The creator of the upcoming Wii U eShop title, Trashmania Trilogy – including Trashmania, Trashmania: Remix, and Trashmania: After Dark – has revealed he is unsure of the game’s future.
Jonathan Bont, the indie developer previously best known for his efforts on the Ouya, delivered the news via his Twitter page, citing severe current issues in his personal life as the reason.

As reported in August last year, Trashmania Trilogy was set to include all of the mentioned games playable in their original and enhanced form. The Wii U versions of the games were going to feature updated graphics running in 1080p at 60fps, and added GamePad functionality – with the original versions supporting Off-TV play.
The title was planned for a release in both the US and Europe Q1 2015. Take a look at the Vine compilation video below, and let us know in the comments if you would like to see Trashmania Trilogy appear on the Wii U eShop in the near future.

The video left me speechless.
@gage_wolf The project is more than just a port; I'm pretty much making 3 new games. Combined with a 40 hour day job and said current personal issues (I'd prefer to stay silent on what that means publicly, but if you're concerned feel free to private message me on Twitter or something), progress has moved much slower than I'd like.
Also, I know guys, that trailer sucks >_<. It was from like 7 months ago and is for the OUYA version, not the Wii U one. I've been working with someone more knowledgeable with marketing to help me create a far better trailer.
@Animan13 - sorry for whatever issues you are facing. Good luck!
So… Slendytrash?
@Gerbwmu Thank you.
While I'm still here before all the "It's just Slender!" comments start rolling in, I figured I'd take a moment to address something: The last few articles from here, GoNintendo, and NintendoEnthusiast have made me realize I've been doing a very crappy job of making info about my games readily available, whether it be screenshots, videos, etc. What ya'll see in this article is outdated screenshots and info, not to mention there's plenty of far better-looking videos/screenshots out there to use, but... unless you follow me on Twitter religiously, I can't blame you for not knowing. I promise I will try to do better on this in the future!
I've been slaving away at developing this game since last August and, despite the obstacles, I keep going because I know this is game you will all enjoy!
That 4th post just makes the others entirely pointless. If it's cancelled tell us
@Mega719 it's not canceled, it's just the game's future is up in the air due to personal issues going on in my life. I didn't expect these particular tweets to make headlines.
@gage_wolf It just started as a simple compilation of easy ports, then I thought about some basic enhanced versions, then my ideas got more ambitious, and before I knew it- Bah, screw it, I could be getting work done on my game right now rather than arguing about it online.

