A little over a month ago, WayForward issued an update regarding the impending release of Shantae: Risky's Revenge – Director's Cut for Wii U. A re-release of the popular DSiWare title, Shantae: Risky's Revenge – Director's Cut aims to recreate the original in HD with some helpful new additions, like a warp system. It seems that the game successfully made it through the submissions process, as it's been given a release date for Europe, with North America to soon follow.
WayForward recently announced on Twitter that Shantae: Risky's Revenge – Director's Cut will release on 24th March in Europe for the Wii U. Though no date was given for the release in North America, it hopefully won't be too far behind, and we can expect to hear more information in the near future. Here's the tweet:
What do you think? Will you be picking this up? What would you like to see in the next Shantae game? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Great. I've been waiting for it since I didn't want to play Pirate's Curse before I've finished the previous entries.
What's the difference?
@PtM Same, still waiting. We never even got the original in Australia due to out dubious rating system.
Great news! Really thought they'd canned it as it had been so long since the other versions came out.
@DekersHekers
Are we getting this one in Australia? We seem to get shafted on a lot of releases over here.
@OneArmedGiant I don't know. I only hope.
I've bought the original Risky's Revenge but I haven't got round to playing it yet. I managed to complete the Gameboy Color version of the first Shantae recently, so I'll probably just play the old DSIWare version of Risky's Revenge.
Played this on PC. Pretty good game. Glad the updated version is finally coming nintendoside.
I bought Pirates Curse on a whim and enjoyed it as much as any game I've played inthe last 10 yrs. This will be a day 1 purchase for me, just need to find the time to play it now.
I'll wait the 3DS version as well so I can have all them there including the GBC version.
@DekersHekers @OneArmedGiant
Yes we are getting Risky's Revenge DC in Australia:

@Splatburst Is this even coming to 3DS anymore? WayForward hasn't mentioned it for a long time...
@MitchVogel
I'm not so sure. I thought it was announced back then?
I'll be jumping on this. Love a bit of Shantae, and on the bigger screen too along with Pirate's Curse? Nice.
@Splatburst I believe it was announced initially, but all of the latest updates have only referred to the Wii U edition. Maybe it'll be much later this year.
@shaneoh AW HELL YEAH! Finally. I know its not as good as the other ones, but I want to have all three just to say I have.
@shaneoh
That's good to hear. I'll definately be getting it. Thanks for the link.
So where's the Wii U game they've randomly stopped talking about?
They've been working on that for ages. They have like a full team. And it's a 2D game. What's going on?
Awesome. I can't wait to replay the DSi classic again on Wii-U. I finished Pirates Curse but never got around to finishing the DSi game...
I think this game is the best in the series. If you haven't got this awesome, superb, and totally amazing game. I ask this question. What are you waiting for? Get this game now.
@MitchVogel Since the 3DS does not do HD, I'm guessing it's a little extra work if it is coming as I'm sure the Wii U version did not require much work to simply port over. That and they could be adding 3D to the 3DS version too.
Was thinking about getting out my DSi to play this again but think I may end up double dipping for this one.
Will it be discounted if we already own the original?
I love the DSi original (pretty much my favourite 2D game) and am looking forward to the new Warp system. Presumably you can now choose which one you are sent to? Should help me complete it in less than two hours, which I found difficult before.
Hopefully Magic Mode is still in it? The Director's Cut always used to be advertised with the Dancer's Outfit (gold bikini), but advertising for the Wii U version has only ever shown her original outfit.
I've been meaning to get Shantae:R'sR, but since this might come to 3ds, I'll wait.
