super Lucky's Tale (as well as Blade Strangers & SNK Heroines), and want to get Daemon X Machina, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, and the Resident Evil games, so I'm not running short of Switch games yet.
Absolutely nothing of interest. I would get metro but already got it for pc. Getting doom for pc so hmm 🤔 need a direct
Mega Man ZX collection, Rune Factory 4 and Doom Eternal are all on my list. The game I'm most hyped for though is Trials of Mana. I'll wait and see how good Fairy Tail is before I decide on that one. I'm still playing Witcher 3 and Torchlight 2 and have Link's Awakening, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm and Ni No Kuni in my back log.
@JohnnyC But...those games came out last year...?
Darksiders genesis, Megaman ZX, Samurai Showdown, Outerworlds and Metro Redux are peaking my interests....I'll wait for reviews and get the best one (or two) out of those 5
@Bizzyb I know. I'm one of those strange people who doesn't buy and complete every game he's interested in within a week of its release. Making a real effort to get through my backlog. Currently having a blast with The Last of Us, Link's Awakening, and Lego Harry Potter.
@jarvismp Figurine, board game, steel book, stickers, artbook soundtrack, and the actual game of course.

Mega Man ZX collection for me in February. otherwise, its the back catalog for me.
again if anyone wanting Persona 5 Scramble now and don't want to wait another 6 to 7 months months or longer you can get the Japanese version and play it on your Switch
@DockEllisD got the Japanese version of Sam Sho. Great port!
@KBuckley27 will there be English Subtitles?
And let’s not forget about that Dead Cells DLC cause THAT's gonna be DOPE.
£350 for the collectors edition of Darksiders Genesis!? I'll take a fat sack of whatever you've been smoking THQNordic.
Nice! For me it’ll be the Three Houses DLC, Rune Factory 4S and Animal Crossing (I snatched myself one of the themed Switches and also preordered that adorable AC charging stand from PlayAsia, so that’s going to be great). And maybe the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon remake, if my SO gets it for me as a birthday present. Can’t wait, the next few months are going to be jam-packed!
It would have been nice if the game title hyperlink had not taken you to amazon but to the game page instead... there's already amazon button underneath...
Definitely Animal Crossing.
Still no sign of Bubble Bobble. I thought that it was coming early in the year
@GhostGeneration I'm so hyped for that dlc. Finally beat the game for the second time last night. Still need the dang spider rune tho.
@PhilKenSebben Yeah man, I’ve got 2 boss cells and I can’t WAIT for some new levels. Motion Twin not only made maybe the best action/platformer ever-theyre also keeping it RELEVANT by supporting it so hard. Between that, Genesis, and Snack World I’m stoked, and then Animal Crossing will ruin my life soon after.
Almost every game on this list that I am interested in is coming out in March not February. XD
I'm tempted to grab Rune Factory but I'm not sure if I should get this one or wait for the already announced 5th game.
@joezilla83 no Japanese only
Great list!
Samurai Shodown is releasing 25 Feb 2020
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is releasing 04 Feb 2020 for $20
I am still schocked The Dark Crystal is releasing for only $20, good stufff
@Nin10doh Still hardly worth more than the console itself!
@jarvismp You won't find any argument from me. Absolutely agree.
@JohnnyC astral Chaim is a awesome game.
@Dirty0814 Yeah, very high on my wish list.
It's looking like it's time for me to break the promise I made to myself about not buying games until I beat more of the ones I already own. Really eyeing Darksiders Genesis (and also Darksiders II). I own the first on Switch and I'm gonna play it once I finally achieve 100% completion on Smash Ultimate (so close, less than 10% left on a NG+ WoL run, and beating every century and all-star smash with every character), but man I wish they'd bring Darksiders III to Switch. Also Animal Crossing is a day 1 buy for me, absolutely cannot wait for it.
Nothing for me, was looking at DMC, but only number 1 on the cartridge, ah well, no thanks.
Looks like i have a month to get through my backlog
