At the end of April Nintendo of America announced its Splatoon Mess Fest, a live event at Santa Monica Pier - California - to promote the upcoming Wii U shooter.
It was standard PR event fair, pulling in celebrities and the public to have some messy fun on a goo-filled assault course. Celebrities included Disney's Joey Bragg and James Marsden, who was in Anchorman 2 and is also known as "that guy that played Cyclops in the X-Men movies".
The usual batch of PR shots were sent out recently, and with the addition of a Nintendo Minute vlog we figured we'd share events with you. It's a tad bizarre, but everyone seemed to have a jolly time.

Sadly, not buying this game. Never will now. After seeing the price hike for this game, I also noticed the bundle is $329.99, amiibo last month went to $15.99 and it looks like new game releases are going to be $69.99 from now on. There is not going to be a whole lot I will be buying for Nintendo now and if the NX is the same way, I probably won't be getting an NX. The Wii U might be my last Nintendo system.
Looked like fun. Looking forward to the game itself. I wish they did some cool events in or near WV some time.
@ikki5 you are low on budget? You don't like Nintendo anymore? Sorry really can't get your point.
It looks like American Gladiator with ink. It feels like this could be a big one for Ninty. I hope so. Launching a new IP is great. I hope they do more of these to keep it rolling. As for me, I already preloaded the full version and preordered all the amiibo. The inkling girl is adorable.
@FlaWiio It is not that I am low on budget, it is the fact that they raise the prices 7% - 10% and I don't make 7%-10% more. If I had to pay $70 for all my Wii U games, then I would have spent an extra $85 on top of the already spend $1,105 (before taxes, add taxes and it is $1,270, add the $85 and tax and it is $1,377) and that is just the retail games, does not include my digital purchases, Amiibo, accessories or the system itself. What makes it even more so, I am already paying more than any American due to sales taxes, it cost $75 to already buy a game at 64.99, for a $70, we are already looking at over $80 and most people don't get paid much more than they did 2 years ago and here we are again with the Wii U almost at launch price again? That's the problem.
@ikki5 Dude. Seriously?
Is this game $50? Why are they advertising $50 eShop cards?
Glad to know Cory from the Treehouse was there. Cory in the House.
"let me get these tentacles out of my face."
@ikki5 your obviously from Canada, cause of our horrible dollar at the moment, those where the prices to begin with. The 3 pack is $40, just on case you where wondering cause you forgot to mention it.
Sorry to say, but don't blame Nintendo for the high prices just cause our dollar currently sucks lol and besides the other consoles games are at $69, some at $75 so the price is right in line with the rest of things
@hydeks What will interesting to see is that will these gaming companies REDUCE the price once our dollar gets back in par with USD?
I'm really glad, that I preordered the 3 amiibo-bundle for 45€ already ^^
I will have to fix my network connection though ....
@ikki5 Blaame the Canadian CB for intentionally weakening your currency.
Last time I checked, USDCAD was at 1.20 rather than at 1.05 a year ago.
That means that a US Dollar is now 15 cents more expensive in terms of Canadian Dollars.
I wish they did this with Mortal Kombat. Spreading blood everywhere with tools shaped like the playable characters would be a sight to behold.
@hydeks yes, especially when a lot of other places have it worse, and with worse I mean a game being the equivalent of 100$ USD, and minimum wage being 0.5USD the hour, working 10 hours per day, 365 days a year [making a total off less than 2k, and that is before paying electricity, water, food, tax, etc]
@TheWPCTraveler And yet Nintendo is the only one to make these changes, great. Yeah, what a great idea Nintendo, Now for someone in Canada if they were going to buy a console, what to buy the console at $330 or the Xbox for only $20 more which has more games, more games coming to it, more support and a future. Hmm... Nintendo will do great to make sales in Canada.
@ikki5 You don't have to buy the amiibo. I am getting Splatoon without it and I feel just fine.
@garthvader Amiibo is not the only thing to increase in price.
@ikki5 Nintendo is the only one to make these changes? Dude you gotta do more research before posting something like that.
