And just in time for Wimbledon 2018 in the summer!

Another 6-7 games over next 2 months. Admittedly I am more hyped for dark souls and wolfenstein more then anything.
Man these two months could be expensive for me. Def picking up Mega man x collection and Captain toad as I really really loved that game. Mario tennis Aces and wolfenstein 2 are review based pick ups for me. If they review well then I’ll def get them
Amazon are showing Flashback as 19/06/2018, not 24/07/2018. I'm definitely going for that one!
Wasn’t Okami coming out in July?
Edit: Aug 9 according to IGN
Have Megaman X collection preordered. Thinking about preordering Go Vacation. After E3 if nothing else like it gets announced.
The demo definitely convinced me of getting Aces (despite the crappy online), and I've been looking forward to Captain Toad. The others are "maybe when discounted".
I'm interested in Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded – looks a bit Mystery Dungeon-like maybe? – but can't find anything significant/helpful about it online.
Mario Tennis Aces , Wolfenstein 2,Crash Trilogy are day one for me. Captain Toad I've always wanted to play but never got round to it on Wii U,so I'll be getting it this time for sure just not day one. I like that Mario themed playstand too. I already have a stand as well as my arcade cabinet so I don't need it but I'll probably buy it anyway.
It may sound silly, but of all of these I'm most interested in one of those mostly useless stands. Well, and Mega Man X.
My Switch games shopping list :
June 2018 = Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary
July 2018 = Sushi Strikers, Mario Tennis Aces
August 2018 = Go Vacation
September 2018 = LABO Toy Cons kit 01
Meanwhile...
I will try to buy 3DS Games Japan version during June - October 2018 before i buy Japanese 3DS machine on November 2018 according to my plan.
Looking at the prices, Crash Bandicoot is the most attractive title for me right now.
I will probably get the Sonic Mania Plus add-on because I never really got into Sonic Mania and I hope this could pull me back in.
Octopath definitely has my attention, but in the end the pacing will matter a lot and Square-Enix games can get a bit draggy. I will wait for reviews and probably a price drop too.
If my girlfriend is into it, I would grab Captain Toad too.
Look at this list, I have like 5 unfinished titles on my Switch right now. And I'm already considering to buy another 4...
MotoGP 18 - the Switch version is due 28th June I believe.
Well I'll admit, that's a whole lot more games than I thought there were. Some of which I don't know, but there's a lot more that I do know.
Probably just Ys VIII for me, and I'm expecting it to be $30 on PSN when the Switch releases b/c thats' happened several times on previous late PS4 games ported to Switch so I'll buy it there.
I played Mario Tennis Aces over the weekend and couldn't get into it, too many specials and supers and gauges for my liking in a tennis game. If it were a 2D fighter maybe.
My kid will probably want Sonic Mania.
1 week until E3. Saving our money for Yoshi, Pikmin 4 and SSB. And XC2 and Mario v Rabbids when those games are done. MvR seems to be getting close.
That Mario stand may come in handy for Labo building this summer, may need to keep it in mind. It matches our SMO Switch.
Mario tennis aces
Yonder
Mario stand.
What happened to Dark Souls?
This month will be probably just Mario Tennis for me, and a few smaller games.
Towards the end of this month, though (just a few days after Mario Tennis releases), I'm taking a 10 week break from playing video games. So I guess I'm not playing much this month at all. 😂
Crash comes out June 30th, not July.
Hmmmmm. Was stoked for Mario Tennis. I love Mario and Love tennis and never played one in the series before. The demo, however, has really put me off. Waaaay too complicated (OK, I admit it - I’m old) and whenever I went online I won one match and then faced someone with a character I couldn’t access who was way too good with standard shots so fast I couldn’t return them and I didn’t win a point. I preloaded the demo all ready, and uninstalled it after playing the tutorial three times and the tournament ten times.
Captain Toad though? All over that and it’s out the week before I fly out on my holiday.....
You guys forgot about Lumines again.
Mario Tennis Aces and Captain Toad for certain. Octopath was certain but now I'm unsure given how much backlog I have so I'll let Nintendo's E3 be the deciding factor.
Some links don't work currently Go Vacation for one plus with they included Amazon UK
I'm gonna need to get another part time job to pay for all these games lol
About this "drought"......
The next few months are going to be amazing! There are at least 10 games I´m interested in!
