LOL 😆
My Little Riding Champion on Nintendo Switch.
Kinda Random for a "shovelware" game.
Seems like a very weak first 5 months of 2019. A bit similar to what happened back in 2018.
Slim pickings for me other than Yoshi, but that's ok, I'm not upset. Just gonna save money for a crazy good summer. Lots of games I'm interested in are coming then.
Shovel Knight won't come out on April 9
What is the significance of the Revali amiibo being on this list? I was under the impression it had already been released
March/April
Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon [Asia import]
Yoshi’s Crafted World
Final Fantasy VII
Unravel 2 [UK import]
Xenon Racer
Fate Extella Link
Darksiders
Ace Attorney Trilogy [JP import]
Final Fantasy X/X-2 [Asia import]
Final Fantasy XII
Dragon’s Dogma
Mortal Kombat 11
Super Dragonball Heroes
FYI- Not in March/April
Assassins Creed III Remastered
Team Sonic Racing
Bloodstained
Mario Maker 2
Switch library is bulking out with quite a few timeless classics over the next few months. I needed Darksiders on a handheld. That's so awesome. Definitely needed Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XII which never got a handheld release to date. Dragons Dogma, one of my fave Capcom games beside Monster Hunter, finally a portable hybrid Assassins Creed that's not a spinoff (though it includes the Vita ex-exclusive too which is cool). So many games I'm excited to see land on Switch.
"More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games", fist on the list: "My little ridding champion"...
OK.
Definitely not the strongest of lineups over the next 2 or 3 months outside of Yoshi and the Ace Attorney Trilogy, but that’s fine. It just means I have more time to save up for the several good games coming out from June through the rest of the year
So... Time to dig in the backlog...
This serves as a perfect reminder for me to preorder FF X/X-2 from PlayAsia.
Yoshi! The most anticipated game of the year for me. Can't wait to finally be getting this game later this month.
FFVII will be my other game purchase this month, maybe I'll get Xenon later as well. Good month!
@JaxonH "Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon [Asia import]"
Boy, somebody really wants that game.
No joke, it was the first game I looked for when I got here, then I looked for a comment by you when I didn't see it. 😂
I could actually see my wife playing it. You ever play Evolution 1 + 2 on Dreamcast? This looks like those and she enjoyed those.
Slim pickin’s for me.
Was excited about Yoshi until I played the demo. I have a feeling this is Kirby all over again (too short and easy). I’d love it if I was 7 still.
I have better things to do these days than waste time on less than stellar games anyway. I will just continue to play Smash and Katamari as work allows.
Patiently waiting for the 1st party heavy hitters and the first half of the year is incredibly sparse (just like 2018). Mario Maker 2, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, and Luigi’s Mansion - I’ll be waiting until at least June it seems. Oh well - at least they are coming.
@rjejr
Unfortunately I was a teenager getting in trouble when Dreamcast was out. We had one in the rec room of the behavioral rehabilitation facility I was in, and I played Ready to Rumble Boxing, but not much else.
I love Final Fantasy, ever since I played X on the Vita. And dungeon crawlers are a genre I've yet to find the right game for. Chocobo's Dungeon looks like the one. The one that can make me love the genre (always believe it just takes playing the right game for any genre to be amazing). I preloaded digitally (thank you 1tb micro SD preorder, all my cares have been cast aside... for now anyways). But how can one resist a full retail release in English?
So many Play-Asia imports lately. Unravel 2 EU, Chocobo's Dungeon Asia, FFX/X-2 Asia, Ace Attorney Trilogy JP, World of Final Fantasy Asia, Onimishu Warlords JP... yikes. I'm just glad English retail are being released and Nintendo finally gave us region free
@JaxonH Why don't we just have you make this article every month?
@JaxonH If you ever learn to read and speak fluent Japanese even you won't have enough time to play all the games you want to.
And I thought Dreamcast was before your time but w/ all your Frankenstein systems and the number of ports the past few years I considered you may have come across those games somewhere. They weren't great, but they were cute, I watched my wife play them both.
