Nintendo has confirmed via Facebook and Twitter that the series one Animal Crossing amiibo Cards Collectors Album will be making its way across to Australia and New Zealand very soon.
Since the launch of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer on the 3DS, amiibo cards have been quite the hit. The folder is currently listed on the EB Games website with a place holder price of AU$39.95, and can store all of series one including four additional cards.
Tell us in the comments if you’ve been collecting the first set of the Animal Crossing amiibo cards and keep an eye out for the local release date of the collectors album in the near future.

Geez, how many cards are there? Is that 9 tabs x 18 cards per tab = 162 - minus 4 extra = 158? Giving the old Pokes a run for their money, huh?
Bought a few packs so far, a folder would be nice to have, I'm keeping them in a zip-lock bag at the moment.
@rjejr
To be honest I wouldn't mind if these doubled up into a tabletop card game (like the aforementioned Pokemon) because at least then they'd have an extended use. I can see the rock, paper, scissors on various cards but I wish there would be more depth, heck even Animal Crossing Top Trumps would be something!
@rjejr so far there're 4 series of 100 cards announced, so there should be 400 unique cards
@Jimtaro Well if they work in a new Wii U main line AC game that could be an extended use. Do they even work in AC:aF? Does anybody know for sure? Seems like there is always so much speculation w/ Nintendo.
@SanderEvers I've always thought there should be about 50 Pokemon amiibo, 18 starters, 14 legendary mascots, and 18 or so of the more popular ones. Maybe a Mega evolution line too. Skylanders has been doing about 64 per year for the past 4 years so 50 seemed managable and sellable. And they already sell the cards, just put chips in those in a separate amiibo range, but keep them useable in the playable decks, no reason to come up w/ something new. Well just the Pokemon not the energy and helper cards. Not competitive play as they are bound to look different from the back, and feel different w/ the chip, but kids at home should be able to use them.
@KomrathDE 400 cards, seriously? I thought there were only like 5 actually important characters in that game, KK Slider, a mayor, a couple of others. Even 100 caught me off guard. Now that AC:aF board game makes even less sense.
Really hoping I'll be able to get this in NA sometime. This would be great to keep all the cards and doubles as a checklist.
I would be happy to get this in NA, as I have about 64 of the cards just sitting in a pile on my bookshelf.
would be real nice to have for when i begin collecting the cards
Not to take away from sales, but due to getting tired of waiting here in the US, I went old school and just bought a binder and some of those card holder pages (you can usually find them at a comic book store, or the trading card section of your local Target/Walmart). It's not as fancy as the official thing, but it definitely gets the job done.
That said, I'd definitely get the official album if ever released in the US. I heard that you can obtain one if you run into a Nintendo rep, but those albums are 2×2 as opposed to 3x3 everywhere else.
I was able to pre order two of these from Amazon UK for delivery to America for about 40 US dollars total (I think it was 28 or 29 GBP). I'll probably pre order a couple more from Australia if I can find them. They are sure to sell out.
