I'm enjoying it a lot more than I did XY/ORAS. Might even actually bother to finish this one.

I think it's great the games are getting the recognition they deserve, but personally, I feel like the games took 2 steps forward but 2 steps back. On par with ORAS in my opinion (although I haven't played the Sun/Moon postgame yet, so who knows? )

Imagine what Stars would do for the Switch...

I honestly hope Stars add a post-game facility like the Battle Frontier or more postgame areas.

The game needs postgame comparable to B2W2 to be even better.

I'm liking it more than X & Y, though I miss the customization options from Kalos. I'm more of a jeans and coat person than so much tank tops and shorts.

These are by far my favorite Pokemon games now. Before it was G/S/C and HG/SS.

And I still need to pick it up, so there's at least one more sale out there. Work has been insane and I"m trying to finish other long games up first.

I'm enjoying the game. It certainly drags on in the beginning (playing through the tutorial). But overall I'm enjoying the game more than Omega Ruby.

I'd say these sales were hard-earned. Game Freak and Nintendo finally did promotion right (those stylish trailers, and the smart pre-release launch of Pokémon GO) and backed it up with a very solid game that refreshes the series without making it unrecognizable.

They definitely hooked me; this is the first Pokémon game I bought since Blue and it hasn't let me down.

If Nintendo employs this strategy for the Switch, I think we'll see a very different outcome compared to the Wii U.

Sun/Moon have been more than a critical hit; they're a OHKO!

Another sale can be added to that total once I pick up Pokemon Sun.

Worldwide, the game's old over 7 million compies and counting. Buy the end of the calendar year, I'd expect these games to pass 10 million compiled and possibly even outsell ORAS.

It'll be interesting to see if these games outsell XY.

Well, great! Because this is the best Pokemon since gen II. Good story, well written characters, AWESOME new Pokemon! Seriously, in every generation I pick a couple of new pokemon and go back to the old ones, this time except for Raichu (which is a new form), every pokemon in my team is a new mon, and a very well designed one!

I'd be curious what the total is both digital and physical. I bought Moon retail and Sun on the eShop.

I have to admit, the Pokémon GO lead up into Sun/Moon far surpassed my expectations. Kudos to the S&M (still can't get over that...) Dev team, and congratulations to the business planners who hit the jackpot on their gamble! (Still nowhere near the impact of the over 100 million Pokémon Go downloads and counting, though...)

That said, right now I'm much more excited for the upcoming rebirth of Pokémon Prism, the Pokémon Crystal ROMhack by World of Rijon! It's due to be finished in December. They already did a great job with the Pokémon Anniversary Crystal ROMhack, so I'm looking forward to it! (And yes, I do own the physical Crystal version.) Even with S&M, the series is still too formulaic and predictable, so fan games have caught my interest much moreso these days.

So.....I guess Pokémon Go did it's job then

Just finished the story a couple days ago. Great game!! Much better than Gen 6.

Sun and Moon are stellar games. Also, Nintendo actually marketed the games.

At least the 3DS is going out with a bang!

I have to say, Pokemon Sun was one of my favorite games in the series. I'd say it is definitely in my top 3, maybe in even higher. The only thing that bothered me about the game is the shallow post game... I was really hoping for a battle frontier or a return to Kanto.

Would really love it if Switch could this kind of momentum. Even if Pokemon Start came.next fall it could lead to massive sales of.Switch. Pokemon is coming to Switch without question, the only question is when it does.

Makes you wonder what the sales figures would have looked like for that mini NES had it been as readily available to the customers as these games were. 🤔

I'm liking all of the improvements a lot, but overall don't like the feel as much as XY. I still think it is a good game and appreciate that they needed to switch things up. I think they did a great job.

I'm waiting to buy it once I know what Pokemon is coming to Switch, but it's good to see how well it is doing

S&M takes several steps backwards inexplicably. Doesn't make sense that all these things were not rectified or improved upon.

Sun/Moon was a really fun game, not my favorite Pokemon game, but its up there. A massive improvement from the lackluster Pokemon X/Y.

@JHDK - Yokai shot itself in the foot by not having an endearing mascot like Pikachu. Their characters are ugly and unappealing, so it will never gain as much popularity as Pokemon.

I think the popularity of Pokémon GO has a lot to do with it. Even sales of the sixth generation spiked.

If we're going with the steps metaphor here, I'd say SM is about 5 steps forward, 2 steps back.

Clearly, Pokemon Go has hurt Pokemon on 3DS and nobody cares about dedicated handheld gaming anymore...as some people in the Nintendo Switch related-articles have led me to believe lol...

But in all seriousness, Sun/Moon sales are incredible. It's the fastest selling exclusive game ever in North America. Pokemon Stars will be a killer success on the Switch, albeit not nearly as successful as Sun/Moon.

Just beat Moon yesterday. These might very well be the best Pokemon games. It has so many QoL changes to the formula. Those sales are well deserved

@Octane Okay, fair point! I'm still hoping Nintendo will at least borrow this promotional style in the future. Just having TV spots no longer works, but promoting in a range of media clearly does help if the game itself is good.

(And, I mean, we'll see at least one Pokémon game on the NS, so this is all good news)

I love Sun & Moon & think they took 3 steps forward & only one step back. A lot of complaints are based on things Gamefreak couldn't help due to the technical limitations of the 3DS (like losing PSS).

As for the story, they subverted a LOT of the formula & did a lot of fourth wall breaking that I didn't expect all the way through... a couple of times I almost spat my metaphorical coffee at the screen.

Yes, there is a good chunk of the old formula in there, but if they abandoned it altogether we'd be seeing MORE complaints. But the way the formula was USED was a lot smarter. Seems a lot of people brushed over this, possibly locked into their mindset already.

Well I alone bought 2 physical copies each of Sun & Moon (for my kids & I) and bought Moon for myself on the eShop. We all love playing the game.

I'm getting one for my daughter for Christmas and after a fiasco with Gamestop regarding the Dual Pack I'm only going to get one of them. Which one is better, Sun or Moon?

All I've got for you is pretty much the typical answer. It really depends on what exclusive pokemon you like. Further though, Sun's day and night coincides with real-time, and Moon is reversed. It's day in one, and night in the other. Really, those are pretty much the only differences.
