While Pokémon fans in Europe have had the opportunity to pick up Hoopa for Pokémon X & Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, some other territories have had to wait a little longer. The good news for 'mon fans in the US is that the powerful pocket monster now has confirmed distribution details for the country.
As reported by Serebii, Hoopa will be distributed in McDonald's branches in the US between 27th November and 23rd December, so you'll need to grab your game copies and 3DS and head out for some fast food. It provides a useful excuse, anyway.
Beyond that the first episode of the Pokémon XY & Z anime has now aired in Japan, and some uploads of the rather dramatic opening sequence have popped up on the web. You can cast your eyeballs over this below.
So, will you be scoffing a Big Mac while picking up Hoopa, or doing a stealth visit to McDonald's? Let us know.

Does McDonalds sell onion rings?
Because puns.
Huh. Well, I'll be having a Big Mac with a side of Free Legendary Pokemon please.
Team Flare finally appearing in the Anime. Nice!
Wait, McDonald's? That's odd.
McDonald's? Huh. Usually it's at Gamestop or Toys R Us.
Good thing I have a McDonalds right near where I work. I just have to remember this.
Really this part of the anime will look very Dramatic, I saw when I aired the 2 episodes (Mega Evolution IV and the first XY & Z), and well, I will not give spoilers, but I did feel a very tough change (and if you remember the story in the game, then ... )
@DarthNocturnal
Meloetta Event is still a blow to my heart..., but anyway, I have Meloetta, XD and a adventage is that Hoopa is avalible for trading in the GTS..
Oh right, the distribution has to end a few days before I go on vacation to the US.
Still totally don't understand the Greninja + Ash fusion thing. It shows them overlay with each other, and then Greninja has a new appearance, but Ash is still present giving commands. Whats going on? XD
will McDonalds start selling Pikachu toys and fries?
@LexKitteh A feature for the inevitable "Z" version or Z Sequels Nintendo/Game Freak wanna keep quiet for now.
It might be something to do with how the anime's been performing lately in Japan. While I don't know about the TV Show's, this year's movie did not perform that great at the box office, earning lower then last year and even last year's was down a lot from the movie before that.
What I do know is B2W2 launched like a month before movie 15 which did very well, so it might be this "Z" game is being held back to the summer to help out the already confirmed movie 19 and do just as well as 15 did (And not to mention the franchise is celebrating 20 years in it's homeland, so there'll no doubt be anniversary promotions and merch to help to anime along too...
I just want Pokemon Z already. Get a move on, Nintendo!
But what about the Netherlands? :S
Sounds like a lot of Hoopa to me.
What about Canada?
@DarthNocturnal
Well why not? I'm not ashamed of my hobby, but it's a little embarrassing for a grown man to walk into McDonalds by himself and ask for a Pokemon card. Especially since I don't dare eat from that place. Gamestop is one thing, because it gets people to walk into a store that sells Nintendo products, but what is Nintendo getting out of people to go to McDonalds? There aren't any Happy Meal toy promotions for its IPs right now. Is McDonald paying for this or something?
Aw, no love for México? Come on GameFreak/TPC!
IT GOT SO MUH MORE ANIME THAN I EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!!! XD
@LexKitteh Maybe some kind of spiritual fusion?
Anyways, everyone seems to be getting the events but what about some European countries? :C
Really? McDonald's? They don't even have any food this Celiac girl can eat. Except possibly a salad I suppose. Oh well, I guess I can just go for the Pokemon like a weirdo and not eat anything.
Screw McDonalds...
hmmm well thats more than enough reason for my son and I to share a 20 pc chicken nugget w/ sweet and sour sauce...ok ok maybe we wouldve gone to McDonalds regardless
@TheLobster That Calvin and Hobbes avatar is almost as awesome a being a part of club G.R.O.S.S. LOL!
Seriously, McDonald's? At least there's one near my work.
It will be a ninja visit for me. Pretend to be waiting on someone...get hoopa and leave! XD
I hate McD's... But I guess I'll have no choice if I want a Hoopa...
@TheLobster So you made me Google celiac, and that sucks. I'd recommend the big cup of ice for $1, sometimes they put tea in it. Then you can sit there and sip. I also like the mocha latte.
I'd complain about this being McDonald's only, but it's been so bad lately I'll settle for - well at least it's something, and hopefully McDs is paying Nintendo for the foot traffic.
If you could download the episode while you were there that would be nice, could happen, still 4 weeks from tomorrow. I'll be driving back home fromT-day dinner so maybe stop there for lunch. Or coffee.
Nice, it's good to see the US finally getting Hoopa. At least McDonalds can't be any more awkward than when I got it at GAME. When I asked for my code at GAME, the sales assistant went off into the back room for several minutes. Eventually he came back and asked how Hoopa is spelt. At that point a more helpful sales assistant pointed out that there was a bit of paper somewhere, and they eventually found the paper and was able to give me the code.
Well I go to McDonald's more than I like to admit (My grandmother loves their muffins)
So this id easier that going to gamestop.
I'd choose McDonalds over Gamestop any day. And the XY&Z series looks very interesting, can't wait for the English sub.
@LexKitteh Maybe the Kalos starters will be able to Mega Evolve now, like the Hoenn starters in ORAS? That's the only thing I can think of.
Wait... so bonnie now carries around zygarde core for the rest of the animation (which turns into 10%) and team flare has control over zygarde 50%?
This is actually pretty epic where this is going.. I'm more excited about the fact that one of the cast members will actually keep a legendary they find.
@WanderingPB LOL thanks!
@rjejr That is a good point at least I could get something to drink. Mocha sounds nice as by then there will be flakes flying no doubt!
@TheLobster Don't worry. I'll do the same thing. McDonald's is bile in this country...
Also, does Ash still have a bunch of babies for Pokémon like he did in the ones that were tied to Diamond and Pearl? I know it's an anime but still, it's REEEEEEALLY stretching the boundaries of what a maxed out Pikachu can do...
best part is knowing James will be dressed up as Nurse Joy
@Knuckles best McDs order ever!
@TheLobster you could always go with someone to take the meal for you and then grab something to eat after?
Whoa... Greninja's scene makes me question the series... Is death being introduced? I mean, Greninja just walks away and turns into water and Ash starts crying. Is the series aiming for an older demographic?
I guess I'll be getting a big Mac and some McNuggets to go with my Hoopa!
@JesWood13: Agreed. More like Mickey $h!ts, lol. After hearing about the burger somebody left out for several weeks without it decomposing, and that their meat has plastics in it; I've never gone back. But I will be going just to get my Pokemon freebies;)
Thank God its Mcdonalds. There is no best buy or toys r us where I live! The US is so huge and so little BBs and TRU
Ok, I'm just going to say it. What is the point in including a mystery gift option that allows you to download special Pokemon if it never gets used.
Let me put this another way, why should I have to haul my 2DS to a Mcdonalds, deal with a clerk who can barely take my order for food on a good day, and have people look at me funny as I ask for a Pokemon code.
Nintendo, why can I not just download this in the comfort of my own home? Why do I have to jump through hoops to go download a Pokemon?
So did they explain what greninja's new form is? Is it just some dumb reason to have him be able to take on Mega's without actually having to give him a Mega?
The opening is nice, I guess. Remind me of the third Japanese opening.
They shoulda made a deal with Burger King. Get a Hoopa with a Whoppa.
Freaking Mcdonalds? That's the worst fast "food" place...Ewww...
Hopefully we can just grab it with the wifi signal(or whatever it's called) by just going into the Mcdonalds. I don't want to have to buy a burger or stand in line in order to get a code. If I stand in line, I would buy some food even if the code is free because anxiety would make me too embarrassed to go in for just that. Then that would be a waste because Mcdonalds is gross and I don't want to eat it...
Crimzonlogic, I would hope that's the case.
Caryslan, I agree with you entirely!
@Caryslan
I think this just goes to show that Nintendo thinks that just because it works for Japan it'll work for everybody else. For some reason they don't seem to get that unlike Japan, most people in the world don't necessarily live down the road from these places.
McDonald's is HUGE in Japan, which might be why they chose it. On the bright side, they didn't say this requires a code. I can't imagine McDonald's would want to deal with them either.
@WaddleDeeWeegee
It seems to me that Ash is upset over not being able to stand up to the mega Pokemon trainers, and Greninja is ashamed he failed. Hiding in water is a classic ninja trick, so I take he 'melts' into it and mega evolves due to Ash's tear unlocking the ability.
Ninjas are also supposed to be masters of disguise, so his mega might allow Greninja to copy his trainer's appearance, not just Ash's.
To quote, "woh woh woh yeah".
hopefully mcdonald's in canada gets this too
Let's see, I'll have a Big Mac with extra legendaries. Hold the cheese.
I'd like to see Ash and Sawyer face against Alan, that would be fun to watch.
@Retro_on_theGo Pokemon as always gave one of the best explainations for this!
"It's an extremely rare occurence when a pokemon bonds with it's trainer, it happens once every hundred years."
Makes enough sense to me....
wait what...?
@Crimzonlogic Yeah, you don't have to buy anything. Your 3DS should be able to automatically connect to their wi-fi, even from their parking lot, if you are in front of the building.
I need to start watching the anime that looked excellent.
Asking for anyone in the US for an extra code... if it's distributed that way, please and thank you
McDonalds is pulling out all the tricks because of 7 straight quarterly declines in America. People are much wiser to the extremely low-quality and hazardous ingredients McDonalds puts in their food. This is why McDonalds just opened up their breakfast menu all day. Desperate times, desperate measures.

