There are cards for any occasion, as we hand over colourful folded pieces of card for Birthdays, Holidays, Get Well Soon messages and more. Nintendo of America seems to think 'New Year Cards' are also a thing, though the messages of positivity for the year ahead are a nice touch.
They're another little extra that's popped up on Play Nintendo, the official site for young gamers and - to an extent - their parents. The execution is a little clumsy as they are downloaded as a zip file - not the most intuitive means of delivery.
You can see them below, anyway. For this writer it's all about Harvey, the hippy dog from Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
In any case, it's a cute idea, and the site has all sorts of New Year bits and bobs for youngsters to look at.

Ooh...
I like that Baby Mario & Yoshi.
Harvey sure looks so Hippie in 60's outfits.
Nabbing the Harv and the Mario Maker ones! Happy New Year everyone!
Kind of sad to see some art talent wasted because Nintendo is so old school with technology. My kids love Nintendo, but are easily distracted when other franchises do such a better job at marketing and keeping up with the times.
So sweet. It's the random but very cute things like this that make me love Nintendo so much
I like waluigi one.
Well, I quite like Haarv's mug.
Play Nintendo has a lot of fun content for younger gamers. I wish it existed when I was a kid.
Where are the Kirby, Zelda, and Pokemon cards?!
No Donkey Kong? bah
Daisy Kart for Switch launch confirmed
Nice to see some not often used characters, like Waluigi and Daisy. I especially like the Waluigi one... love the detail on his gloves!
