I just got this, I love the controls, I expected it to be d-pad. It made my eyes go pretty weird quite quickly. What's the black and white musicless bit about before you die?
That's the nether dude, keep hitting blocks and fill the good bar before the bad bar runs out, and you'll jump right back (instead of dying).

exploration is killing me man...been on it for months
I hear that. The difficulty level on this song is just obnoxious, especially the boss which is mostly memorization, not skill, since there are a bunch of beats that fly by the bottom section faster than your reaction time allows and not with any warning. I'd kill for a Bit Trip Core completed save file if anyone has it. It annoys me to no end that I've paid for the game in full and am not allowed to play the game in full. Why developers cling to this outdated concept of "unlockable content," I'll never understand.
aargh. i just spent an hour trying to get past the sixth phase in Exploration... no dice.
so then i went back to Bit.Trip Beat, and got my rear end handed to me by Growth. But Descent was soundly trounced on the first try, so yay for that. I don't entirely suck! D:

Hint for Exploration: The boss beats actually come in familiar patterns. Remember that one pattern where you hit two directions and then a third one at the end?
Um, not understanding that. I hit two directions then one at the end? Not following.
I have gotten good at the main level now, so my hope is to eventually make it through the very cool-themed, but annoyingly hard boss by luck and persistence... mostly luck.
I played Exploration and over and over all this weekend and a bit the week before... and I finally beat it, while in Nether of course... after being in Nether earlier during the boss battle...
Whoever thought of the idea of making the beats in that section count as multiple beats when missed, I don't like you.
Control is absolutely ridiculous and I failed the first section on my first try, but I'm just happy that it is available to me finally. I'll probably get someone to help me beat it eventually like I did my first time beating Growth.
EDIT: Save file of a completely unlocked Core for anyone interested, here. Copy to an SD card in the following directory (with precise attention to upper and lower case):
Copy your own save file somewhere first just to be safe, though this should be an unnecessary precaution. TBD has tested this, and it worked for her. Yay!
@vakama: Control is beautiful... and so far, much easier than Exploration was. :3

I would gladly have used a save file if given the option, Machu. It's nice to be able to complete the game at your own pace rather than being forced through hoops to see the next level. And the level ordering is truly bizarre. It took me months to beat Exploration... and only three tries to beat Control. Talk about a screwed up difficulty curve.
I'm sure it's lovely Adam, I couldn't do it though, and won't. I won't even download Core till I've done Beat. And won't download Void until I master Core. Etc...
EDIT: Let me guess, you don't mind using guide books either, pah!
I don't use guide books. There's a difference between having someone help you complete a game and having help to unlock content you've already paid for. If I would have used a save file, it would not have meant giving up on the level, just that I'd finally be able to choose levels. I paid $6, and I want $6 worth of levels. Ain't nothing wrong with that, the order I beat them in is insignificant, not exactly a plot-driven game.
And let me remind you, while I said I would not mind using another save file, I in fact did not. I beat both games on my own, and meanwhile you're still not done the first one, so why don't you just crawl away in shame right about now?