@ikki5 What increased the price, the only think I saw was Day one free DLC. For me it is 59.99$ same price as any new game.
@Hy8ogen I did, so far only Nintendo has increase on their latest systems.
Reminds me of a Double Dare type stunt. Good to see nintendo is actively trying to generate buzz.
@garthvader Maybe you should read the post, I am not talking about USA.
Sorry man missed that part because I was responding to your first post. They should drop the price of their console to 250. I see it on sale online often for 260-270 range. I think at this point that will help them sell. As far as the currency problems, there really isn't much they can do there except give the country a discount...
@ikki5 The very first company to do this was Sony. They increase the price of the PS4 by 50 dollars mere months after it was launched. Not only that, Sony also increase 5 dollars on EVERY accessories available for the PS4 (Controllers, Camera etc). Furthermore, the games on both PS4 and Xbone were already 70 dollars per piece since early 2014.
Also FYI, with the current currency exchange rate, gaming goods in Canada are slightly cheaper than USA.
@Hy8ogen before taxes yes, barely. After taxes, no
@ikki5 You do know that these taxes goes to the government and not the people who sold the games right?
@Hy8ogen I know but a lot of people go on about how we get to buy these cheaper and blah blah blah when in reality, we don't. Spending $80 is spending $80 regardless where it goes and with Nintendo doing this now, they are almost no longer the cheapest console to buy which is a reason why they and many others say "buy Nintendo". Now we are left with the choice, buy the console which has more games, more games coming to it, more support and a future or Nintendo for basically the same price. It surprises me that you support paying more for your stuff. Companies love people like you.
@ikki5 I never once said people should buy the cheaper console. People should buy the console they want for the games. I live by this rule, which is why I will always have a Nintendo console as primary simply because they offer the experience that cannot be found on anywhere else.
Which is why I have both the PS4 and Wii U
Nickelodeon Guts
I hope that at the end of the day someone got to go home with a glowing piece of the radical rock!
Okay... Well, it is kind of an effective way to advertise....I guess?
KRYSTA
@Josaku
3 Amiibo bundle?
@ikki5 Wow, I know that the Canadian CB, which isn't controlled by the government directly, is at fault for import prices generally raised. However, this is just Nintendo shooting itself in the foot.
QE4 is right around the corner, should the US economy somehow slip into a deflationary L-shaped recession, which is why I do not think that this is a good call for any company to make.
When QE4 occurs, sponsored by the Fed, you can guarantee that we are back where we were eight and a half decades ago.
Looked like a lot of fun,wish i could of went
@Whopper744 Nintendo USED to do events in Pittsburgh and Columbus, but hasn't since the 1990s.
@ikki5 games are still cheaper than they were back in the day adjusted for inflation.
@TheWPCTraveler - Its late, Im drunk, and I dont understand any of that, but Im glad somebody is paying attention.
@rjejr Ha.
@Hy8ogen honestly...I think some people just love to hear themselves complain...haha. Splatoon on!
@Grafeaux Yeah, great. I'd love to see you when price increases by 7%-10% for well... anything that you actively buy.
I don't get why this event was considered "bizzare." It appeared to be no different than Warrior Dash or Tough Mudder. In fact it is more apropos due to the game they are PRing. I'm sure the kids had a blast, parents were exposed to the family friendly nature of Splatoon, and Nintendo had some community interactions. Why is that bizzare? Oh...and I want me a squid pin and Splatoon Tshirt!!!! Jealous of those kiddos (haha), but very glad they had and took the opportunity.
@ikki5 It sucks. It really does because I buy gaming goods constantly. I have 5 platforms and it's really tough for me as prices are going up. Can't really blame the publishers, blame the federal government
@Josaku
Where could you preorder the 3pack from Germany/EU?
@ikki5 My point exactly...thanks for demonstrating it.
@rjejr Gah, I retyped my comment earlier, but I lost it all when I accidentally backed out.
Anyway, the Canadian central bank is pursuing a loose monetary policy.
What does that entail? It generally means that you have lower interest rates, and more money injected into the system.
Now, how does that devalue the Canadian Dollar?
More money: Make more of something, relative to demand, and it will fall in value. If the government suddenly declared that your money is now worth twice its face value, does it mean that you are suddenly twice as rich? For a while, that may be true, but prices and the exchange rate will adjust to this quickly.
Lower interest rates: It makes more sense to be borrowing from a place that has lower interest rates, no? If I live somewhere with, say, a 10% interest rate, and Canada has one that is roughly 0%, I'd decide to borrow from Canada and use the proceeds to buy the currency of my country.
Both factors contribute to the depreciation of a currency.
As for my QE comment, the US economy is primed to go into a recession, so the Fed will delay its "lift-off," perhaps into eternity, and launch QE4. QE is just another name for flooding the markets with cash.
It's so interesting to read that someone's never gonna buy Nintendo again. Then don't.
Next!
@ikki5 I guess you live in brazil or something, because in sweden Wii U games are under 50 dollars
Complaining about prices now? oh god. Here in Germany Splatoon costs 40 €, while Witcher 3 on PS4/XOne costs 70 €. I could almost buy Splatoon twice for one copy of Witcher 3. But of course Nintendo is the one with the increased gaming prices on their system ...
Has anyone thought how amazingly fun Splatoon would be in real life? This made me think about that.
Oh yay, North Americans complaining about game prices. Great. So here's a cool story, here in Australia game prices have always been ridiculous. In around 2006-ish when it was at it's worst I remember paying $90AU for Twilight Princess. It wasn't the cheapest price but it was hard to come by in the first few months after the Wii's launch. So that was the price I paid and it was around the usual sort of price. I remember Gameboy games easily getting upto $60AU in the mid 90s.
Looking up the prices now, Splatoon is going to be $60AU at some places. Most other Wii U titles can be found for around $70AU, some places are charging $80AU. Compare that not only to what we used to have to pay but also to other platforms. On the PS4 some games are pushing upto $110AU. So I don't understand Canadians complaining about games being $70CAD. I mean really. Just because you guys are used to games being $50.....
Amiibo are $15.99? Over here, the MSRP is £19.99 ($31 USD/$37 CAD). Prices for games vary, from £39 ($61 USD/$73 CAD) to £59 ($92 USD/$111 CAD - granted, most games are now £39). I paid about £300 ($471 USD/$566 CAD) for my Wii U.
@ikki5 There has been no price hike in Ireland in fact Nintendo games are the only ones that aren't over 60 eruo. My Amiibo/splatoon bundle are 59.99. My dying light for ps4 was 60 euro second hand and 74.99 new.
@Inkling Yeah, the UK are worst off in terms of Nintendo prices for the most part. It shows too with the bad sales of Nintendo products, for the same price as a 32GB Wii U and Splatoon you could get a 500GB Xbox One and Halo Master Chief Collection (even more if you consider that Splatoon's extra content could mean you need an external HDD).
@outburst
I was asking him that as well.
He probably means the Game+Squid bundle, that's 45€ over here.
Maybe I should cross the boarder into Canada to buy Splatoon.....looks like I could save $5 over what I'd pay in the US.
@Grumblevolcano @Inkling
I've been keeping an eye on Amazon UK. Amiibos are still 10£-13£ directly from Amazon. If you guys keep buyin them for 15£ from other retailers then they'll just increase it again like ShopTo charging 19.85£ now.
@BlueBlurIxM
I got the squid bundle for 39.99€ from Amazon Spain. Plus 5€ shipping to Italy so that's 45€. Still better than 51€ from my local GameStop. If you're buying from Amazon Europe, I recommend buying from Amazon Spain and France since they cost 5-10€ less than SRP. Wave 1 amiibos went for as low as 9.90€ from Spain. I got wave 2 from France for as low as 10.85€ each (69.60€ for all 6 including shipping). I got the N3DS for 157€ too.
@BLPs It's not once a month though for Nintendo, more like once a quarter with a large bonus in fall.
@outburst
Usually I'm dealing with my local retailer. They usually lower the price to the lowest price you can find on the internet(so they tell anyway). They probably are orientating them self at EU Amazon. At last I've got the feeling.
@Hy8ogen
You can blame the publishers for not making the prices lower than the US when the Canadian dollar was stronger.
@Grumblevolcano Wait what? For the same price as a 32 GB Wii U Splatoon Bundle, you can get a 500GB Xbox One and Halo Master Chief Collection? In the UK?
Erm, I live in the UK, and this is simply not true. Where the heck did you even hear that? Because I just checked on several major UK retail sites (GAME, Argos, Toys R Us ect) that sell both bundles and in fact, nothing Wii U related goes over £250. Yet everything and anything to do with Xbox One goes upwards of £300. Sometimes even hitting the £400-500 price range.
Please don't go spreading something like that around as if it's fact when it's clearly not.I knew something was off when I read your comment but...

Xbox One + Master Chief Collection - £250 (import from amazon germany)

Thats not even the cheapest its been - Xbox One prices and Wii U prices are pretty much in the same ball park - don;t know what you are talking about saying Xbox One is £400 :/ You can get it for £310 + 4 major titles (Halo / Sunset / Forza / Evolve) so think its you who needs to stop spouting rubbish
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msuk/en_GB/pdp/productID.316664600?tduid=4723c2f86019f0a5ac6c8cabdaa7d7e1&tduid=9e1450d1b5a666145b7152b814107534
@the_snowman It seems you need to reread my post again before accusing anyone of spouting rubbish, as I've done my research AND backed up MY point with clear evidence relevant to the conversation. You basically did nothing but back up what I said and ignore it simultaneously...
For one; I was RESPONDING to grumblevolcano's earlier post, who said that UK (not Amazon frikkin Germany) prices in regards to Wii U and Xbox One were about the same with specific bundles. Which isn't true. One of the sites I linked in my post shows those very bundles they spoke of are not even close to the same price range. They're not even £30 apart. And just so you know, it has NOTHING to do with IMPORTS from OTHER countries. Good for you showing you can find great prices in other countries, but you missed the point entirely. Understand? Don't waste my time.
Second: Did you even bother to check the sites I mentioned? No? Let me help you out:http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3813902.htm
Here's what I said in my earlier post: "Yet everything and anything to do with Xbox One goes UPWARDS of £300. SOMETIMES even hitting the £400-500 price range." Understand what this means? It means that you can find Xbox console bundles at a MINIMUM of £300 (which is what you clearly presented evidence for) and the highest being between £400 and £500. Which means some of the highest Xbox One bundles (whatever they might include) can be found in that range. That wasn't really aimed at grumblevolcano in particular, but I was making my own point there of why Xbox One and Wii U prices shouldn't even be compared.
Is that clear enough for you? Or do you need some professional help? Because I know a guy.
@Rhydas I forgot to mention in my post that it was my expectation come E3, I expect Nintendo will keep their prices high while Microsoft do another aggressive price drop.
Thanks for the Microsoft store deal by the way @the_snowman, I've been looking for a really good Xbox One deal since Rock Band 4's confirmation of existence in March and this looks perfect.
@Grumblevolcano Ah okay. I'll keep my eyes peeled for that then. I'm actually pretty curious to see if that'll be the case or not.
@Grumblevolcano
No problem, don't forget to go via Quidco - you can get 6% cashback so thats another £20 saved:)
And in reply to Rhydas I'm not sure what you are trying to prove and I'm not really bothered as at least I've helped someone out finding them a good deal - you're basic point was "everything and anything to do with Xbox One goes upwards of £300" which is way off point and helps no one. You can get an Xbox One + game regularly for £250 and big bundles for £300 odd. If you are paying £400-500 as you suggested you are presumably hopping in your time machine back to launch week........
@ikki5 In Australia, we pay about $70 to $100 for Xbox One and PS4 games and $50 to $80 for Wii U games.
@ikki5
well dude, here in Brazil we pay 250 reais for a new release(thats 85 dollars) and for the wii u alone we pay 1800 reais(600 dollars). Even the ps4 is 4000 reais(1300 dollars).
And also recently Nintendo left Brazil so ww have to buy from the gray market.Heck, they didn't even bother giving us a Brazilian eshop!
@the_snowman No, my basic point was that Wii U and Xbox One bundle prices aren't comparable at all in the UK. That's it.
As for paying £400-£500, just click the link I presented for you. It clearly shows at least an Xbox One bundle in that price range. This wasn't a suggestion.
I wasn't telling anyone to go out and buy consoles at low-low prices. Or even to go buy overpriced bundles. Heck, I wasn't trying to help or hinder anyone on whatever their choice.
Ugh... Why'd you bother to get involved when you didn't even understand what was being stated... Don't do that in future.
@Rhydas
I perfectly understood your point but as it was wrong and misleading I stepped in to correct you. Prices are comparable - Xbox One being slightly more expensive than the Wii U - there certainly isn't this exorbitent £100-200 difference as you are trying to point out.
Wii U 32gb bundles are generally £200-250 whereas Xbox One bundles are £250-300. That a simple fact and I'll happily provide some realistic examples if you'd like - but I'm just happy to help out and assist in people finding good deals like for @Grumblevolcano
Also your posting in a public forum so if I feel the need to reply I'll do so - please don;t try and tell me when and under what cicumstances I can comment
@TheWPCTraveler - Oh, I understand it all sober, just not riding home after midnight drunk on the Long Island Rail Road standing up trying to maintain my balance b/c there aren't any seats while finger typing on my 7" tablet being jostled by all the drunk Met fans. QE Infinity.
http://www.sovereignman.com/offshore-banking-2/federal-reserve-balance-sheet-explodes-to-within-0-5-of-all-time-high-in-just-one-week-16940/
@the_snowman
Good lord... I never tried to point out there was a £100-£200 difference between the two. I didn't even mention that once.
And fine. I'll admit what I said about not posting until you understand what's being said was going a bit far. However for your own sake (and everyone involved), you'll save yourself a lot of trouble if you either ignore the conversation entirely and go about your business or bother to actually look at/read what's being presented first (including all evidence provided) before arrogantly stating something is rubbish - when it's clearly been shown to be fact.
Take that advice or leave it - I really don't care.
@ikki5 if a game cost $200 dollars, would it still be worth it? Quite possibly! How many hours of entertainment are you allowed to have with said game? As many as you like. People have no problem paying $40+ to see an hour and a half movie that might suck. The value in video games is there and I'm surprised they aren't more expensive.
@Rhydas
As I said I read what you wrote - looked at the awful examples and crazy statements you made e.g not being available for under £300 anywhere / upwards of £400/500) and proved it to be factually inaccurate. There are bundles everywhere for sub £300 - every bundle on amazon is sub £300. If you don't want someone to step in and correct you then don't post a load of rubbish. Simple
Besides, If I'd have ignored your conversation as you suggest I should have then @Grumblevolcano would have never found the Xbox One bundle I pointed out - don't be so selfish. Whats more important, you winning some online debate or actually stepping in and helping out another member here? you're making yourself look incredibly petty
@rjejr Clearly, everything is awesome!™
I just wish some of that hot money could gone somewhere other than San Francisco.
@skywake
Agreed. I was in Harvey Norman Shop today, I'm in Perth, Australia.
They had Pokemon Black in the bargain bin for, wait for it... $75!!!
@ikki5 actually the normal wii u bundle with super mario 3d world is still $300 and is actually on sale at ebgames for $279 so it's not increased, the splatoon bundle is just stupidly $30 more. And so far the only company not to inflate prices here was xbox, they kept their console the same price as the US' s, the mkst ridiculous price jump was from sony with the ps4, it went from $399 to $450. And also, most Nintendo games have stayed around the US price, like captain toad and kirby, while other systems games have jumped to $70-$80 range. Again, don't complain about our Canadian dollar, it just sounds like your sick of Nintendo, which I don't get at all because when it comes to the best exclusives and most AAA games, Nintendo is the best. Sure the other companies get more games, but usually when you buy them you play it through once, feel let down by the hype, and end up trading the game in fast
@Fandabidozi yes, exactly!! Lol now that's a horrible price to complain about lol Australian people may complain and we would understand.
