Aria of Sorrow Art

The Game Boy Advance enjoyed a terrific trilogy of 2D Castlevania titles — as did its successor, the DS — which set impressive standards for portable entries in the franchise. With GBA games on the Wii U, the prospect of playing them on the GamePad — or the TV if you like enormous pixels — must have come to the minds of Konami fans. North American gamers are in luck, of course, with Castlevania: Circle of the Moon kicking off the trilogy in the latest download update.

The second entry, Harmony of Dissonance, has previously been confirmed for 16th October, and the exciting news is that the concluding part in this trilogy — Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow — will arrive on the same day. That gives plenty of time to take on each game in turn ahead of Halloween.

Aria of Sorrow is regarded by some as the best entry on the Game Boy Advance, arguably expanding on and improving on the Metroidvania principles used in its predecessors. Whether it's the 'best' of the trilogy of not, owning all three on Wii U will surely be a must for Castlevania fans.

Will you be completing the trilogy next week in North America? Are you in a PAL territory and seething with a combination of rage and jealousy? Let us know.