I will take the Splatoon 2 DLC. From this list Octopath and Sushi Striker when the price drops.
I had no interest in those d-pad joycons... until I bought SF Anniversary. Now I need one.
Wolfenstien, Octopath and Monster Hunter for me. Plus, who knows what surprises await from E3.
Wow, I imagine the next 3 months have more I'm interested in than Christmas. Sushi Strikers (the demo sold me on a game I otherwise didn't care about), Mario Tennis (same), Ys, Shining Resonance, Octopath (already bought and paid for the collector's Ed.) Okami HD, wolfenstein, after that.
Shining Resonance Refrain is nice since it's one of the few third parties getting parity day and date release with PS4/XBO.
I'm still salty about the Sonic physical release.
@rjejr The retail version of Mario Tennis Aces has a "simple" mode that's just basic Tennis with charge shots, no specials and gauges. I think that's more my speed as well. And Ys....like with South Park that's just a game that wants to be portable. It's been on sale already a few times on PSN IIRC. There's always the Nintendo Tax for multiplats. But unlike Wii/Wiiu it's not a definitively inferior version without benefit. I paid $50 for DQ:B and finished it half on handheld. If I'd bought it for $20 on PSN it would be sitting in my backlog unplayed.....sometimes it's a good value.
The Mario Tennis Demo sold me. Best Mario Tennis since the original.
@citizenerased It's basically Mystery Dungeon with Touhou Characters, but it takes more inspiration from the Shiren the Wanderer Mystery Dungeon Games rather then Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
Captain Toads treasure tracker, Mario Tennis Aces
@NEStalgia What about the Sonic physical release?
Mario Tennis Aces has a "swing" mode - yes they really called it that - where you swing the Wiimotes - I mean Joycon - to hit the ball. Not sure if that's what you meant by simple mode. I did like the buttons for lob, slice, drop etc - most of my winning shots came on slices to the corners - but I'm not sure if we can play story mode like that of it it's just it's own game. I got crushed in the tutorials, too many button combos to remember, I'd never make it through story mode that way.
http://mariotennis.nintendo.com/aces/modes/
But here's the kicker - neither of my 2 teen boys touched the free trial last weekend. If neither of them want to play it, and I'm not getting a 40 hour AAA game out of it, I'm not buying it until it's $20.
As for YS I have seen it on sale a few times, around $45 - $50, but decided to wait until the Switch version dropped. Not like I have time to play it anyway, I bought The Wticher 3 for last week $5.99 and still haven't touched it. I may get it on Switch only b/c it comes w/ a map and Prime discount makes it $48. I'll never play portable though, old man, bad eyes. But I'll wait until after E3 to pre-order it on Switch if it's not on sale on PSN before 6/26.
Also waiting on E3 to see what I'll be spending money on this year still. My kids want SSB, whether they buy it day 1 or it's a gift from Santa depends on the release date. We all want Yoshi and Pikmin 4, whether day 1 or holiday gifts again depends on release date. But I do kind of have my mind made up for a JRPG July and August, just have to decide if it's YS, XC2, KH1-6 or NNK2. I own KH1-6, rest I need to buy.
Too many games. Not used to this issue with Nintendo. It's great.
I've got the X collections pre-ordered, cancelled my Dark Souls pre-order after hearing that the new version isn't that great on the other systems even, and with an unknown date for the switch version i'll wait for a review before thinking about it again. Probably will pick up monster hunter in August as well. I really liked world, and think i'm ready for a non normalized one now that I got a better introduction to the series.
From this list....
Definite future buys: Octopath Traveler, Steamworld Dig 2
Maybes: Crash Bandicoot NSane Trilogy, Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee
Mildly Interested: Ys VIII
@rjejr Because I bought that super expensive boxed CE with the statue last year, preordered it the day Switch preorders went up, and all I got was the lousy download code. Now they have a physical release. They owe me.
Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch. Enjoy Swing Mode with anyone, anytime, anywhere. Have you checked the coming soon section of the eshop lately? There's the most bizarre "dating simulation game" entirely in Japanese, featuring a gravure model. For NA release! Weirdest thing I never expected. I'm half tempted to buy it just for the oddity and the practice with situational Japanese, however I'm not sure I want to know where the dialog (and photography) lead....
