Hello Nintendo fans! ;P

I would like to let you know about the game that I'm currently developing: Freezeme.

Untitled

Untitled

FreezeME is a 3D platformer deliberately designed to resemble platformers from the N64 era.

Anything new?
The main distinguishing mechanic is that the protagonist "R" can take pictures and “freeze” for a short period of time enemies and objects, generating new and interesting gameplay situations.

What is the plot about?
“R” is hot on the trail of her best friend, “M,” who has been kidnapped by the evil Fat the Cat who is attempting to create a “Free-Dog-World”.

On what platforms are you planning to release?
PC, MAC and Linux.
Consoles might be considered at a later stage.

And the requirement for those?
Windows XP with SP2 or later, Ubuntu Linux, version 10.10 or later o Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.
Graphics card with DirectX 9 level (shader model 2.0) capabilities.
Any card made since 2004 should work.
1GB RAM and 5GB FREE SPACE

Release Date?
Early 2015.

I have just uploaded the game to Steam Greenlight here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=231340170

I would love to see this in a Nintendo console, and getting the Steam approval would be of great help to achieve this!

Hope you find this interesting!

Thank you for your support!
Rainy Night Creations.

looking good! just a question, does it use vertex shader? because my sucky inbuilt GPU probably doesn't have it(unless version 0 is better than nothing)

Heh, indies reviving those 3D platformers is becoming all the rage these days. I don't really mind because the plat-formers of 3D are few and far between these days. I crave 'em! Good luck with your project.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Seriously, why do people insist on copying formula from one of the most unrefined eras in gaming? What's next? Games like the ones on the Atari 2600?

Looks really promising. Love me a good 3D platformer. Have you worked on any other games, or is this your first?

@CanisWolfred There is already a bunch of Atari 2600 inspired games out there.

Actually that's a bad example since unlike Atari 2600, N64 style platformers were already perfect years ago with Super Mario 64, and then every other developer started getting it right throughout the PS2/GCN/Xbox era. Honestly the reason why you don't see them anymore is mostly because there's not a lot else that can be improved without radically changing the style. And I'd personally rather wait for that departure in style than play a game that's trying to mimic the days when platformers were defined by collecting tons of useless knick-knacks and bad camera controls...

@GuSilverFlame shader model 2.0 was introduced on graphic cards back in 2004/5, how old is yours?

@Captain_Toad Thank you!

@CanisWolfred buuhhh! Haha, now seriously I understand what you mean, however the definition of n64 platformers is very wide, for me it means freedom and fun nothing else.
I won't hide the fact that you have to collect items in game, but the game has a huge emphasis on solving slow pace puzzles too.
And hey! The game is still on alpha stage, I'm open to suggestions and feedback!

@Guitardude7 I would love to see in on Wii U too and now is easier than ever to get an indie dev license from Nintendo. The only thing preventing that from happening is this game getting enough attention so I can make a case , spread the word!

@misscelan mine's not that old(2010) but lowest end, the pixel shader is 2.0 the biggest drawback is the vertex shader...

@Xilef thanks for the nice comments! I've done some smaller stuff mainly flash games. This is my biggest endeavour so far

@GuSilverFlame If you know the specific model I can look it up

@misscelan well it's an intel g33 g31 express chipset family
thanks! and sorry for the trouble!(kinda ashamed for asking help since I'm a Computer Engineering student, though. XD )

Haha, it is a confusing for me too!
According to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_3100 your card supports shader model 3.0, but apparently it has problems with the vertex shader if the application runs on opengl, my game runs on Unity and this pulls Directx on windows, so in theory is a yes, but all the information I'm reading about that card on internet is a bit confusing oO

I guess I'll have to give it a try when it comes out!

@misscelan - After playing Banjo-Kazooie for the first time I years, I can get what you're saying now, about the era being more open and exploratory. I never really appreciated B-K as a kid, mainly because there's way too much stuff to collect that I could never comprehend it all at the time. That said, it was a game that really influenced other games at the time, along with Super Mario 64. I still hold that too many games that tried it at the time screwed up something important (if not a lot of things), and even Banjo-Kazooie doesn't have a perfect camera like Super Mario 64 did (well, almost perfect), while by the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox, they figured it all out and we had games where I wasn't constantly cursing the game when I hit a hard part, because then those lost lives and screwed up jumps felt like they were on me.

I probably don't have to say this, but definitely pay extra attention to the camera and its angles throughout the level. I just feel like that's the single most important aspect of a 3D platformer, along with controls, since that's the thing that you rely on most when playing the game.

Sounds reasonable. I'll pick it up sometime if it is greenlit and the reviews aren't awful.

Thanks for the nice comments mamp! Just released a video with some updates for your enjoyment

This week I’ve been working on improving the dialogue system, populating the first level, adding some new NPCs and last but not least, I have modified the post processing filters, now the game looks more colorful and vibrant!

Also, I’m going to release an alpha demo for free on March 17th

Finally, did I tell you that we are on greenlight and we would really appreciate you upvote ? Here:
