So, LEGO Dimensions, this is a game that know what it's got and isn't afraid to flaunt it. Aiming to sell LEGO toys and a new game to adults with disposable income? Simple, get Christopher Lloyd to revive his legendary Doc Brown role - and we mean legendary - for a commercial. Check and mate.
The latest commercial is celebrating the inclusion of Back to the Future as a franchise, and is the very definition of fan service.
Beyond that it's been confirmed that at any one time you "can bring up to seven characters, vehicles and weapons" into the game, with no limits on combinations. So Batman could drive the DeLorean; just process that for a moment.
More level packs, team packs and fun packs have also been announced that will no doubt cost a huge amount to collect.
Level Packs (also includes a themed gameplay level)
Back to the Future: Marty McFly, Hoverboard, DeLorean
Doctor Who: Twelfth Doctor, TARDIS, K9
The Simpsons: Homer, Sedan Car, TV Set
Portal: Chell, Companion Cube, Turret
Team Packs
Lego Ninjago: Kai, Cole, Blade Bike, Boulder Bomber
Jurassic World: Owen Grady, Blue, ACU, Gyropshere
Scooby Doo: Scooby, Shaggy, Mystery Machine, Super Shaggy Sandwich
Fun Packs
Ninjago: Zane Fun Pack (Zane, Ninjacopter), Nya Fun Pack (Nya, Samurai Mech), Jay Fun Pack (Jay, Stormfighter)
The Lego Movie: Emmet Fun Pack (Emmet, Emmet's Excavator), Unikitty Fun Pack (Unikitty, Cloud Cuckoo Car), Benny Fun Pack (Benny, Benny's Spaceship), Bad Cop Fun Pack (Bad Cop, Police Car)
Lord of the Rings: Legolas Fun Pack (Legolas, Arrow Launcher), Gollum Fun Pack (Gollum, Shelob the Great), Gimli Fun Pack (Gimli, Axe Chariot)
DC Comics: Wonder Woman Fun Pack (Wonder Woman, Invisible Jet), Cyborg Fun Pack (Cyborg, Cyber-Guard)
The Wizard of Oz: Wicked Witch Fun Pack (Wicked Witch, Winged Monkey)
Lego Chima: Laval Fun Pack (Laval, Laval's Speedor), Cragger Fun Pack (Cragger, Cragger's Speedor), Eris Fun Pack (Eris, Eris' Speedor)
The Simpsons: Bart Simpson Fun Pack (Bart, Bart's Soapbox Racer), Krusty the Clown Fun Pack (Krusty the Clown, Krusty's Bike)

Great Scott!
So much star power coming into lego dimensions.
"Marty! Why are we so blocky!?"
Wow. He's really getting old...
Great Scott, Christopher Lloyd is still alive!
The return of Doc after 25 years!
"That can`t be I just sent you back to the future!!"
Doc Brown, The one and only Doc Brown, in the same game as the DOCTOR.
Let THAT sink into your minds.
It's 2015. We need to go back, back to the past. Back to 1985. I don't feel the need to go back to another Lego game. I got bored with the Lego games all basically playing the same.
Nice! Great to see him reprise the role even if it was only briefly.
Christopher Lloyd is LEGEND.
Wow I love that man. Should have seen his little skit with Samuel L Jackson running from Godzilla for the MTV awards about a decade ago. One of the most hilarious skits I've ever seen in my life.
@Jumpman
Jiggawatts
I just realised Lego dimensions releases the day before the end of Club Nintendo.
I WAS FROZEN TODAY!
@DarthNocturnal Either? There are three!
Christopher Lloyd is just milking this as much as possible because Michael J. Fox is unable to.
Seriously I can't get enough of his acting. It does not feel bad and is too believable. Sometimes I wish he was an real scientist. Speaking of which "Bill Nyne"( the science guy ) was on TV explaining what happen to Katrina. I could not laugh so hard when they had Bill bring out the old board from PBS explaining why the flood occur.
I love Christopher Lloyd and obviously his role as Doc Brown was one of the greatest characters in cinema. Dang you Lego for playing on my weakness for Back to the Future!
Awesome trailer! I just wish there'd been far less game footage and far more Christopher Lloyd!
Do 2 Thomas Whitehead's work here? I can't believe the guy who wrote this fun fluffy article wrote that editorial a few hours ago.
Whoever he is, he had me at "weapons".
Right before Doc Brown said - "I don't belong here, it could disrupt the space time conunum" - I had turned to my son and said - "this is the end of the universe". What isn't in this game? He was very excited to see the "new" Ninjago. How he knew it was Ninjago and new in that 2 seconds on screen I don't know, but their marketing team is doing a very good job. Scary good.
It's funny, the vid is basically a mishmash of divergent franchises - Ninjago, LotR, Back to the Future, Batman, Lego Movie, Harry Potter, Wizard of OZ, wait what flying monkey what the? - and it looks like so much fun. Disney Infinity has been pushing the same mash-up concept for the 3rd year now, and it never looks this fun to me. Maybe it's my Lego fetish?
I really don't know how they can tie this all together into 1 game. Skyalnders is 1 very linear story and Disney Infinity is a few 2 hours stories and a toy box. This looks more like...Subspace Emmissary!! amiibo need a Subspace Emmissary game.
He's in the future for real, guys!
I'm not gonna lie: I want this game now. Especially since you can have Doc Brown fight Daleks (I'm assuming the Daleks will show up because of Doctor Who.) and the Doctor drive the Delorean. This is awesome.
Oh shat! He came from the fut- er I mean past!