But no, simple mode isn't joycon swinging, it's regular online play but featuring "classic" tennis mode without the new "star points" "energy gauge" "special shots" "zone shots" etc. It's just hitting the ball with the slice, lob, flat, and drop shots, and holding the button longer to make it more powerful. I imagine story mode will involve all the features though...I also imagine story mode will be short, mostly tutorial for online play, the way most online games' stories go.
Hmm do your boys like ARMS? It's kind of like arms only better.
Wait, where did you get Witcher 3 for $5.99? I thought $20 was a good deal on PSN! I'm waiting for MS Store's big sale on Thurs....I'd rather have it on the X. But then I bought TES: Online. Until yesterday it was pre-order Summerset for $40 and get the whole base and Morrowind expansion included. I'm an Elder Scrolls sucker even though I hate MMOs.
Well if you're not playing it portable I guess there's no reason to get it on one platform over the other. For me I'd never actually beat those longer games if I couldn't pick it up portably! Plus I can actually see it handheld. Over on the TV it's all a haze
Tough call on that RPG list. I have YS and Shining Resonance on preorder. Already own XC2 and NNK2 which I haven't played yet. Working on South Park ATM. It's shockingly actually a serious quasi-SRPG....I did NOT expect that. I was kind of embarrassed getting trashed in some battles. It's actually challenging at times.
Don't forget Octopath if you're into old school menu driven goodness.
@Snaplocket "a map, collector's cards and a mini poster"
Which is why I'll buy it on Switch if PSN doesn't put it on sale for $30 in the next 3 weeks. But the pattern has been established for games for half price on PSN when they finally release on Switch. Sorry I can't recall any titles but there have been at least 3 over the past year, I've been paying attention.
Looking forward to playing Flashback again. I love how they kept the original box art ( if that’s official)
@NEStalgia I can't do those Octopath graphics. I can do turn based if need be, but my bottom line graphics are Dreamcast. Watching my son play the YS demo on PS4 I thought he was playing Grandia 3 on the Dreamcast.
TW3 was on sale for $20. I had a 20% off coupon for watching a Detroit video on some twitch like PS Live website, 2nd I had, forgot to spend the first before it expired.
https://live.playstation.com/
And I got a $10 off PSN coupon for points on my Playstation credit card. Not sure how I had just enough, I never use that card, but I had just enough so I cashed them out before they changed their mind. So technically I spent $15.99 but I'm not counting the $10 b/c it came and went to fast w/ no effort on my part.
My 1 son is into ARMS a bit, but not that much. My other son is more cerebral, he'll probably buy Mushroom Wars 2 in a couple of weeks.
Tennis is tennis, it can wait. The backlog is real, and we value money.
Skipping Aces, will just get Ys Lacrimosa this month.
Next month Toad & Octo for sure!
@rjejr Octopath graphics are fine. Did you try the demo? It's not actually a 2D game. It's a 3D game rendered with 2D textures with pixel art sprite characters (kind of like Mario & Luigi games but intentionally pixelated.) I hate "retro pixel art" games too, but Octo isn't that. It's actually kind of complex what they do. Ironically, a Dreamcast doesn't have the power to render Octopath. It's doing complex shader and lighting things on a 3D world to give it a sort of pop-up-book pixel art look. You have to try the demo if you haven't. It looks better in motion. I guess video would show it too.
Ahh, yeah I had the Detroit coupon thanks to some helpful PS4 thread advice here! I spent it on GoW and Yakuza 6, Moss, and Shadow of the Colossus. Was going to buy Last Guardian too, bu it wouldn't let me add it to the cart, and then didn't let me add over $150 in funds, and it was a mess as PS Store's cart always is. (discovering game sharing for 2 consoles in the house really cut down the costs by going digital on PS/XB!)
Wait. you have a Playstation credit card?? Mind blown. I never thought I'd know someone who actually applies to something like a Playstation credit card.
Yeah....the backlog is painful. I still don't think I'll need a PS5 until the mid-gen refresh in 6-7 years.
Definitely Octo, probably Aces and maybe YS
I gotta really play Vampyr first though!
Ys8, Shining, and Flipping death! ... Probably give Incredible to my nephew 😊 Jun/July is finally here!!!
Skipping on Octopath. You can put as much of a light show as you want - That retro nonsense looks awful on my TV. Maybe once it hits $40 on black friday.
