Topic: Bit Trippy Seizure Enducing Fun

I downloaded Bit. Trip: BEAT early this morning and we have been playing it off and on all day.
I have to ask. Does anyone else get a little dizzy after playing this for a while?
Also do you have to unlock Decent & Growth every time you boot the game?

@jpfan: are you dizzy because your eyes are no longer tracking the movement on the screen? that happens to me sometimes with DDR, movie credits, and other things where you're constantly tracking things moving only in one direction. just make sure you take regular breaks (as you said you're doing already, keep playing it off and on instead of one big, extended sitting), and no, you don't have to unlock descent and growth every time you play. Once you've beaten it and gotten a high score, it'll be unlocked for you forever. :3

For some reason I have to unlock decent each time I boot up.... Is it because I don't have a high enough score?

I think they put a save file up on their site that you can download and unlock all the levels due to the oversight in the save feature that requires you to get a high score to keep a level unlocked. At least, that's what I heard.

Really?! Wow, I didn't know that, not quite sure how you could complete a level without getting a high score but hey ho, at least there is a fix, kinda. 0_o

Has anyone beat Growth btw? I just need to hear that one person has done it, and it'll spur me on to victory.

You can definitely beat levels without high scores. I've done it many times. It's extremely frustrating in Beat.

EDIT: I have beaten Growth with a second player helping, never solo, though I'll probably beat Growth solo long before I even get to the boss of level 2 in Core. That game is absurdly hard.

it happens when you fill your leaderboard with high scores before you manage to finally beat the level. It is entirely possible for you to beat the level and not have a high enough score to beat your own scores from times when you didn't beat the level. :3

Once you learn the patterns the "OMG I'm going to have a seizure" feeling starts to dissipate. The flashing green pixels are still an eyesore though.

The way the scoring works, usually you get your highest scores based on how far you go before you start missing beats, and you probably won't score many points toward the end of a stage when it's your first time there and you're missing lots of beats, so it's very possible to beat a level for the first time and not get a high score if you didn't have a great run at the start of the stage.

I've beaten BOTH games, but I needed my sister to help me with the boss. And don't worry Adam, you'll beat Exploration. Now when's VOID coming out?

If you had any idea how many times I've tried it, you wouldn't say that so confidently.

Exploration somehow makes Growth look easy.

Uh, I don't understand why or how I should "believe you." I've played both for myself. I know first-hand which is harder for me.

Ouch this game is also killing me right now. I had the same experience. I'm trying to get through Decent to unlock the last one, I can tell it's just a matter of memorizing, for the most part but it's hard to play more than once in a sitting anyway.

Machu

@BleachFan888: Thank you, and well done. I know I shall beat it, one day. O_o

@Ren: I know what you mean, I can handle two attempts max. That game over screen is so jarring, I often have to stop myself throwing the wii-mote in a tantrum.

I have still to beat Decent in Beat, I get frustrated easily with repeating things I have already done in a game so after playing for nearly 10 minutes only to fail I lose all desire to try again straight away, it's still a great game to play every now and again though.

As for the original question the only time it has made me dizzy was when I played it drunk, a blur of dots, lines and colours, it looked pretty but my gameplay was far from pretty

shake_zula

I just got this, I love the controls, I expected it to be d-pad. It made my eyes go pretty weird quite quickly. What's the black and white musicless bit about before you die?
