UK chart data is now in for the week ending 14th December, revealing that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the best-performing Switch exclusive in the region.
The game joins both Pokémon Sword and Shield and Luigi's Mansion 3 in the top ten, still performing very well indeed more than two and half years after it launched. Top place honours go to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, with last week's number one, FIFA 20, dropping to third.
Here's a look at this week's top twenty all formats chart:

Not a bad week
Mario Kart 8 and GTA V are stil in there .
Mario Kart 8 isn't really a Switch exclusive tbh, I guess it's a semi-exclusive.
@retro_player_22 Nintendo exclusive!
@Yas Not really Switch exclusive, Nintendo exclusive? Maybe but since Namco also own the other part of Mario Kart (the arcade series), it's not really a Nintendo exclusive series now either. Nintendo still own the IP, just that it isn't completely exclusive anymore.
@retro_player_22
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a Switch exlcusive as it cannot be played (legally) on any other system.
@retro_player_22
It is a Nintendo exclusive as Namco can not make the game for any other system. The same as Rare can not remake Donkey Kong 64 for any xbox.
@retro_player_22 Mario Kart 8 DX is an exclusive, though. Try playing the battlemode on the WiiU version. It’s crap.
I really didn't expect Luigi's Mansion 3 to have such legs but it has been a smash hit.
Congrats to Next Level Games.
I haven't loaded up Mario Kart in 2019 - please more DLC!
I'm surprised at Luigis Mansion 3 and its staying power. It's one of my favourite Switch games so I am happy that its doing well.
Outside bet, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would have a small chance at getting the Xmas number one.
@retro_player_22 yes it is a switch exclusive lol the deluxe specific is only on switch,. Wiiu version is not the same version and can't be played anywhere so yes it's a switch exclusive
@Archius9 I agree...as someone that played itt o death on WiiU..I'd love some DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Mario Kart World touyr and all of its updates and costumes makes me long for the same ''alive and changing'' constant events for a Switch version. We can dream I guess...
13/20 games available on Switch of which 8 are exclusive titles. That’s really impressive! Well done 🇬🇧
Pokemon Sword/Shield weekly UK retail sales:
1) ~190,000
2) ~75,000
3) ~75,000
4) ~45,000
5) ~40,000
Total: ~425,000
It looks like Sword/Shield will approach 500,000 copies sold by the end of the year. Despite having lower 1st week retail sales than Sun/Moon, it seems Sword/Shield's retail sales during the entire holiday season will roughly match that of Sun/Moon back during the 2016 holidays.
Luigi's Mansion 3 has outsold NSMBU DX, Link's Awakening, and Super Mario Maker 2 in the UK. It, alongside Days Gone, are easily the biggest over-performers of the year
@westman98
Any idea of how many copies LM3 has sold?
Tekken 7? Recently on sale or something?
@Toads-Friend I refused to download Tour out of principle Ha.
The last DLC so so brilliant I just dream for some more
It's amazing how much staying power some of Nintendo's evergreen titles have. Well done Ninty.
@SBandy
~160,000 copies
@westman98
Cheers
MK8 Deluxe is 2nd on the UK eshop (a heavily discounted game that's less than £1 is in 1st) so between the 2 charts we can tell that many people in the UK have gotten the Switch and MK8 Deluxe as presents.
@Yas correct Nintendo Exclusive but not Nintendo Switch Exclusive
@driftydrift actually Wii U version can be played anywhere there were even pictures of people playing Wii U version on a plane lol
huge congrats to Luigi's Mansion 3 still selling big numbers to remain in the charts not the most well known or popular Nintendo franchise selling really well
@SBandy by now Luigi's Mansion 3 might be around 2 to 3 million
@KBuckley27
Worldwide? Yeah I can see that.
@CodyMKW
Incorrect. Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are different games.
@CodyMKW
Can't imagine what halfwit actually agreed with your post because it saddens me there are two people that wrong.
I own both games and here are the differences in Deluxe:
Much improved battle mode that does not exist in MK8.
The extra boost that does not exist in MK8 and adds another layer to the races
A second item box that does not exist in MK8 and adds another layer of tactics to the races.
When one game has features another game doesn't have, they aren't the same game bud. To argue otherwise makes someone look stupid.
Just Dance 2020 is selling 2× faster than Just Dance 2019. It has a shot at outselling Ghost Recon Breakpoint during the holidays, which should be a wake up call to Ubisoft to stop chasing the saturated looter shooter market and to go after the largely underserved casual rhythm game market.
I'm very curious how far apart Pokemon Sword and Shield are. I usually assume both versions of the Pokemon title are pretty close in sales. Like a 55-45% divide at most.
@SBandy if it makes you feel better, you can actually like your own post, so I’d imagine they’ve actually agreed with themselves... to make THEMSELVES feel better lol
@SquareOneMJ
haha deary me that would be rather sad wouldn't it!
Anyone noticed Lately BoTW is up there 3+ years going.
@CodyMKW lol if your referring to them fools who Brought their wiiu along with them and plugged it in then ps4, xbox can be played anywhere lol, not like the switch mario kart 8 on switch is a superior version, just accept it lol
@CodyMKW
Yes, yes I have hence how I was able to explain the differences between the two. The extra boost and extra item box both make Deluxe feel totally different from the original due to the extra layer of tactics they provide.
You don't seem to be able to comprehend this simple thing.
@CodyMKW
How?
@CodyMKW
OK fired it up on the Wii U and played a few online games, here is my findings:
1. Doesn't have the purple boost.
2. Doesn't have the extra item box.
3. Doesn't have the new battle stages.
4. Only 720p on the telly
5. Looks rough on the gamepad streamed at 480p, guess I am used to crisp 720p native handheld now.
In summary, I really don't think you have a clue what you are talking about.
