While not a huge fan of "chibification", I love everything else about the style.

I like it. If you watch the off screen video of Shante and the Pirates curse her dialogue portrait looks similar to the 1/2 genie model.

Nah. She's still more sexualized in Pirate's curse.

As far as cartoon style goes, I don't think the opposite of chibi has to be... provocative in nature?

But if I had to throw my hat into the ring, the chibi style is more endearing.

About Shantae's redesign, this is what WayForward said on the matter:

Hi everyone! Thank you for the very positive feedback on this color scheme. The notes about the costume are also fun to read. Some trivia for you...

The night time colors are meant to be like the underwater or nighttime scenes in shows like 1980's GI Joe and Transformers, or like the night time scenes in many Animated Disney Classics (like Aladdin) .

Regarding some other design elements, these were arrived at by drawing the character large, looking something like the pixel sprite. Then it was shrunk down until it was tiny on screen and edited at a micro-sized view. Body parts where exaggerated until you could clearly see her eyes, face, navel, and hip-tilt direction even at a great distance from camera. Then it was enlarged again, and cleaned up. This is the reason for the bowling pin shaped body, the very tall eyes, the long torso, and black triangular pants. She was designed for maximum contrast and readability on screen no matter how far we pull back the camera. This way we could have her battle a boss that's truly colossal, or solve a puzzle that requires an extremely zoomed out view (think Harmony of Despair).

I missed the pixel art of it even though I never played the series.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Well there is a new Shantae coming to 3DS in November that uses pixel art.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

So, today they announced that Inti-Creates (Mega Man 9-10, Mega Man Zero 1-4, Mighty No. 9) is collaborating with WayForward on both Shantae Pirate's Curse and Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero! I have to admit, I could have never seen that coming.

I became a early-adopter for unknown reasons, I had just played out DuckTales: Remastered and thought it to be mediocere but still i put my dimes on this.. which I today am glad for because i have now experienced Wayforwards Mighty Switch Force which is wonderful and I think Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has the potential to become as great (if not even greater) because as MSF its their own doing and not some licensed-based shovelware they are making for the dough.

Good news and bad news.
Good news: For those unaware, the game has been funded.
Bad news: The stretch goals if not met wont be coming over. (no duh won't they put the unmet goals in later as DLC?) Um no.
More good news: Even if the kickstarter ends there's a paypal service that's open for a couple months that'll help reach the stretch goals.

So, let's see what happens.
