The most recent Media Create results from Japan have a quirky circumstance this week - the software top 20 doesn't have a single new entry. As a result it's established games duking it out, which has suited some 3DS titles rather nicely.
Intriguingly, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS has reclaimed top spot, and seems to be all set for one million retail sales in Japan. Pokémon Sun and Moon also passed the three million mark by Media Create's count, while Miitopia is still in the top five. All told there are thirteen 3DS games in the top 20, with Minecraft: Wii U Edition in 11th place.

A solid week from Nintendo's point of view, and it's clear that the significant 3DS audience in Japan has embraced the portable version of Super Mario Maker; it'll be interesting to see how Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World performs soon.

HA! Xbox One Fail
Wow
Huh ?!
Even can surpass Pokemon Sun / Moon.
Hahaha... looks like Miitopia has more fans than FFXV. Sorry , SquareEnix but Miitopia sells better than FF XV in Japan right now.
Go, New 3DS XL !!
Eat PS4 Up, Spit PS4 Out ! (Eat you up - Angie Gold)
Every week these Mario Maker 3DS numbers ticks me off because its so close to the Wii U numbers
@Anti-Matter only a 500 units difference between Miitopia and FFXV lol
@Anti-Matter for someone who always harp about family values in video games you sure are petty.
@Anti-Matter
Different story when you look at the total sales though. FFXV has sold way more than mittomo with a 1 week headstart
awesome, I hope that MM doing well means maybe Nintendo will consider updating it with the missing features from the Wii U version.
Xbox could pretty much just leave Japan, even with all the marketing Microsoft had done it doesn't seem like the Japanese are into their product.
It looks like Super Mario Maker 3DS will hit 1,000,000 units by the end of the month and, after devistating week 1 sales, Miitopia soars back and looks to hit 150,000 sales next week.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
I want Miitopia so Bad !
Delighted for Miitopia, after it's sluggish start! Good stuff Nintendo
@Anti-Matter I don't understand. So you dont have miitopia but you say it's the best game in the world. Explain
Happy to see Mario Maker doing well. Despite its shortcomings, it doesn't deserve the hate. As it stands, it's a very good game even without Online integration. I even imagine it's quite fun in Japan where you can actually StreetPass people!
@UK-Nintendo
Miitopia isn't the best, but capturing my attention. Watched from Youtube about more Miitopia gameplay, I found many surprising things inside. Kinda LOL, quirky and awesome at the same time.
Once again, Miitopia isn't the best of all but quite strong enough captivating me by its quirkiness.
@Moon @Moon I concur, Mario Maker for 3ds is a lot of fun and gets so much undue hate.
Japan, you will always have the best mentality when it comes to gaming interests and preferences.
