I'm just asking because I haven't watched before Netflix on either console but I am planing on buying a Netflix premium streaming plan soon, and I wanna know if I should invest in one of these consoles or not.
@Meowpheel I traded it in for a New Nintendo 3DS XL and I traded that in for Gamestop Store-Credit when I heard about the upcoming release of the NES Classic Edition.
@John_1029 So you want a apple tv not a gaming console if you just want to watch netflix get an amazon fire tv or apple tv both are cheaper then getting another wii u and if you wanted a nes classic you don't need one all the games(or at least most) and more are on the wii u and 3ds so why did you sell any of those and you can play all(if not most) and more on the go with the 3ds

Well, the thing is, I found an original Nintendo Wii on eBay for a reasonably cheap price, and it comes with everything but a Wii Remote Plus and an Official Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Wireless Adapter Connector, but I've found those on eBay as well, for reasonably cheap prices, too!

It's late, and I've had a couple of beers, but this is still a pain to read. There's a reason why interpunction exists!
@OP: You don't own a PC or laptop you can link to your TV? That's probably the cheapest alternative. Don't get either console if you just want to watch Netflix.
So let me get this straight you don't want to play games or anything else but you are buying a console ONLY for Netflix when there are alot cheaper devices like a Roku stick out there.
Congratulations!!! You have earned a Zoidberg

If the choice is between Wii and Wii U, then Wii is the better option. You get to use the Wii Remote for control, instead of the clunky and terrible Gamepad, and the Wii app is generally faster and more reliable. At least, this is based on my recent experience watching Netflix on the Wii app. I haven't used the Wii U app in a long while.
@Tasuki How did you come to that conclusion? John_1029 didn't say anything like that.
Bumping this topic to make others feel bad is bad and, oh you know the rest.
Anyway, I'm sure the OP did imply they only wanted the console for Netflix and only Netflix. I'm not sure if it was a collective hallucination or they deleted/edited their comments.
Anyway, I don't think there's any reason for this thread to remain open.