I dont' like to double dip but I'll probably have to for Grandia 1+2, and Skies of Arcadia if it ever gets ported to Switch.
Oh. Yoshi comes out on a certain political date...
Only USA prices and USA release dates no one else exists on the planet.
Right gotcha we don't matter. 🙄🙄
@Starvald It's actually much worse, except April is better this year. Really total bummer, the list above is a lot of extremely overpriced and really old ports (except Dragon's Dogma seems like an awesome price) with a new Yoshi game and MK11. May looks worse than April. NL should have at least tossed on a link to the Playasia physical of Phoenix Wright.
@Lionyone They prob make more money pimping out the Amazon USA affiliate linkage. Site doesn't give a f about it's audience. Cuz why is there not even a Phoenix Wright Playasia link (yes it was out in Feb, but the western release is in April)?
@Dang69 Asking because I’m too lazy to research: does the Asian version of PW have an English option?
@justin233 YESSIR! Ordered mine yesterday for $30 bucks, used a code (HAMSTER or VITAFR) for 3 bucks off to offset the shipping cost and got it for like $36 and change. It's already out in Japan so you'll be getting it a month ahead of time. I've ordered a few things off Playasia and have zero probs, great customer service too.
Oh dear, more coming out than I anticipated. Not to mention that Super Robot Wars price!! Looks like a few imports are on the cards.
wasn't super Mario maker slated for july?
Yoshi is the only Switch game on my radar until Mario Maker 2. I'm sure I will get Xenon and Lego Movie 2 (just saw it, fantastic just like the first!) when their prices drop.
Just like last year, a terrible first 3-4 months of the year. I’m interested in truebrook though
@edgedino Pretty sure it's June, but I don't think the exact date has been given yet.
Paw Patrol on a Roll 🐾!!! Nabbin’ that one for a cool 40 on Day 1. 🐶
@Morshufan1 youre not really saving tho, if you buy the same amount but they release the games inside only a few months. Ive been trying to keep your mindset tho. This is a bummer after the gaps last year.
@Dang69 Awesome. Will definitely order it sometime soon. Thanks!
I’m genuinely looking forward to Yoshi. I’ve also decided to try out Wasteland 2 since the physical game is the same cost as digital ( hallelujah). Truberbrook has me intrigued but I’ll pass until a sale.
Personally I’m okay with waiting until summer for these heavy hitters as I’ve still got a very sizeable backlog and I’ve just started Hollow Knight ( I’ve realized while exploring the map that it’s going to be a large time sink lol). I’m optimistic that I will put a dent in my backlog before Yoshi... maybe a little delusional...
@Mamabear That's a way healthier attitude than I have! I think FE getting twice delayed has just got me really bummed out. I play Smash everyday (130 hrs) but I need something that isn't a JRPG (FE is more tactics goodness) and something that won't just...stress me out like Smash. I played the Yoshi demo and thought the graphics looked pretty soggy to me (not the end of the world if it was faster paced). Wasteland 2 flew under my radar, I'll keep an eye out when it launches! April 18th is my bday, so maybe it'll be my new game prez to myself.
Should probably remove Shovel Knight
@Starvald Wouldn't have been as bad if they didn't delay FE 2 weeks after reconfirming the Spring 2019 release date...
E3 will surely drop more concrete release dates for known upcoming/in-development titles. I like the Yoshi demo, but I still have Wooly World.
This is a rather sad list. I don't really mind though as I have around a billion games in my backlog.
Interested in:
MK11
Final Fantasy X
Wasteland 2
That's nice..but I will be very happy to see titels like Red Steel 2...hope in near future!
I'm not so sure all of those Nintendo Switch games are awesome...
@rjejr
I already don’t have enough time.
But Trials Rising... my goodness, this is my new fave game of 2019. My next seriously anticipated title though, is probably Final Fantasy XII (since I already played X and VII is a bit too old school for me right now- maybe one day I’ll get in the mood for it again). And Dragon’s Dogma. And Darksiders. Those 3 all drop in April though. Nothing I’m dying to play that releases in March. Some titles of interest, but nothing that’s “oh my gosh I need it NOW”.
