So what do you guys think of the demo's of the games. Are you gonna get any after playing the demo? Or are you just going to skip it.

I already own Zombie Panic in Wonderland and Jett Rocket. So on to the ones I didn't have:

  • Furry Legends: This game was on my list and after the demo, I'm glad that I can cross it off. I love the humor and the graphics are okay. But the controls aren't very good. Attacking an enemy is really awkward and the platfroming itself isn't really precise as well. I died four times in a row on the exact same spot (after preforming a dash move). I didn't like it and for 1000 Points, there are much, much better platformers out there. So I will skip Furry Legends based on the demo.
  • ThruSpace: The first time I play it, I didn't like it. Now that I've played through it a few times more, I'm kinda beginning to like it a bit more. It's interesting to try tricks, but the controls aren't really working for me. Trying to flip the pieces feels really weird because of the extra dimensions. I'm assuming getting to the end as quick as possible isn't the goal of the game, so explaining tricks in the demo would have been a must. I don't see anything great in it, so unfortunately. This is another one that goes of my list.

So how about you guys, did the demo's persuade you to go on a shopping spree. Or did the new demo's save you money.

I don't think so (Looked around yesterday), they'll probably arrive this Monday. Unless NoA is cruel

I already have Jett Rocket and can only recommend it to everyone who needs a good platformer. I still downloaded the demo and "unlocked" 5 achievements.

After playing the demo of ThruSpace I want it even more. The demo actually has some value as you can repeat the first two stages as long as you want and work on your highscores. The controls would be too easy if it was just up, down, left and right. Thanks to A and B there's some challenge. Definately need more practice on this one. Will be purchased with my next Wii Points card.

Zombie Panic in Wonderland is quite cool. I think I'll get it some time but I recently I got a few exceptional shooters on the Wii (Sin&Punishment: Successor of the Skies and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles), so I'm stuffed with quality hardcore zapping for now.

I don't know what to make of Furry Legends. Indeed, there are better platformers on the WiiWare service that should be played first: LostWinds 1&2, And Yet It Moves, Jett Rocket, NyxQuest, BIT.TRIP RUNNER; Max & the Magic Marker, Bubble Bobble Plus!, etc.
Furry Legends needs more polish, (pun to the Polish developers not intended).

Just worked my way through them.
Thruspace - pick of the bunch. I can see this becoming hugely compulsive.
Jett Rocket - beautifully presented, competent, no real niggles, just nothing to make it stand out.
Zombie Panic, etc - Half decent flash game. A giggle for 5 minutes, if you're playing it online. For free.
Furry legends - Dreadful. Hopeless controls make this unplayable.

Jett Rocket: Boring as all hell. Generic 3D platformer with a generic, unlikable lead character. It's pretty, but meh. Won't buy that one.

Thruspace: Interesting, and I like the presentation, but ultimately this is a game that I wont buy. It's just not stand out enough for me, on a downloadable platform that does one thing well, and that's puzzlers. Back to Art Style I go.

Furry Legends. I will buy this game. I didn't find the controls difficult at all (in fact, I prefer these physics based platformers - the controls here remind me on Little Big Planet), and the game's character and environment is adorable. I've already played through the demo level twice.

So the demos have been very useful to me. Warned me away from a game I might have otherwise bought (thruspace), confirmed my disinterest in a second game (Jett), and suggested a game I might have otherwise not considered (Furry Legends). Good stuff

if they come out in the US, I'll be getting all of them.

That's pretty much what I thought. If only the character was interesting. Downloaded the others but haven't played them yet.

Zombie Panic in Wonderland: Although I like shooters (Metroid, Sin and Punishment), this one seemed a little bit too cheap. It could easily have been an online flash game. 1000 Points for that seems at least overpriced, 500 seams reasonable. I could have bought this game if I hadn't played the demo, but the demo made sure I am not going to buy this.
Jett Rocket: This game is pretty good, and the good part for the developers is that the demo doesn't show the negative aspect of the game: the length. It's too bad it is so short, but I enjoyed every moment of the demo. I expect that this game will be downloaded many times because of the demo.
Furry Legends: I liked the graphics and style very much. However, the bad attack controls are really annoying. Furthermore, this game has 5 levels, meaning that this was 1/5 of the game already! So now the game costs 1000 points for four levels. That's really too short. Again, the length isn't shown in the demo so this game could also profit from the demo.
ThruSpace: This is the opposite of Furry Legends and Jett Rocket. The game is pretty long, has online leaderboards and a good replay value. The game is also pretty fun, but the timer and the controls annoy me. The timer means that I must often choose between staying alive and risk to get more points. I hate the Wii-remote's D-pad, and when I must use it often and the game rotates the block in a way I don't want to is frustrating.

After all of these things, the best game is Jett Rocket. However, I promised myself that I will only buy long WiiWare games from now on, and Jett Rocket isn't one of them. However, Jett Rocket is getting a sequel, so maybe I'll buy that. But for now, I don't think I'll buy anything.

I'm pretty shocked by all the comments about Zombie Panic being a Flash game. Really? In which way?

Flash can't render polygons, so whoever is likening [Zombie Panic in Wonderland] to a flash game has probably confused it with another game.

I haven't got round to trying these out yet, but I think now is a good a time as any - I'll download them, then add my thoughts to this thread.

When the DEMOs came to the US last year I downloaded them all and it gave me the confidence to download games I wanted but wasn't sure about.
I hope we get more DEMOs in the US it's great to play something before you spend $10 on it!

ThruSpace: I quite like it. But I'm not sure how long this will last me as I get bored of puzzle games quickly. And it costs 1000? Points I think which I could use elsewhere.
Furry Legends: I also liked it but I hate the controls and after reading the comments here it is a very short game and we're getting 1/5 of it for free and the rest also costs 1000 points. No buy for me.
Jett Rocket: I think I would buy this when I have the spare points. A decent platformer but is also short apparently.
Zombie Panic: No opinion because this game hasn't been released in Australia so no demo for it here.

I love Nintendo releasing demos but I think these ones arent going to get as much sales as last years ones. I had no interest in any of these games but after playing the demos I'm at least considering 2 of them so demos do work. And it gave me a reason to have another good hour of playing new games on my Wii which is always good. Lets hope Nintendo releases more demos soon! I want one for Sonic 4 and the Bit.Trip games.

Tried all the demos yesterday. I'm very happy that we're getting demos again, but the games were a bit disappointing.
ThruSpace: Interesting concept, and it would work well as a free flash game, but not something I'd buy.
Jett Rocket: Looks lovely except for the character design and nothing really wowed me about the demo. A competent but generic platformer.
Zombie Panic in Wonderland: Kinda fun, got better when I found the buttons for dodging and switching weapons, but ultimately too repetitive.
Furry Legends: Bad controls, ridiculously tiny text... yeah this was the worst of the bunch.

No sale for me, but I'm looking forward to the next batch

That was probably me started that off, I'll confess to being massively ignorant about programming languages(insert joke about programmers not going outdoors, being virgins, etc here) but I'm comparing ZPIW to a flash game due to the very simple, repetitive nature of the play, it's fun for 5-10 minutes but then you get bored.

I can only agree to this. I actually hoped they would release a demo for one of the Art Style games.

does anyone know if the decision to release demos in limited "batches" is arbitrary, or based on some limitation of the Wii?

It's arbitrary. There's no technical reason why they couldn't put up more (aside from server usage, but given that they have over 250 WW and 366 VC games up, I doubt that's an issue).

Also, for those who've played them, do the new demos load the respective Shop page after completion, like the ones last year did?
