The DS and 3DS generations have been fortunate enough to enjoy multiple Etrian Odyssey main-series games and spinoffs. Pretty soon Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth will arrive in the West, adding to the growing collection.
Atlus has released a new trailer to build hype in the form of a video to highlight the Harbinger class; check it out below.
Wielding both a giant scythe and the mysterious energy known as miasma, Harbingers are reapers of destruction ready to protect you at a moment's notice. Besides being able to dish out the damage by cutting down swaths of enemies, Harbingers can harness the powers of miasma to help the party or hurt enemies. Using TP, they can summon powerful miasma armor with passive support or status ailment abilities (like curse, paralyze, etc...). Be warned though, wearing the armor will drain a little bit of HP. They might be an unconventional class, but can be a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.

Don't forget a demo is currently available to download on the eShop; progress from that will be transferable into the full game. Also a digital preview of the art book - included in the launch edition - is also well worth a look; check that out here.
Have you tried the demo yet?

I tried the demo. It feels familiar of course, as I played IV and both Untolds, but, come on, most Etrian fans want their dungeon crawling exactly the same as always but with a few tweaks. And this game delivers this.
The art of this game makes me wan't to buy this game. But idk, maybe I should get the Art Book one day (unless it sells out).
I spent a long time customising my Harbinger in the demo. She's my favourite out of the 5 characters in my team.
Once again 3DS is kicking butt with the awesome games. I want games like this on the Switch. So I'm not sure how my backlog feels about this.
I felt the Untold games were pretty underwhelming. They aren't bad, great even, but they tend to love to haphazardly layer new features without considering how well it enhances the core game. (IE: Creating a cooking system that uses a completely separate item type that's given to you the same way you would any other item.)
EO5 streamlines everything back to where it was in the DS days while still introducing new ideas. And I don't think it's bad to be too similar when it's been nearly 4 years since EO4.
Loved EO4, so I’ll be picking this one up as well. So ready to map out some dungeons again!
I've been playing the demo with the standard Etrian party (although the Dragoon having a gun and there being no Landsknecht, with the Fencer having Chains instead of Links,) mixes things up necessarily), and will add in other classes here and there once I get a feel for their nuances.
I actually forgot that I could use my demo save file in the main game, so that's cool!
I've been playing the demo and I love it sl far! It's a great pick up and play game and it's fairly newcomer fruendly imo. Can't wait to get the launch edition!
I can’t believe how hard the demo is.
Loved the demo, i'm definitely picking this one up at launch.
I love these games, but I think I'm going to have to pass this time. Too many great games coming for Switch, and my backlog is already too big.