Yikes think of it! A 'Pair-o-Docs' ! The delorean looks authentic. Maybe the doctors can trade vehicles. Lego everything!
@Captain_Gonru - Isn't 2 the one w/ the old west and the train? Or is that 3? I was never a big fan of any of those movies. Not saying they're bad, comedy just wasn't my thing back then. Well unless Bill Murray was in it, he's a mad genius. Or Gene Wilder, that guy could make anything funny. OK, maybe I liked comedy, but a different kind of comedy?
I purchased two Funko Pop vinyls recently that were both characters played by Christopher Lloyd - Doc Brown (BTTF) and the other being Judge Doom (Who Framed Roger Rabbit). So many toys and figures are around now, some people might be able to open a toy store soon!
Ok, I've gotta admit... This actually made me pretty excited to even consider buying Lego Dimensions.
I have no intentions to buy this game, just because it's not something that really interests me (and expensive!), but as a a BTTF fan that trailer is amazing. Well done Lego
Oh my God.... This is my favorite THING of 2015. Just bravo!
This is causing some serious internal dilemma, collecting Amiibo has become costly enough and they do very little in game. This looks set to be a really good, diverse experience with some of my most beloved franchises.....I mean Dr Who is just the icing on the blocky cake. Will definitely be taking the plunge on this one.
Oh if only Nintendo did a lego game.
Great Scott!
Great, now I'll find myself actually paying the bucks for this game. At first I was thinking about getting it, now, adding one of my favorite movie franchises, I'm sold. Something tells me that they will be adding so many play sets to this game, that store shelves will be too filled to even put them all in...which means we can see Gamestop pushing the Wii U games back further...with Vita almost hidden, Wii, PS3 and 360 games getting ready to leave the store for good. This is going to cause a lot of clutter on store shelves, being next to Skylanders, Infinity and Amiibo's, so this will come as the testing point on which ones will stay...I see the next Skylanders and Infinity drifting in sales while Dimensions racks in the money.
The Judge Doom was his role in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Lego Flux wildly! You heard it here first.
@Captain_Gonru - "next season of Flash"
AAAHHHH no spoilers, I'm only up to episode 20, The Trap. I took 2 weeks off from tv viewing to play Last of Us. I read it was only a 12 hour game but it took me 30 hours.
Christopher Lloyd practically replicated his Doc Brown role in the "Piranha" remakes in 2010 and 2012. Awful movies, but he was humorous in a role that was so similar to Doc.
@Captain_Gonru - My wife told me about Supergirl and I immediately dismissed it. I have no idea what it will be like, but I assumed more like the later seasons of Smallville then the earlier ones. We had to stop watching that show when season 4 or 5 began and everybody seemed 5 years older and moved to Melrose Place. I blame Dawson's Creek for ruining all television.
Flash has really matured over the season. Can't exactly tell why but I was ready to stop watching after 4 or 5 episodes but the last few have been good. I think its gotten a lot darker, which I like. And Heat and Cold remind me of Buffy villains, which is a good thing. And Cisco's constant "frak" and other pop culture references, and the occasional 4th wall breaking - "remember when that happened on week 3" and "you come over every Tuesday night". It's like the writers and actors have finally figured out their comfort zone. They were trying way to hard at the beginning not to be Arrow, now they've just become "not Arrow" w/o trying. I still like Arrow better though. Season 2 was a horrible mess but season 3 has been a nice rebound. Ra's al ghul is 100x better than Slade and John Barrowman will always be Capt Jack to me.
@Captain_Gonru - I actually have no idea what Legends of Tomorrow is. When I read it the fist time I think I read it as last years canceled show Tomorrow People. AKA the show they got all the actors from for Flash. But thanks for the warning, I'll avoid it now. Actually heard a radio commercial in the car for Flash season finale on Tuesday and I was all "no no no no no I'm not listening" in the car. First - Grood. Can't avoid everything on my Hulu Plus episode list.
Nice!
@rjejr Comedy? Really, COMEDY?! Is like dismissing Blade Runner as an action movie; some movies just can't be placed into genres, sorry.
Welp, if all minifigures can be recognized I guess it's time to wipe the dust off my Time Cruisers minifigures (yes, I still have the Navigator).
@rjejr Wow, really?! Most people (myself included) think Season 2 of "Arrow" (especially Slade) was great while Season 3 was a real mess with a real clunker of a season finale. On the other hand, both "Flash" and "Agents of SHIELD" nailed it this season including amazing season finales.
@YoshiTails Surprisingly, Christopher Lloyd is only 76 years old. The character of Doc Brown was quite a bit older that he actually was, as Lloyd was only 17 in November 1955 and 46 when he made the original movie.
Wallet... What are you doing? Wait... Wallet... STAHP!
@BulbasaurusRex - "a real clunker of a season finale"
Man that was close. I still have 4 episodes to go.
My wife and I discuss this all the time, and we think Arrow faltered in Season 2 b/c Tommy was the linchpin between everything - playboy Oliver, company involved Oliver vs Tommy the rich kid, Laurel, w/o Tommy there was no reason for anything. Even Thea sucked. And the miru kiru storyline - well my wife and I hate all things zombieish. And life on the barge was never as good as on the island, they replaced a villain in a cool mask w/ a super lame Dr. Just lame. And there were about 3 mid seasons episodes which were just awful - Suicide Squad, downtown bomber and 1 other. The League of Assassins is much better than miru kiru men, and Felicity is much better than Luarel as Olivers "no I can't". Even the excessive Flash x-over stuff has started to work in the 2nd half of the season.
Season 1 of Arrow was the best of all of them though, otherwise I woudln't be watching any of it.