@Animan13 i know, i didn't mean it was i'm just saying if you are going to deliver bad news that your project could be on hiatus for a period of time, you shouldn't then soon follow up with a statement that you could just be exaggerating the whole thing. It just makes these updates sound redundant
@gage_wolf Have a little respect, at least he possesses the skill to program a game. Now, what was that game you made that was ground-breaking and a standard for all future games to be judged by - oh, that's right. Nevermind.
(Really though, it doesn't hurt to be polite.)
@Animan13 Coming from a novelist, I know first hand what a pain in the ass marketing is. I should've hired an agent 😅
Anyway, whatever it is you're going through, just know that I'm rooting for you. Think positively, and don't give up on your dreams! You can do it!
@gage_wolf
You should learn how to express your opinions more respectfully; a chance to open some dialogue with a game developer is a nice privilege. I don't see what place comments like yours have in promoting a constructive exchange of opinions.
@Animan13 welp I hope things turn around for you. If your games hit the eshop I'll give them a shot.
@OptometristLime I think he was fine - he wasn't rude or anything - if the game was better the criticism wouldn't exist - and we all have the skills to make a game this bad - this is really really bad - and nobody should ever pay for this crap - how about that for rude? you don't have to make good art to criticize bad art by the way.
@gage_wolf
In the time it took you to write that you could have made a $.99 eshop game
@Animan13 Good luck, man! I hope you find the energy and strong will that you need to finish your work and overcome all these obstacles.
@gage_wolf please DM me on Twitter (@Animan13) so I can explain why I made those posts. I have been making games since I was 13. I would never make flaky posts such as those unless it was something major, which it is. I do not feel comfortable sharing it out in the open where it will never go away because it's the internet.
EDIT: It's a situation that has been an emotional, confusing, and stressful experience for me and my parents. It had nothing to do with game development, but could have ended up requiring all the time and money I had set aside for game development.
@Animan13
As a grown man who remembers being a teenager and doing/saying dumb things, my advice to you would be to just leave it alone and keep your mouth shut. There's no need to explain yourself and your personal issues to some anonymous person who is trashing you on an internet message board. Just keep it to yourself and move on.
@MasterBlaster fair enough. It's clear I'm not welcome here as a developer.
@Animan13
I didn't mean that as an insult or for you to leave, I just wanted to tell you it's not a good idea to share personal/sensitive information online with someone who doesn't know you, and who frankly, sounds like a jerk.
Stick around. Most people on this website seem to be nice and will treat you with respect and show interest in your games.
I sure hope he's gonna be fine, and for the games to arrive on eshop soon.
@MasterBlaster I gotcha. Since @gage_wolf had brought up some valid, well-researched points, I just felt the need to address them as best as possible. I am sorta upset by the quality of some of the games on the eShop lately. Whilst I feel I'm more than capable of delivering a great experience (ugh, I'm sick of that buzzword xD), I can understand how some people, burned out by those low quality games, will see my sorta-unpolished screenshots and brush off my own work as being no different.
Thanks to everyone else for the support! :3
@Animan13 Good luck man. You'll find people on here are very opinionated, but don't let that deter you from posting.
Nothing to worry or sad about it. no need for this anyway. Nuff said
@Animan13 the game looks fun is all i have to say
it's a shame if it does get canned
good luck man
@Animan13 Calm down, man. Nobody is scaring you away because you're a developer. You just gotta learn to speak at a less personal level. Nobody is going to really pay attention to your feelings if they're busy criticizing you. Trust me, I feel you. I'm a young developer, myself. Just do your thing, dude. Don't respond to anything you know is a lie, it's typically bait. And if it isn't? If they just don't give the game a chance because of the aesthetic? Maybe they don't deserve to play it in the first place. As a developer, that's the mindset I keep, and it helps a lot. As long as you are genuinely putting your all into it, trying to make the most unique experience you possibly can, and not just doing it to trend off a popular genre for quick cash? You're doing fine, and nobody needs to tell you that but yourself.
I'm personally intrigued by this. It looks unique. If it ever hit the eShop, I'd probably snag it. Good luck with your personal issues. I've been there, and it sucks when they stop you from doing what you love. You'll figure it out. And if this game never makes it to the eShop? I still can't wait to see what you make in the future.
Well, since the dev is in here actually, I went ahead and made an account to reply. Life comes first, take care of that. If you ever get to release, that'd be tight as I think it looks good.
Cheers.
@gage_wolf
You clearly do not understand anything about game design. That's fine, not every one understands how much work it takes, but a singe weekend? You can't even properly test most games in that time.
I do, however, strongly agree with your sentiment about indie devs working on the Wii U, though, with its lower power and numerous limitations (weak online structure, lack of profile-based user accounts, lack of harddrive, etc), wouldn't exactly call the Wii U "premium" in any regard. If the Wii U is premium, the PS4 is some kind of next level of existence.
@gage_wolf
Hyperbole is like sarcasm--the internet does not treat it well.
You're on a site where a guy here seriously claimed raping people was a part of GTA and Call of Duty. Look up Poe's Law--sufficiently clever satire becomes indistinguishable from real nonsense. So forgive me if I mistook your comment for true ignorance, as I have seen much, much worse from people here.
@Animan13
Hey man, good luck on your game. If you put in the proper dedication and the game is good, I'll give you the support. I feel your pain on the state of the eShop lately, and have three developers on there I flatly refuse to support--Rcmadiax, Treefall, and Ninja Pig--since they make it a point to flood the eShop with no-quality trite just to make a quick buck.
Rcmadiax further pissed me off with a comment complaining that people want "quality" in the games they play, and had the gall to essentially state (about the sub-standard crap these three devs were producing) "this is the new normal, deal with it."
I'm also an indie dev, but have not actively linked that to this profile. I wanted to vent here and talk Nintendo stuff, but did not want to cross my dev life with my gamer life--suffice to say, I did not want to become Phil Fish or Denis Dyack--or those other devs I've listed, who have given me more than enough reason to never buy anything from them ever again. I gave Rcmadiax the benefit of the doubt once, but he quickly showed his true face, so no more. I will not be a sucker to his charade.
@Animan13 I've been following your game for a while, and it looks quite interesting. I hope you can sort out whatever problems you're having right now, and hopefully we'll be able to play it in the future.
@gage_wolf Please, speak to me again when your little "tinkerings" become a reality. Then, maybe you'll have the right to criticize others who had the initiative and desire to work commercially on games.
