Mega Man creator Kenji Inafune is one of Capcom's most famous former employees, yet he appeared to part company with the publisher under a cloud.
You might assume this could make Inafune rather bitter about how his former creations are being used by Capcom, but you couldn't be further from the truth.
Speaking to VideoGamer, Inafune revealed that he is "ecstatic" about Mega Man's inclusion in the roster for the forthcoming Smash Bros. title for Wii U and 3DS.
He added that he was very much looking forward to "playing and beating" his kids with the iconic character when the game is finally released.
You're not the only one, Inafune. (Our kids, not his.)

I share his same sentiment. I look forward to conquering every fight with the Blue Bomber. EVERY FIGHT! (Potential online match-ups, beware. muahahahahaha)
You would hope it could reignite the Character like Smash did for Kid Icarus and to a lesser extent Pikmin.
I will troll as many fights as I can with the Wii Fit trainer
@MadAussieBloke haha I bet many will hate the Wii Fit Trainer just because she's the Wii Fit Trainer. Owning them = trolling successful.
The trainer has potential though, as a swift and acrobatic character.
I'm so glad Mega Man made it in Smash Bros. I've said a few times he should make it in as a third-party character since he deserves it most but I wasn't expecting it. I hope other new fighters will be just as surprising!
Inafune isn't the creator of Mega Man:

Mega Man s not his "former" creation, though...
@MonocledMetroid Akira Kitamura and Keiji Inafune created Mega Man, but Inafune did more work on him. (Design)
@MadAussieBloke I said the same thing when I first saw her on the trailer! HAHAHA
I think Nintendo just showed Capcom how Megaman can be brought back to life.
Gotta love that last line.
Is it just me or does Nintendo just know how to use game characters. I mean Sonic in Smash Bros. Brawl was exactly how an evolved 2D Sonic game should control and SEGA still hasn't nailed that feeling (Sonic 4 failed to get even close).
@FJOJR I agree with you, Sega can´t do a proper walking move for Sonic in its games (it walks worse than a duck, and it takes a lot to acelerate), while Nintendo does it in a game. Imagine if Nintendo does a Sonic game, it could be its revival.
I don't know, I think Sonic moves really well in Lost World.
Anyway, it's nice to see Inafune is happy. Here's hoping this pushes his popularity even further up.
Megaman X9 an exclusive only for Wii U imagine!
Inafune is Dr.Light, proud of his son to be his greatest creation to change everything and especially in a game like this. But the Blue Bomber isn't going to be the only 3rd party character, since Namco Bandai Games is in charge, this is just rumors, that Siegfried from Soulcalibur will be joining, Jin from Tekken and possibly PacMan.......holy s**t, Namco is going to overkill the 3rd party characters, this ain't good.
@Dhampir-Killer
Those are just rumors. It's already been said that Bamco characters have no priority whatsoever. Sakurai also said that he wants to keep 3rd party characters to the bare minimum. Personally I want them to limit the number to just Megaman, Snake, and Sonic since they're pretty much three of the most iconic non-Nintendo characters in gaming history. Though a 4th would probably be fine; most likely Pac-man to represent Bamco since he's also very iconic (though personally I'd hate to see Pac-man in a fighting game).
Setting a goal for myself: kick Mega Man's butt with every character except him in multiplayer.
It's pretty nice to see this guy make an appearance. Now, for a 3-way fight between him, Mario, and Sonic...
I am pretty pissed off at how bad capcom treats megaman as a character, they pretend he doesn't exist anymore since inafune left capcom after completing the masterpiece known as megaman 10 and since then, the character has been dead; however, I truly appreciate this gesture from capcom, this is the easily the best character from a third party that fits perfectly in the smash universe (yes, even much more than sonic did in brawl) and I'm kinda willing to forgive them if they continue to treat megaman like this.
Years back, I couldn't have cared less about Mega Man being in Super Smash Bros. When they started releasing them on 3DS, I tried them, and they really grew on me. Can't wait to hurl some metal blades (which along with Atomic Fire is my favorite MM weapon) in the new Smash Bros.!
Kenji inafane isn't the father of mega man. Akiro kinafora first created mega man, and kenji created Mega Man Zero.
I can see why he is proud: Megaman looks very sweet in this game!
@FOURSIDE_BOY You wanna know something really funny about that ? the reason why Megaman was not in Marvel vs Capcom 3 was because capcom said "he doesn't represent the Megaman series well" so that's why they went with Zero
