One of the pleasing progressions in this generation of hardware has been Nintendo's increasingly open and supportive stance towards indie developers, particularly those producing rather high quality efforts that earn the term 'Nindie'. There are always improvements to be made, but we've seen the big N support Humble Bundles, put Nindie games in Nintendo Directs and front and centre at E3, and generally preach the good word about download games.
Nintendo of America continued doing that, for its part, at PAX West last week; part of that was the Nindies@Night event in Seattle's impressive EMP Museum. There's now a rather nice official video that shows off the event and a number of games, particularly those in this month's 'Summer Jam' promotion.
Check it out below.
We're currently working through our own interviews and so on from PAX West; if you haven't seen it yet, we had a nice chat with Dragon Quest VII producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto, which is live now.

They'd better stand behind Nindies and put them front and center. They're currently the only thing being released on Wii U...
So much for the rumor of NX reveal today.
i just waiting for hive jump so far but from the one's shown shantae, journey of the west which i hope is multiplayer.
"increasingly open and supportive stance towards indie developers"
Its more like catching up what they others started a long time ago ..
Shantae looks amazing. As does Jotun and Severed. I knew nothing about Gurumin 3D and now I am really stoked to see more about it after watching the short clips . Looks like a cool game .
Looks great. World to the West and Gurumin are on my radar.
I'm still waiting for two of last year's Nindies@Night games, Kerbal Space Program and Action Henk. I guess they got quietly cancelled.
"Content" is such a grim, corporate description. Please stop. World To The West looks cute though!
Gurumin looks really cool.
@argh4430 they are still listed on Nintendos site.
@faint so is RIVE, and we're pretty sure it isn't hitting Wii U.
@Bigskyorbust Jotun is fantastic. Also hard. Actually I find it really, really hard, but you have to account for the whiskey, so it might just be normal hard.
@argh4430 the difference is the developers of rive have said it may not be coming yet haven't cancelled it while the other to developers still talk positively about it. Make a Twitter and follow them. You will learn more that way then from this site.
@PanurgeJr
Lol .. That you do my friend. I am definitely getting Jotun. Are there actually Norse voice overs in the game ? Looks so so cool. I hope it is challenging .. The trailers certainly make it look like it is .
It's pretty much all Wii U has left.
@Bigskyorbust The voice over is almost certainly Icelandic, which is close enough for me.
Really wish Nintendo would get back to being on top of everything instead of playing catch up. A lot of these games, like many "nindies" have been out for months on most platforms already. They need to start procuring more exclusives and getting multiplat indies to arrive at the same time on their systems.
Honestly, the only thing they got right during that night event was the Beer Garden! All the games were hogged and no employees to regulate when it was a newcomer's turn to try a demo, so this one guy sat on a demo for probably an hour and a half until a ruckus started. Microsoft however knew how to run their Indie event, Nintendo should take notes from the Xbox Event's success.
@faint yeah, I don't do Twitter, but thanks for reassuring me about the other games. I was afraid for the worst.