Staying low in August. September is going to be expensive on PS4. 🙄
@nab1 Me too + Megaman. I Just wish they could have switched the analog and dpad positioning.
@Agramonte Sept on PS4 is gonna be amazing: Spiderman, DRAGON QUEST 11 AND Spyro are gonna be so good...the new Tomb Raider could be...Switch has Okami HD and Monster Hunter Ultimate...but not sure how much I'll like it after being spoiled playing World. Spiderman has so much hype that I wonder IF Nintendo will release a Smash that month. Smash will still be a hit but it's kind of crazy how much people are bubbling for Spiderman.
@Dang69 Yep,... and now Code Vein is also in September.
https://gematsu.com/2018/06/code-vein-launches-september-28
No way I can play everything I want in September... and Red2 is the next month. It is such a great problem to have 😁
yeah, no way I can go back to XX after MHW... I downloaded the Japanese demo again - and na - It is just to big of a jump back. Even the 4 download screens to get to a hunt got to me - and I know they were there before.
September/October is PS4 in my book.
Crash, Octopath, Captain Toad, and Pokemon are all 100% for sure plan to buy, and several others interest me on the list as well as maybes, like Mario Tennis and a few titles I hadn't heard of and need to look up.
All-Star Fruit Racing. Can’t wait.
@NEStalgia "Wait. you have a Playstation credit card?? Mind blown"
Oops, I may have mispoke on the PS credit card, it may simply be a Sony cc that I only use on PSN so it's a PS card in my head. Apologies.
I'll try the Ocotpath demo, I need a break from Pokemon Quest anyway. But even if I like it I doubt my wife will, she watches me play all my JRPG so it needs her approval.
Mario Tennis Aces and Crash Bandicoot are the two titles I’m most looking forward to. The Aces demo last weekend was excellent. And I’m a sucker for a good platformer, so Crash is my kind of game.
June
Mario Aces
Wolfenstein 2
July
Octopath Traveller
Hori joypad
August
Okami
Monster Hunter
I would really want a "NINTENDO CLASSIC MINI FAMICOM SHONEN JUMP VERSION" but surprise surprise it is all sold out. I bet this will sell for a crazy amount on ebay, yet another overpriced scalper item it seems.
Oh well, here is hoping Nintendo releases some more NES classics out here in the US.
It feels like Switch already has more retail releases then Wii U had in its lifetime. I have no idea what the official stats are, but looking at this article, it certainly seems like a ton more games are making their way to Switch owners shelves.
Lots of great games to look forward to.
Noice, probably only get 1 thing in here over the course of 3 years lol.
Mario tennis pre ordered probably get wolf and crash. Already got captain toad on wiiu so not bothered although it is a really good game
@Agramonte Code Vein was not on my radar - got a PS4 PRO 3 days after LABO came out and I had an existential crisis while building the Variety Kit, so some upcoming stuff I haven't noticed, anyway...CODE VEIN LOOKS AMAZING! Someone online described it as an anime Dark Souls (love the Souls style games, but the art direction isn't my favorite thing) - been playing the hell out of FE Warriors (even though I don't like Dynasty Warrior games and straight up hate Hyrule Warriors on Switch or WiiU) and Code Vein looks to give me more of a fighting system I want, in a style I love. THANK YOU!
Preordered YS VIII, Sonic Mania Plus, Mario Tennis Aces and Monster Hunter. Plus Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee & Pikachu and Valkyrie Chronicles 4.
Flashback and Mario Tennis Aces on pre-order.
I'll pick up Octopath later down the line, hopefully at a cheaper price, I'm in no rush.
Wolfenstein 2 I'll decide on once I've played New Order and Old Blood.
@Anti-Matter I have way too much on preorder for the rest of the year already strictly on the switch and there is still stuff coming out that I want to pick up for it eventually. It’s intense! I have mario aces picked up, octopath, starlink, dB fighterz, let’s go Pikachu and eevee and they got me with mew in that darn pokeball and then smash. It’s gonna be a great rest of they year!
@Pokefanmum82 your preorder list looks like mine quantity wise I’m glad I’m not the only one lol got mario aces, octopath, dB fighterz, starlink, lets go Pikachu and eevee and smash. My nerd wallets got a burning hole in it and I want monster hunter ultimate too fml
