Bandai Namco has released a new live-action trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which launches on Switch on 22nd September.
The game - which is already available on PS4, Xbox One and PC - features characters from the famous manga and anime series, and on Switch will offer local multiplayer for up to 6 Switch owners, as well as the ability to battle on a single Switch console using two Joy-Con controllers. Motion controls will also feature, allowing you to feel the power of performing the in-game moves in the comfort of your living room.
The trailer does a surprisingly good job of communicating the unique features of the Switch port, but we really do feel for those overly-smiley actors who probably turned up to work that day expecting a cushy role modelling some expensive shoes or jeans, but ended up grinning inanely into camera and pretending to hurl massive fireballs at one another. You gotta take the rough with the smooth, we guess.

I loved the Simpsons reference.
By the way, as beautiful as Fighterz looks... it looks like a generic 2D fighting game. If someone is undecided between this and that one, I highly recommend this one, specially if you haven't played the first Xenoverse game before.
The last half of that trailer is giving me Wii flashbacks.
Normally this is the part where I say motion gaming is dead. But then I remember that 1-2 Switch sold very well and SF2 did fine for Capcom. Meh.
Considering the way gyro has modernized and streamlined standard aiming controls, I'd say motion controls are here to stay.
Dragonball BudakaiTenkaichi 3 for Wii was awesome so I'm all over this on day 1!
I might not be using the motion controls, but they're shown to be responsive regardless. Certainly not a quick cash-in port.
Sold for me!
Considering I already finished the first (and traded it in) on Switch and own Xenoverse 2 + Season Pass, I was not really considering getting this. Hearing that it's not 60fps when not one-on-one also bothers me.
However I really want more games for Switch and while the games were pretty repetitive, I feel like i'll be bored enough to at least use EBGames' 7 day return policy.
Nintendo will never give up trying to recapture that Wii magic: The Quest for Cheese.
Remember, Kamehameha is Not a Magical word from Dragon Ball series.
This is the Real Kamehameha.
Whenever you say "Kamehameha", you are always remember this King of Hawaii name.
@Anti-Matter All I can see is Beaker from The Muppets...
that one guy looks like asian matpat from the game theorists. doing the moves in game looks like it'll be great for when there are visitors about. i'm in!
I'll admit it, the smiling got a little weird after awhile
Can't wait!
This game is listed at £55 on the eShop, making it (I think) the most expensive game on Switch. Bit expensive if you ask me.
@Anti-Matter um.. NO
@MartyFlanMJFan yes
@MartyFlanMJFan Trying not to burst out laughing at work. Well done.
@Indielink no seriously, someone is holding up a little Beaker in the picture, below your big man's feet lol
Can't wait for this game to be released for switch, the only two dragon Ball games I have right now is DB Fusion, and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the Wii. I only played with motion controls on the Wii so I'm glad there's some of it coming to this game!
Big NOPE for me...I want Dragon Ball FighterZ. But I can see why Nintendo would back this game. It uses all the features of the system.
@DarkScythe13
Where'd you hear the game isn't 60fps for 1 on 1 matches? My research has revealed the contrary: http://www.christianpost.com/news/dragon-ball-xenoverse-2-nintendo-switch-characters-resolution-and-frame-rates-detailed-189568/
Okay, if I didn't already have this game for PS4, I would buy it for the motion controls alone. I am not a fan of motion controls normally but I would love to pull off a kamehameha using them!
@Turbo857 That link you posted mentioned exactly what i stated, though my negative framing of it might have caused some confusion. The game is 60fps for one on one battles, which i presume is strictly one character vs one character (pretty much rare given most battles involve more than one character). For battles involving multiple characters however, apparently it is capped at 30 fps.
I could be wrong in how i interpreted it, and if it so happens that its 30fps in multiplayer only (i.e. Playing the story mode with cpu is at smooth 60fps) then thatd be great...
@DarkScythe13
Nope, my mistake. I misread what you wrote. But I hear ya: It would be nice if multiple character battles supported 60 fps. Perhaps they do if more than one Switch is used? Guess we'll have to wait til the game launches to know for sure.
I see myself doing lots of Galick Guns!!
O yeah was waiting for this one.
@MartyFlanMJFan Oh my god I totally missed that. How on earth did I miss that? This is wonderful.
@roy130390 I respectfully disagree about fighters z. For me I've been more than frustrated than dragonball z games have been stuck as huge arena fighters for the better part of a decade. To see a return to actual fighting mechanics make fighters z my most anticipated dbz game since budokai 3 (not tenkaichi 3 but budokai 3)
I'm still yelling HADOKEN!
Knowing that I hate motion controls, my friend recently forced me to play the Way of the Hado feature on Street Fighter. Needless to say; it's probably the worst thing that's ever existed. This doesn't look much better.
Because it worked so well for Street Fighter on Switch. or like. A thousand Wii games.
@Haywired
I own Street Fighter 2 for Switch and as a motion control advocate I must say... Way of Hado is horrible. That said, I really enjoyed Budokai Tenkaichi 3's motion controls for the Wii (really done well), and Xenoverse 2 looks like it mimics those exactly! It really shouldn't be shoehorned in the same category as Way of Hado
@Oat It's ok, that's understandable. I'm not saying it's bad by any means, however, from what I've seen, there's nothing that stands out for me as a 2D fighter. Iguess I have my share of 2D fighting with Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Injustice.
@WaveBoy I haven't played it, but I have seen enough about it to say that at least for me, it offers nothing new as 2D fighter game. I'm also recommending Xenoverse 2 on my experience, but of course I'm not assuring it's the better game.
I've been looking forward to getting my hands on this titles looks awesome. Day one purchase.
I have the 1st on Steam. Will definitely get the 2nd on Switch.
The portability is a plus. I hope the Switch keeps on going strong.
@Moon Zelda is £59.99 on the eshop.
PS4 and Xbox One versions were £44.99 or £49.99 on release, so its weird to see this version cost more and not include any new content (though motion controls etc was nice). This game is still effectively an almost year old port with performence downgrades.
@XenoShaun Ah right, I didn't know that (picked up Zelda physically). Games sure are expensive these days!
I can't imagine these guys getting the sales they want at such a price considering you can pick it up for about £40 on the other consoles by now. I will be waiting for a sale.
I wish we can do fusion using the joy-cons. That would be awesome! Though I wonder how the controls would be after that.
