Nintendo's SNES Classic Edition / Mini is out today, and is providing plenty of retro kicks for those able to get hold of a unit. It's a lovely little device, so we hope everyone trying to get hold of one has been in luck.
To celebrate the launch Nintendo of Europe has released a snazzy trailer to showcase what it's all about. Sorry, North American owners, but it's riffing on the awesome colour scheme of the Super Famicom / SNES PAL design.
Check it out below.
This writer just played Star Fox for the first time; it was worth the wait.

I’m bummed out I didn’t get one. Didn’t preorder fast enough and was too sick to stand in line. Hopefully a restock is coming.
Doesn't look and feel quite right to me actually. I think I liked the two other ones that came out earlier better, both the US and Uk ones; they both felt a bit more '90s authentic. Doesn't change my total hype for the system though.
@justin233 At least here in Norway some shops had a huge stock lying behind the counter! I was shocked to see it today! No kidding!
So at least Nintendo kept their word and indeed made a hell lot more consoles this time than with the NES Classic Mini.
I think the most 90's thing Nintendo has ever done might be the "Super Mario Compact Disco."

Not a single frame of Super Metroid in the trailer. Hang your heads in shame Nintendo advert makers.
Trailer was alright, but I have a feeling the JP version will be better. The NA trailer will probably be between "They tried." and "Monkey VS. typewriter."
Good, but, where is the slogan:
"Now you're playing with power, SUPER POWER"
XD
No need for a launch trailer anymore: I'll just get myself in the mood with the real thing...
Even just picking it up took quite a while: there was a long line of people in front of me, all collecting their preorders, but in the end, it was well worth it. Invited a friend over, and so far, we're having a blast playing all these classics. Trying to get through the first level of Star Fox as we speak, to unlock Star Fox 2.
Screw the guy who thought that was a good idea. I wanted to be able to play it right from the start, but no. Now, we have to "git gud" in classic games first...
EDIT:
Man, I've become a lousy Star Fox player. I can't even get past the first boss. Makes me even angrier at the fool that thought locking Star Fox 2 away was a good idea. Now I have it, and I still may never be able to play it on actual Nintendo hardware. Got no patience to replay a level over and over just to unlock another game. Yègh!Scratch that: made it!
Oh...
Terrible commercial. I was a kid in the 90's but that commercial is a straight rip from saved by the bell. barf.
Really? Where and at what price?
The scalper prices Elkjøp and other stores demand makes me sick.

Platekompaniet in both Oslo City and Jernbanetorget had a shelf full of them behind the counter yesterday when I was there checking for something.
Im not going to buy it, as Im not interested in this retro craze.
haha all ads should be like this! And yes, very much reminds me of saved by the bell!
Picking mine up today from the post office hopefully! I say hopefully because i assume it is the SNES mini and not some bulb holders i ordered...
Oh joy! The main reason the Switch hasn't and probably won't be getting a virtual console.