If I finish Trials, I’ll go back to Tales of Vesperia until the April slaughter. A full month to kill though, man... once April hits I’m good. Couple bangers in May to follow, then Mario Maker 2 in June and it’s off to the races with Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest Builders 2 in July.
Is Grandia 1/2 even confirmed for the west? Langrisser 1/2 never got announced outside Japan. Hope that’s not the case for Grandia (which I’ve never played but will gladly try based on your recommendation).
The Caligula Effect looks Persona esque. Gonna look into that. FF X, loved that game, will probably get. Dragons Dogma also
@Starvald good thing we're all adults here and have other responsibilities.
@RandomLeo00 You never know, you might like it!
Just found out the other day that you can ship games international with Amazon Global. Just a mention for those who seek some Xtreme Japanese fun next month. 😉
... Or Final Fantasy. 😅
@JaxonH I'm not sure how well I remember Grandia 1, just that I played both it and Lunar Silver Star Story Complete back to back and they were both really good. Not sure how well they'll hold up today, that was 20 years ago, but they were good.
Grandia 2, while not the best game, not in my top 5, but it had the best battle system I've ever played, even now. Not sure how well that will hold up either after XC but I'm looking forward to playing it again to find out. And I feel pretty good about it coming west, it was on at least 3 systems I think. And it was linear and fairly short, maybe 40 hours, so I can squeeze that in.
Have you never played FF12? The story line in 12 was fairly forgettable after 10, though Fran the bunny girl was hot, and my wife liked the graphics, but the after game was good. I've always referred to it as FF: Monster Hunter. Not b/c it's anything like MH which I've never really got into but the post game side missions lasted for 50 hours. Can't remember why it was fun, but I had to beat every one. I think I'm still 3 short. One only came out on Wednesday's between 2-3 while it was snowing in some far off ravine, something insane like that.
Just finished playing the new DmC5 demo on PS4. I had forgotten how fun those games were. The final demo boss kicked my butt and I died but now I'll need to look into renting it.
I guess March will be the month I work through my backlog. Nothing I'm really interested in.
@rjejr
Ya I always liked the Bayonetta/DMC games. Maybe I’ll check the demo out today... Or not. I think I preordered that game a long time ago and just forgot about it. Was going to cancel when I heard about 1000+ dollars of move sets they’re selling, but forgot to do that also.
I hear the most mixed things about 12- some say it’s the best in the entire series and others say it’s the worst one they played. All I know is my brother likes it, and you seem to like it, and I played the beginning part and it was pretty good. I have the game twice over already. But I don’t seem to finish games unless they’re on Switch nowadays. Last game I finished on another console... MH World. I guess you could say I finished it but, I got bored in the end game. First monster Hunter I can say that about. I know they’ve added a bunch of stuff now and it’s probably way better but at the time after launch it was really bad for end game. And even now I don’t think the core structure has changed... it just needs that expansion.
@JaxonH Biggest problem with FF12 was it cam eafter FFX. But it's also a ral FF game, unlike X-2, so it's enjoybale. I also ddn't liek 9, fun enough game but nothign memorable aceept Vivi, and I knwo a lot of peopel liek that one.
I was just going through my Dreamcast collection with my son and still have both Grradia 2 and Skies of Arcadia so if I can get my Dreamcast to work I don't need those. Grandia 1 I have on PS1 disc, those work on most systems I have.
Thinking about replaying Genji on PS3, The original, before the giant crabs, it was really good. At least thats how I remember it.
Gotta go, SNL is on.
@MoonKnight7 yeah I understand what u mean, only game I might get is Saints row the third, there's so many games coming out in summer and then E3 is also in summer and we don't know what they might announce, so I'm gonna save as much as I can.
Probably Yoshi. I need to play through a bit of my backlog. Think I have 93 games for My Switch now 🤣💓
Tried Yoshi (Demo), but its just too easy which make it boring imo. Its great looking but ultimately dull and too easy.
Dragons Dogma still doesn't seem to have a pre-order anywhere.
