how does something like that happen after going a year and a half over schedule? i thought volume balance was the only problem, and after lowering the FX i've been using the old music with new graphics just fine that way. i hadn't noticed any missing instruments, but if the composer himself says so it must be the case. maybe it's just the new music, which would explain why it often falls a little flat.

seems like an update really is on the horizon. this doesn't look good for nicalis, but this shouldn't reflect on them too badly since the overall game is still excellent aside from the audio problems. it's just kind of funny that.... even after the game is released it's still not done! cynical people called it long ago, but i wouldn't listen, the fool i was....

by the way, for you 'huzzah' purists...
"The composer also noted the team might change Balrog’s “OH YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH” battle cry back to the “Huzzah” used in Aeon Genesis’s original translation."

maybe they could alternate between the two?

For me they could use the "Oh Yeaaah!" only in the first appearance, where it makes sense.
And yes the instrument problem it's only the new music. (It's Midi files with a Pixel's inspired instrument set.) the old it's still the original format that Pixel developed for the PC version.
However, some sound purists (again, no insult intended) noticed that the music loop in old music isn't the same as the PC version.
For me it's enough knowing that they will fix this in my release, but i hope that you from the other side of the globe receive the patch.

So what, they're going to fix it for Europe and not us?

It's hard to understand what he meant (See the link i posted), but i think that they will upload the correction at the same time they upload the PAL version, from what they said.

Darn, I have been playing this game on mute the whole time.

Interesting, Interesting. I never noticed any problems with the new music (I thought they were meant to sound the way they do) and I had my sound FX turned down to about half-volume the entire game, so I never noticed any problems there, either. I never touch the map system (one, because it's crap, and two, because I've never actually gotten lost in the game)

Don't fall for that one, generaly there are enough exceptions to that "rule" to render it a lie.

Yeah, this game is the most fun I've had with WiiWare since Mega Man 9. I don't have any real problems with the finished product and I don't feel chained down by expectations from the freeware version.

I can't believe the complaints people are making. Sounds levels don't work for you? Adjust them! Don't like the new music? Use the original!

The new translation was an odd choice to include in the game anyway - why fix something that isn't broken? - but I understand that the developers wanted to make it as true as possible to the original Japanese game and it got Pixel's blessing. Fair enough. If people are upset that they aren't getting the original dialog then they should be playing the Japanese version anyway.

The game isn't perfect and maybe there will be a patch to help address some of the minor issues... but I honestly think that most of the complaints are just silly people being oversensitive.

Has anybody managed to beat the Sanctuary yet? I haven't managed on the Wiiware version (I got to it late last night in my file and only tried twice), but my best time on the PC version is like 7:50, which is pretty slow. Some speedruns are beyond rediculous.

Also, is anybody else weirded out that the most secretive level in the game is a menu option right when you boot the game up? It doesn't have an option for Snake or Missles though, so I'll never use it. The only way I can get through the level is to use the snake and cower behind walls, blasting everything until they're all little yellow triangles

I'm probably going to do my Curly runthrough and get the Spur and see if I could take the Sanctuary using it.

^ I haven't, I've only made it to the midboss dude. I thought it was REALLY hard at first, but it's getting easier and easier. Oh, and this is my first time doing it, I never tried it in the PC version.

And a cool thing I found out is if you talk to the purple mimiga twice in one of the end game battles, she gives you hearts. I never knew that, really handy.

the sound problems aren't terrible, but they'll be there no matter what options you mess with. if you choose original music, the sound will still cut out every time you enter a new room and there will also be an awkward pause each time a song loops, and the loop points themselves are often not in the correct spots. it's minor but it can be a little jarring, especially if you like sitting in spots like the outer wall to soak the music and visuals in for a while.

the problem with the new music is that it's been radically stripped away glitches. there are many instruments that should be there but aren't, apparently drums being the biggest loss. when people complain about the new music being too subdued or say it sounds like it's missing something, it's not just their opinion, it really is missing something. i'm hoping nicals can patch the game up and at least give europe a perfect version, and if it works out then there'll be hope for a US update. i know starfox was updated once, anyone know the reason behind that?

I have began noticing that when a ton of weapon upgrade crystals are on the screen that the sounds they make become irritating >.<

Finally getting this game when I get a points card tomorrow. The anticipation is killing me!

Ok, so are there any options on hard mode? Is it ALWAYS no items and health? 'Cause that blows.

Check out my classy comics.

It's...hard mode. What more do you want?
