With all the excitement surrounding E3 at the moment, it can be pretty easy to drift off into dreams of future titles that may or may not even exist. Just for a moment, though, let's return to the present to see how Nintendo titles have faired in the UK charts this week.
As you can probably tell from the title of this article, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Nintendo's highest charting game this week, speeding and screeching its way back up to eighth place from last week's eleventh. Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are still hanging on to top 20 positions - currently sitting at numbers 15 and 20 respectively - but it's an otherwise quiet week for Nintendo entries on the whole.
The newly released action RPG Vampyr, World Cup taster FIFA 18 and critically acclaimed God of War are currently stealing the show at the top of the pile. Here's the top ten:
- Vampyr
- FIFA 18
- God of War
- Detroit: Become Human
- Far Cry 5
- Fallout 4
- State of Decay 2
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- GTA V
- Overwatch
What do you make of this week's charts? Do you expect any surprise reveals at Nintendo's E3 Direct that could dent this list in the coming weeks? Let us know in the comments below.

Looking forward to the day when all of the top 10 games are free-to-start battle royale games.
@rjejr Just wait until Super Mario Battle Royale.
Metroid prime 4 and F-Zero SX haven't reached top 10 yet?
What about Pikmin 4, The last story 2 and Jet force Gemini 2?
MK8 speeding up to 8th place for no conceivable reason? Must be that rubber band AI at work.
No mention of Sushi Striker?
Mario kart 8 is basically most peoples game that they get when they buy the system, that’s why it’s up there.
@Knuckles-Fajita Too low to be mentioned I'd guess.
No sushi
Poor sushi
Fallout 4 will be the new GTA V ?
Mario kart will be the new GTA V
I heard Vampyr sucks......😒
“it can be pretty easy to DRIFT off into dreams of future titles”
Heh.
I wish we would see more racing games coming to the platform.
Let's be honest, there is Mario Kart, Fast RMX and Gear Club.
Clearly Mario Kart is the best and most popular.
The other two are good but not system sellers so this genre is lacking of popular franchises.
And Nintendo doesn't have to rely on third party devs as they have IPs to cover it, they just need to do it.
@SmaggTheSmug "Super Mario Battle Royale"
That's the next $20 MK8D DLC after Octolings.
Rereading that - maybe SSB will be free-to-start with 6 characters and 3 arenas we have to buy all the rest as DLC. And need to pay for the online subscription.
GTA 5 must have made them so much money now. Imagine the extra sales it would get from a Switch release.
Guess the UK best-selling 3DS game this week....
...Mario Kart 7.
I can never figure out why some of the game names are in bold... never can see a pattern. #intrigued
Well, that's interesting. Seems new people getting the system are getting MK8 DX as their multiplayer game.
@tourjeff I'm with you there. Love racing games as well and wish we had more. MK8D is obviously timeless and I had a great time in the 50 or so hours into gear club. Lost my save file and just have no motivation to put more time into it however. Hoping we get more arcade/simcade racers with real cars soon. I know they never would but if nintendo teamed up with another studio and made a Forza Horizon or NFS style game for switch I would die of happiness!!
Just like this chart. All the excitement surrounding E3 at the moment has nothing to do with Nintendo. Maybe SE will show something new this morning.
DARKSOUL plummet out of the top 20. Hope it has better legs on Switch.
@redd214 I don't if you are aware but Nintendo owns the Cruis'n series and not long ago they released an Arcade called Cruis'n Blast (search for the videos on YouTube).
It looks great and had only 4 tracks but I could totally see Nintendo getting it adapted to the Switch with more tracks, cars etc.
That would be so great!
@tourjeff didn't know that at all! I remember playing those games as a kid in arcades, would be a perfect revival, thanks!
@Luna_110
No only that, people are buying Switch's to play MK8D. Not many games can shift the units like this does 14 months after its (second) release.
@redd214 Yeah, I used to play that too on the N64 and Arcades, such a fun game!
It would be amazing if Nintendo could release that on the Switch.
@Agramonte What E3 are you watching? The press conference that tried to pretend the Switch didn't exist was dull as dirt, and the exciting press conference was more than happy to include the Switch, and not just as a mere afterthought. I'm under no delusion that everything Bethesda showed is Switch-bound, but it's also clear that Bethesda is serious about the Switch and will bring what makes sense.
@Mr_Pepperami can confirm. T'was mine. No idea why I didn't pick uo BOTW first. Never played a Zelda game before really so was apprehensive. Thank god I did in the end haha
@JammyTWOsugars it was my second and that’s only because it wasn’t out yet when I first bought the switch. Honestly I think it will overtake super mario odyssey for best selling game on the system at some point.
RIP Sushi Strikers
It was the 15th best-selling Switch game and the 20th best-selling 3DS game of the week of its release. That means the game has probably sold <1000 copies on the Switch and <200 copies on the 3DS during its launch week in the UK.
This may be the first truly big flop on the Switch. Not that it was totally unexpected, given the complete lack of marketing and the fairly unappealing gameplay.
@PanurgeJr oh yeah,... Fallout Shelter announcement is the talk of E3. 😜
@Rhaoulos The Last Story 2 would be awesome. A new Jet Force Gemini game would be great too.
@agramonte, that was very sarcastic. do you believe in nintendo switch? You seem more mad at the system, than the companies.
@ekwcll well one is in reply to the "excitement at E3" and the other to a reference on the Bethesda showing. So yeah, they meant to be sarcastic in nature.
I believe in Switch as a handheld - best ever made. And at this point it is obvious that Nintendo will need to carry it tomorrow. Probably some publishers holding back for that also, like SE.
Very simple answer for MK being back in the charts. Nintendo has been running TV adverts for the Switch featuring MK8 (with a bit on the end highlighting that MK7 & 2DS bundle is available)