@ikki5 Have you ever thought to game on a budget? Look you dont need to buy these things brand new. Aren't there second hand shops? I live in a small city in Michigan, I have a Gamestop, Local game store, audio store that sells used games from nes to now. Plus the usual Walmart, Meijer, Target. Which all have clearance bins. Now is the time to start being savvy with your money. Look for deals, ads and anything that'll give you more bang for your buck. Is there the Best Buy gamers club in Canada? If so sign up for it. What about the Rewards program at Gamestop? Do your local stores have any coupons? I mean sure its not your fault that the CAD is low, but if you like video games you just have to be a savvy shopper
@the_snowman
for brazillians games cost much more than $60
A Canadian ranting about his exchange rate issues... yes, that's the way to get the ball rolling. Although I am skeptical that this game should come out at "full price" (whatever that may be for you), I have to give it a go. I've wanted Nintendo to make a competitive shooter for going on ten years. So far the product seems extremely creative if not a bit slim, but as I'll be buying the game digitally instead of retail (a departure for me, but appropriate for this style of game where a lot of the value is from online play, anyhow), I'm more accepting of promises of DLC down the road. As for the event, yes, it's very Nickelodeon, for sure. Most of the "events" they cook up are, I assume because research tells them that's their key audience. But hey, we did get Bayonetta 2 + Playboy.
@BlueBlurIxM @outburst
I was reffering to a "special-offer" at the "Sparks-Gaming"-store (An somewhat independent game-store) near me, they sold the Amiibo-Bundle (Game + green squid amiibo) and you got the other 2 (squidgilr/squidboy) too if you were a longtime customer at this very store.
I go there for nearly everything I buy in terms of games, so the shopkeeper kinda knew, that I wanted all 3 items ^^"
I went to this event, it was really fun! Kinda funny they got Disney on this versus Nickelodeon but I guess they don't really do slime anymore huh? (I have no cable anymore so I wouldn't know). Got to play Splatoon 3 more times (technically 6 because you got to play 2 rounds each play session) and headed home once high school kids started getting out of school lol. The staff in the tents were really fun & helpful to first time players and those who just so happened to line up to play!
My only qualm was that I wish they would have set up more tents with Wii Us as most who just wanted to visit the pier that day would be deterred by the long line just to play a video game they never heard of
@Josaku
I wouldn't say no if I could get 2 Amiibos for free. But are you sure you'll get everything for 45€? That doesn't look very plausible. Your retailer wouldn't do much profit. If any..
And by the way...
You could have said this in the first place. The 3 Amiibo bundle is a completely different thing.
@hYdeks Yes, the old bundle is on sale for $279.99, then we have the new splatoon bundle for $329.99. However here is what I am going to guess is happening. They are trying to get rid of the old stock and then once those are gone, you'll see the consoles at $329.99 because really, this doesn't make sense. Why is the splatoon bundle $30 more than what the other one was when the game is $5 more? That makes no sense so therefore you must conclude that $329.99 is going to be the new norm for consoles. Yeah, almost back to launch price.
As for getting sick of Nintendo, yeah, it is getting there. Their medieval policies and arrogant attitudes, trying to play mom and dad and shelter us from the"bad" is just getting on my nerves. Really, yeah, their AAA games are great, but the amount of games they get is abysmal, it is game drought after drought after drought even after they said these won't happen again. Their support is just dying and they seem to not care. They leave us with horrible policies such as region locking in an open world where people can access everywhere across the globe. We are restricted with digital purchases with an account that isn't a true account as we cannot use it anywhere except for on the single console and if we delete it off that console, it's gone forever, everything tied to it is gone and the name still cannot even be reused. We are restricted to be able to talk to friends who have moved away to other parts of the world. S yeah, Nintendo is getting on my nerves. The Wii U could have been a great system but because Nintendo is have been stupid this whole generation, it's dying, soon to be dead console. A miserable failure to the gaming industry. If they keep this up for when the NX releases, then I'm gone, I'll join the other 90%+ that dropped from the Wii to the Wii U and I'll take my several thousand dollars worth of cash to another system (yeah, it would not be good to lose a customer like me and that is just my Wii U, not my 3DS as well which adds even more). I'll go to a company that actually cares... or at least acts like they care. I am tired of being treated like a child. I started with Nintendo was back with the NES, I've grown up, Nintendo hasn't.
