Play Nintendo, the Nintendo of America promotional channel setup to grab the interest of young gamers and their parents, has published its latest quirky video - this time it's advertising Kirby: Planet Robobot.
It adopts a 'quirky scientist' vibe, with a father and son doing their best Albert Einstein impersonations when talking about the transformations in the game. It has a relatively funny twist, too, and is the latest effort under the Play Nintendo banner to inject more humour and creativity into NoA's videos.
It seems like a pretty good effort considering the target audience - check it out and let us know what you think.

Gives a Beakmen's world feeling....which I love.
Seems a little long for a commercial.
It's a bit too goofy, but at least it sets up the ending really well, which is my favorite part.
The kid looks like reggie's son!
i fell asleep while watching it
@MasterWario I don't think it's an actual commercial, or the type you see on TV. Just something silly posted on Play Nintendo.
Whatever company they hired to do this must have gotten it's start making those videos you watch before going on an amusement park ride. Close up camera 4th wall breaking - which is why it does NOT seem like a tv commercial, tv commercials don't break the 4th wall unless they are infomercials, assistant in the background interrupting, it's just long enough for the prior group to get off the ride before you get on. Having things go awry at the end so you feel nervous before getting on the ride. This is text book.
I'm sure most people will hate it, but it was really well done.
Great Scott!.. that was horrible!
...I want my time baaaack...
The article image on the main page vaguely reminds me of Geri (the toy repair guy) from Toy Story 2 because of the magnifying lenses on his glasses.
Its nice, but way too long.
I thought it was informative and even mildly amusing.
This reminds me of the ads from 90s.
Specifically Sega's, and of course Nintendo's of that time.
Aw, this is rather silly but charming. Reminds me of the kind of shows I used to watch as a child. ^_^ Any way to encourage people to play my new favourite Kirby game is fine by me.
I like the set up, but feel it could've been a little shorter. I was entertained none the less.
They're playing the final boss music during the video, even the melody that can identify and spoil the boss itself.
That's a really weird choice.
It's so ridiculous that it works. I love it!
That is old school 80's/90's silliness there. Pretty funny.
it's really racist.
The ending was cool. But with the sound effects it reminds me of Doctor Sigmund Fruticake!
Meh. Iv seen worse for sure, but it doesn't strike me as a hype builder, which any advert must function as at its core. This was more like a slightly awkward presentation.
Keep trying Nintendo- at least it isn't as bad as;
"crying like an anime fan on prom night."
@manu0 Hey, it's Buzz Killington!
I believe there's a term for moments like this, narm charm. On a minor note, was I the only who wished they actually had made the robobot prop