@MegaBeedrill They had Meloetta hanging out with them for a while a couple years back.
@onery
Remind me in a month to grab one for you, but I'm not totally certain the codes aren't region-locked.
The Happy Meal will include one of eight Pokémon figures from the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire video games: Pikachu, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Lugia, Rayquaza, Mega Latios, Wobbuffet, and the newly discovered Mythical Pokémon Hoopa. In addition to the toy, plus one of 12 Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) cards, fans in the United States will also be able to receive the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa for their Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire video games by bringing their game and Nintendo 3DS family system to participating McDonald’s locations and connecting to Nintendo Zone.
From the announcement today.
You should also get something to eat

@DekuOnion
Doesn't surprise me one bit, people are much more health conscious than they used to be. Enough so that popular name-brands are wising up.
Pokemon has always done McDonald's promotions though, so I doubt that's why they're doing it. Remember the Pokemon toys from back in the day, or the gold-plated cards? Those were also done to coincide with movies.
Wow.
Wow, there's a lot of complaining about McDonald's food here! While I agree they have low quality burgers (albeit priced accordingly), they do have good chicken (as McNuggets, Selects, or a variety of sandwiches), fries, apple slices, and ice cream, oh and a great frozen strawberry lemonade during the summer.
@onery its not by code. Its by Internet
@BlackFire so it's an internet distribution? is it still on?
@onery yes until December 23rd
sees complete forme Zygarde in the XY&Z opening.
@TheGoddesseshero cool it on the language. (Jazzer)
@BlackFire lol slightly misleading, but thank you for the heads up. Now am the proud owner of two Hoopas :3
