Nintendo has shared a list of the top 15 most-downloaded Switch eShop games of November 2019 in Europe, and you'll never guess which games are sitting in first and second.
Yes, Pokémon Sword and Shield are dominating pretty much everything at the moment, breaking Switch records all over the place and selling faster than hotcakes ever did. They were the most popular games on the European eShop last month, with Sword being the most popular of the two.
Elsewhere, Luigi's Mansion 3 is still performing nicely, although its 31st October release date means that a large portion of its early adopters likely bought it in November anyway.
You can check out the full list below. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads (so no physical sales) in European territories during the whole month:
- Pokémon Sword
- Pokémon Shield
- Luigi’s Mansion 3
- Rocket League
- Overcooked: Special Edition
- Super Mario Odyssey
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Minecraft
- My Memory of Us
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Untitled Goose Game
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Did you download any of these titles on Switch last month? Any surprises in the top 15? Tell us below.

Pokémon and luigi's mansion were the biggest releases so that makes sense that they were on top.
14. Untitled Go-HONK!
Wow only 3 indies in there?
@onex overrated
Luigi's Mansion really should have been #1. It wasn't an overly rushed product like a certain other (pair of) game(s) and was clearly treated with a heck of a lot more love.
Surprised to see Civilization and Rocket League performing so well, but they are both great ports and very deserving of the sales!
@Yosher Unfortunately, there are way more Pokémon fans than people who want Luigi’s Mansion. This list is pure number of downloads on the eShop.
If it’s any consolation, I agree since I love Luigi’s Mansion and never cared for Pokémon.
So, how again are pre-load games counted?
Overcooked 1? Fair, I suppose. I had it and the sequel already but bought all the dlc for number 2 since it was on sale.
of course it would be overrated Pokemon being the top seller
@DockEllisD
I think that LM3 released on the last day of October?
@DockEllisD
It actually took me a few minutes to realise, so I was impressed along with you for a while! And now I am wondering where it placed in the October chart! 😆
Great. Now patch Civ 6, pls
@gaby_gabito both 50% off in the cyber sale, must have boosted sales
breath of the wild... IN 7TH?
@Yosher
I agree, but Pokemon fans are to Nintendo as CoD/Madden fans are to the other consoles. They’ll always be the top sellers unfortunately. In fact, I was listening to IGN’s Nintendo Voice Chat podcast today and the new CoD: MW that just released, became the top selling game of the year, in just its launch month. I find that sad, when so many other great games get overlooked.
No offense to the players that still enjoy them, but I’m tired of seeing them be the top sellers all the time. There are tons of people that buy a console for just one of those games and then buy nothing else until the next years release.
They’ve put unrealistic pressure on developers to be as big as CoD/Madden, or they risk being shut down for not making a monumentally selling game. Ugh! 😑
I recall the Tomb Raider reboot series being somewhat in trouble after the first game because Square Enix though selling 5 million copies wasn’t good enough. 🤦♂️ It’s one of my favorite franchises, but luckily they stuck with it.
Nice to see Civilization there, but i'm surprised Cuphead isn't on the list. Atleast they sold one more.
@Kang81 Absolutely agreed, it gets tiring seeing the same games at the top all the time just because 'fans' buy it en-masse just because it's that franchise.
I mean, I buy games from my favourite franchises regardless too so I probably shouldn't talk. But then Pokémon Sword/Shield came out and I didn't bother with them because I did not want to support their shoddy quality. I dunno how it is with CoD/Madden/FIFA and all that though, quality wise, but I guess they're good enough for the masses still at least.
@Yosher
Yeah, for sports games I can see why they sell, lots of people love sports. I’m not a sports guy, I was always into music, I picked up the guitar and it took up every bit of my free time until I finally went hardcore into games around the launch of the 360/PS3.
I don’t want to stereotype, but I feel CoD sells to all the dude-bro consumers who play nothing but CoD because it’s the ‘in’ thing. (Ok, I guess I just stereotyped 🤦♂️😆) I stopped playing them around the first Black Ops because they just grew stale.
I eat up all the games in a franchise I love too, so I shouldn’t be so judgmental, but I am. 🤷♂️
It’d just be nice to see some of the other amazing games be top sellers for once.
