About a month ago it was confirmed that Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You is getting a theatrical release in the West, and a new teaser trailer for the November arrival also confirms some neat events to accompany the film.
First of all, here's the teaser trailer.
There's more, though. Starting on 19th September the official Pokémon site will share a code to get a special Pikachu - in a HAT - for Pokémon Sun and Moon. The kicker is that the code will unlock one of six hat combos but you can only use it once, so you have to choose your Pikachu and then redeem it at the right time. The hat schedule below.

- 9/19/17 – 9/25/17: Original hat (Kanto and Johto regions)
- 9/26/17 – 10/2/17: Hoenn region hat
- 10/3/17 – 10/9/17: Sinnoh region hat
- 10/10/17 – 10/16/17: Unova region hat
- 10/17/17 – 10/23/17: Kalos region hat
- 10/24/17 – 10/30/17: Alola region hat
Finally, those that attend a screening in November will get a QR code for a Pikachu wearing Ash's hat, and this one will be redeemable in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon; attendees will also get a never-before-seen card for Pokémon TCG.
If you want to pre-order tickets in North America use this page; the equivalent UK page isn't live at the time of writing.
Are any of you planning to go to a screening of the movie?

"Do you know the story of how Ash and Pikachu met?"
Yep...
I'll probably go for the Hoenn Pikachu, I've always liked that hat more than the others.
@Tsurii Does that really work? I thought the download cards had a completely different save than the main game.
I.....don't think anything beside the card is worth it....but it'll get banned, anyway.
My 3 year old nephew loves watching Pokemon. He knows the names of more Pokemon than me and tells me about them. It certainly makes babysitting easier as I like Pokemon, although mainly just the games.
"never seen before card" will likely be very seen before card from the Japanese set. I have a set of 7 cards, each with a pikachu wearing one of the different hats. The 7th one came from a Ho-Oh jumbo set with the hat worn being the one form this movie.
It won't be banned but it's not very strong and an't evole for Raichu because it's name will be "Ash's Pikachu"
Convenient timing for me. I've recently finished my Sun playthrough, so I may as well deposit legendaries and useful pokemon in Bank, then restart the game to grab all the hats.
@ImagineerNik The real answer is "Yup...and this movie ain't how it happened."
Seriously, they removed Misty and Brock and put in two unknown blahs running Diamond and Pearl Pokémon. Because, you know, why not erase the past? The dumb kids won't know any better.
Cool event with different variations. I'll be either getting og or hoenn not sure yet. Hoping marshadow and starter hidden ability events are soon tho.
Lazy.
@ImagineerNik
And it can still be watched in YouTube for free.
Marshadow event is from November. Oh and that promo card is NOT never seen before and IS the Japanese card in english. Great card though.
Well this'll be the last straw for people hating on this movie, no Veronica Taylor (I'm more a Sarah Natochenny guy anyway but she does sound good in this, almost fooled me it was Taylor.).
What does annoy me however is it sounds like 95% of the music will be replaced like the Kalos movies, which is a darn shame as the Japanese score had some great remixes not just of Kanto but from all gens of the anime from what I heard. But nope, not worth the licensing in The Pokemon Company's eyes.
Oh well, guess I'm importing the Japanese Blu Ray this Xmas then....
I'll be going for Kanto and Hoenn personally (I have a copy of Sun, and a copy of Moon)
It seems odd that they only let people in the US get one of the Pikachus while Japan got to get one of each of them for their events a while back :/
"Do you know the story of how Ash and Pikachu met?"
And not a single Pokémon-fan said "no" that day. Still, it's great to see the team let loose and do whatever they really want for the first time since the third instead of some movie they created for the sole reason of introducing a mythical Pokémon everyone already knew about.
@Tsurii
Problem is, you have to go through half an hour of nattering before you get to your first Pokemon Centre
Only one hat per player? Wow, talk about Pokémon Bureaucracy at work again!
Yes, I will always use the term "Pokémon Bureaucracy" whenever I see its dirty hands on something that can avoid treating each promotional Pokémon as the Holy Grail itself. The more The Pokémon Company does this, the more sympathy I will show for cheaters. I know it's rude, and I don't care.
@AlexSora89 What's worse, Japan players could get every of these Pikachus
@TossedLlama
Cue Zerg Rush.
@KTT
I would be mad, but honestly at this point the favoritism doesn't even faze me any more.
