I downloaded it but I have never used Crunchyroll before. Is there a subscription charge? I prefer dubbed anime also, is there a good amount of dubbed or is it mostly subbed?
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Is there ads? I mostly watch online on sites that don't shove many ads down your throat.
If you have a Crunchyroll account, you won't get ads.
If you don't have one, you'll get ads, and you can't watch in HD, and for most shows (except for Sailor Moon Crystal) you have to wait 7 days before you see them.
Also, your subscription does not cover manga titles, that's a separate subscription, annoyingly.

Mostly subbed. The only dubs they have is Rurouni Kenshin and Cardcaptor Sakura.
That is interest. I share an account with my brother but I hardly use the service since all the anime and shows are subbed, personal unfair trade for my Netflix info since I prefer dubbed anime (don't judge me too hard).

Mostly subbed and it works similar to Hulu in the sense that it's free on PC and Mac to a certain extent of their list but you need a paid membership ($6.95) to view on all other devices.
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

Ah...well I guess I will stay with the sites of the web...
I torrent because you can't beat that convenience and versatility. I still subscribe though because it gives me peace of mind to compensate content creators. The features are also nifty. It's a good service, one that I believe deserves support. Some companies, like Nintendo, are dinosaurs and try to throw lawyers and lobbyists at piracy to "fight" it. Others, like Crunchyroll and Netflix, "beat" piracy by trying to provide a better service at a fair price, and that's the method that I want to get behind, even if I do have piratey tendencies myself.

Unless you only torrent anime that are also available on their website you aren't compensating for anything.

It's actually not quite that simple. Internet traffic is a lot of moving parts and all is considered by publishers. For example, Game of Thrones is the most pirated TV show of all time, and that was influential on HBO's decision to approve a $60mil budget for a season.
But apart from that, between streaming subscriptions and buying of blurays, yes, I do compensate content creators generously.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I stopped torrenting anime because I need that valuable space for games and pr0n. Lots of pr0n. Could probably start my own public aquarium filled entirely with pr0ns....
Now that I've given the app a go, I'll just comment on the UI side of things.
1. Touch screen on the gamepad is not used. I mean, already in the login/registration screen you show a web-like form, and you need to move the focus to the form controls by the D-pad instead of tapping the gamepad screen.
2. To change most of your preferences - or even payment options that'll take place after the two-week trial period - you need to log in via their website. You cannot do it in-app.
I haven't tried CR out on other platforms, but the first bullet is the type of issue is what I bothered me already in Hyrule Warriors. If there's a button shown on the gamepad, I should be allowed to just press it if it weren't disabled.
Yep that does annoy (put Smash on the top of my list of games that annoy by not supporting touchscreen in menus). Other annoyances are lack of genres (available in the iOS app) and any kind of ratings (CERO should be readily available I would think). Good thing is if you have a premium account they respond to communications - also good for requesting content. Looks very worthwhile and a fiver a month is well worth it to me.
I've had the "hard drive stopped communicating" error after watching a couple of episodes and had to force restart the system. Happens regularly - no issues playing games for hours so I don't think my hard drive is on the way out.
