Video: Get Another Look At The Two New Pokémon In This Galar Research Recap

The Japanese trailer was much cooler. But either way I can't wait for Friday! Very excited to play these games. A recent leak I read this morning confirms a few more Pokemon that were previously believed to be cut as well. Good news!

I've got Friday off work and the games pre-ordered for release day shipping! I'll be playing them all weekend!

@Heavyarms55 So lucky, I preordered the game since July but knowing how far my town is it’s gonna arrive in Monday or even until 22nd

The first Pokémon looks like quite the dapper gentleman. The second one... What the heck is that... Whatever it is, it looks awesome.

@Quarth I can't say I am surprised. I've been called a sheep, a fanboy, "part of the problem" etc...

The game looks like a whole lot of fun to me. I like Pokemon and I'm not that demanding. The game looks like fun so I want to play it. That's all there is to it. I guess that's "part of the problem" I don't toe the line of entitled anger.

But for me, when I don't like something, I move on with my life. When a series I loved deeply changed in a way I didn't like, I left. In my opinion, Disney ruined Star Wars. I hate everything done with SW since they purchased it. But instead of following the franchise around and attacking it, and people who do like it, I just stick with the old material and largely ignore the new stuff. Because no matter how much I kick and scream, no matter how many critiques and constructive criticisms I make, Disney doesn't care and never will, even if I got millions of people to agree with me. There's no point, so I moved on. I wish people who can't accept the new Pokemon games, who aren't even willing to give them a chance, would do the same thing.

And unlike Pokemon, Star Wars didn't have some characters rotated out of one game with a statement that they'd return in the future, Disney Star Wars trashed huge amounts of content, fired hundreds of employees and writers, shut down games in development, cancelled comics, books and games and effectively rebooted the series. It would be like Sony buying Game Freak, ditching generations 3-7 plus all the spin offs and starting over with only the first 251 Pokemon...

And I was arguably a bigger Star Wars fan that Pokemon. And I'm a massive Pokemon fan. I had the games, the books, the movies, the toys, all that, I still do - but only for the old content now.

The big difference is, Pokemon has only made some changes, and has de-canonized nothing. Nothing has been deleted from the Pokemon world, they've stated cut Pokemon will return in future games and I can totally live with that. But apparently that's just unacceptable for other people.

And frankly, maybe it's my eyes but when people say the new games don't look good or look like 3DS games, I can't see it. I don't remotely understand that critique. But hey, I have worn glasses all my life - maybe there's a level of detail that I've just never been able to see.

@StarViruZ Where did you order from? Did they just not have the option? You must live in a really rural town!

I'm gonna buy it but I won't expect a masterpiece because clearly it's not.

@Heavyarms55 Everyone here can decide for themselves if they are ready to move on. The reason they give backlash is because they want to see improvement. I understand ignoring a franchise like Star Wars because you don't like the direction it's been taken (and like you said Star Wars and Pokémon are different cases, as it stands Disney can hardly be influenced because their products are just for profit not to be pieces of art) but asking the others to do the same is rather pointless when they have different intentions. You can see this game is rather rushed don't you? Look at the scaling of Wailord, it looks like a pool floaty:

Most of us are just hoping Gamefreak steps it up a bit with their next entry and to be a little less like Disney.

and who knows, even Star Wars may one day get a new director with an actual good take on the series.

So two new galar forms of cofragigus and Mr mime, the only good thing about the galar region forms is that they have slight name changes aswell

Have you tried the new Pokemon game? No! So you don't know jack!

So far from what I have seen in the latest 5min+ trailer (which still only shows a fraction of the game), there are lot of new features added to the game. Just your own avatar has been hugely improved with lots more customization options.
The game itself looks impressive. Lot more detailed and I like the fact, like they introduced in last years Lets Go games, you can now see wild Pokemon moving around, which adds a lot to the immersion.
They have added a lot of very welcome Quality of Life improvements to the game as well.

So either try the game for yourself or actually wait for some "real world" gameplay videos and full reviews of the game, before bashing the new Pokemon games into oblivion based on so called leaks.
No one has the full game yet. No one has played the full retail version yet!

@Heavyarms55 Like you, I am excited for the release. Fortunately, my local store where I preordered is having a midnight release.

@Edelgard Trainers apparently disappear during certain moves in battle and the frame rate drops even after being locked to 30.

@Preposterous Lmao the way the models turn around in this game screams how unpolished this game is. And the starter beating a gigantamax pokemon in one shot just goes to show how stupidly pointless the gimmick was in the 1st place.

@Heavyarms55 Well said. Not many days left now. Let us ignore the negativity for now. I think the game will be a solid 8/10 for me. Most Pokémon games have been that for me.

@Quarth While I have no doubt I'll have fun with it, I mean, I had fun with the Let's Go games, I'm reserving any guess about how I will rate it until after I actually play it.

I'd give the Let's Go games a 5 or a 6. And I do expect Sw/Sh to be better. The question remains, how much? Hopefully quite a lot.

@Heavyarms55 Yeah, we'll see on Friday and the following weeks. Still not decided on the starter... First I was going for Grookey, but now I'm leaning for Sobble.

@Quarth Yup, we will. I'm planning to go with Grookey for my first play through.

@Judal27 This has always been a problem in the Pokemon games. You can either out level your Pokemon to such extend or just bring the right Pokemon with you (since Specific Pokemon have such a huge advantage over others), that you can practically one shot yourself through all the gyms and even the League.

This is nothing new. To suddenly make a lot of fuss about this is silly.
