For fans of Bandai Namco and RPGs, the Tales Of - known by many simply as Tales - series likely stands up as a favourite; it all began with Tales of Phantasia on the Super Famicom in Japan, a title that would eventually grace a Nintendo system in the West through a Game Boy Advance re-release. As a series it's been prominent across Nintendo and Sony hardware, with re-make Tales of the Abyss being a relatively recent title for Nintendo fans on the 3DS.

Bandai Namco is now celebrating the 20th anniversary for the franchise, releasing a flashy new video to show the diverse history of the series to date.

Tales of Zestiria is coming to the PS3 in the West soon, with the most recent entries typically on Sony's systems. Nevertheless we like to be optimists, and Nintendo and Bandai Namco currently have a particularly strong working relationship, so we hope celebratory announcements will feature the big N's systems in some way. Bandai Namco is promising "massive surprises" in the coming months.

In the meantime Bandai Namco wants fans to share their memories and fan creations of the franchise by tweeting with the hashtag #IAmTalesOf, though the Twitter account name TalesofU is, unfortunately, just a coincidence; it's been around since April 2012. We can't win them all.

What do you hope to see from Bandai Namco to celebrate the Tales series this year?