/rant
@Pierson A Budget is not the problem, it's the fact that they just raise the price of stuff from 7-10%. Think of how you would feel if you all of the sudden had to pay that much more for something you actively purchase when there is no change in your own personal economics. Even more so that the console is almost back to launch price being two and a half years old. You can get an Xbox One for just another $20 which has a much brighter future. What makes it even worse is when the Canadian Dollar goes back up (or US Dollar falls), I highly doubt these prices will drop because we are already paying them. The reason why I can doubt this is because back when our dollar was on par, companies in the US never dropped their prices in Canada because we were still paying them and they made even more money that way. So basically if a game or something increases, that is the price we are going to be stuck paying regardless of what the exchange rate does most likely.
I think the prices for everything goes up over time. I live in Canada and it's no problem paying "more" for things. Either buy it and don't complain about the price, or don't buy it and don't complain about the price.
How does a Splatoon Event Article end up making the comment section talk about Economics is beyond me.
I wish that I could have gone to this event, looks like everyone there had a fun time.
@ikki5 Yes, games are cheaper in the US compared to Canada, but if you think it's really bad where you live, try moving to Austrailia or Brazil.
Can Canadians please stop whining about the prices of games?
Brazilians, Australians and us in Mexico have it WAY WORSE.
Games in the US go for $60 USD
In Mexico, we used to pay $1000 MXN for each game. $1000 MXN= $67 USD
But since splatoon, all games from now on, including pre orders from future games.
Will cost us $1200 MXN= $80 USD
MEANWHILE the minimum wage per DAY in Mexico is $60 MXN= $4 mere USD
So... you see... we have it alot worse than you do.
@BlueBlurIxM
Sorry for my wording in the first post ..... I'm not that well versed in the english language and noticed too late that it could be misunderstood easaly .... ^^"
On the topic of the "bundle", I got the receipt because I paid it as I pre-ordered it and it says that the bundle comes with these 2 other amiibos seperatly .... I don't think, that they are making any profit off of it, but it was a special offer for long time customers and seems to be limited to 20 items, because I got "Pack 12/20" ....
I will wait and see how this turns out, but the receipt is rather specific about all of this ^^"
@skywake That sucks. No one should have to spend that much; not Australia, Canada, or any one!
But just to clarify, It's not NA gamers complaining about higher prices, it's a Canadian gamer complaining about prices. He has every right to complain though. The point is that what he's used to paying for a game and/or system is now going up. I would be angry/disappointed too. Now is it Nintendo's fault or his government? I have no clue....
This will be my last comment on the subject of "high" game prices in Canada. I don't think it's Canadians who complain about high game prices, just a few more outspoken ones. Games used to cost up to $100 CDN, then dropped to around $50/60. Now they are going for 60/70 for Wii U games. A measly ten dollars increase after years of low prices. The cost of food goes up. The cost of clothes goes up. Housing prices go up. Why can't the cost of video games go up?
Here in Chile, I pay $39.990 chilean pesos for a "full price" game. Games are imported from United States.
1 American Dolar = 599 chilean pesos
Do the math.
I know that the conversation will probably just go back to finance, but I just wanted to say that I think this "mess fest" looks like a bunch of fun and I hope I can get to modify some water blasters and try this with friends and family.
I think that this was a really good idea.
If this was a thing at a Nintendo theme park me and my boys would be all over it. But we wanna spray some ink around.
Also, that weird Splatoon song seems to draw a ton of inspiration from Rayman Legends. Like a boss battle
