This game was apparently also heavily inspired by classics such as the Wonder Boy series, Zelda II, and even more recent games such as La-Mulana which was the highest rated WiiWare game on Metacritic at one point!

im not much into cuddling, however ill be getting this game.
this game also appears to be heavily inspired by the metroidvania kickstarter game called heart forth alicia.

chronicles of teddy has turned out to be goty material in my book...however the sound keeps dropping in and out in this game. i tried to re download it in hopes of solving this issue but it didnt fix this, they better fix this because besides that this game is freaking AWESOME.
i havent seen anyone claim to have this problem but me so far. i wonder how many times im going to have to re download this game until it fixes itself. i was looking forward to playing it for weeks and the day i get to it of all games it had to be this one.

@ogo79: I'm experiencing that issue as well as constant hard-freezes, which is a shame as it would be one of the best eShop titles available on the service if it weren't for the game being totally broken...

i cant find anything else on this, im assuming in the next few days this problem will be surfaced everywhere, the game just came out so i give it a few days to expect more people having issues as well.
this better get fixed asap. this game is very awesome and its such a shame this is happening...

I've had the game freeze on me around a dozen times and the sound cuts out even more often, I received a review code for the game to review on a certain website, but honestly I think that I should hold off on that review to avoid damaging my Wii U. It's really unfortunate, but I'm so not sacrificing my Wii U to review the game. Will probably publish a preview instead in the meantime.
I've also had the game freeze on me (causing me to lose minutes of progress) and have experienced audio glitches. I've posted on Miiverse pointing out this issue and also sent a few emails Nintendo's way. I tweeted to the dev and Aksys Games but they both are giving me radio silence. I suspect they'll update eventually since they seem to maintain the PC version.
The game is spectacular otherwise and people have told me that the PS4 version doesn't have issues. I'd suggest consider picking that one up or waiting for the Wii U version to be patched. Reportedly, the PC version also has issues.

heh...according to their twitter posting all they have been up to is shooting links to reviews left and right on how fabulous this game is and announcing it is now available in europe despite the wii u version having audio bugs. probably bed bugs. one of their french messages translated to this:
"The WiiU version of Chronicles of Teddy contains a sound bug, we have corrected and submitted to Nintendo. Sorry for the troubles !"
yeah so basically they are saying "oh well we did our part, now go bug nintendo"
they have been sitting around doing twitches, promoting their broken game and playing the new doom all the while with their fingers up their a****.
if toyota has a recall on certain model cars because of a break problem they are going to stop manufacturing that model car and recall them to fix them or suffer a bottleneck of problems that snowball into a big pile of horse dug.
look at yer game? pretty much all we can do since the audio falls out after around 20 minutes of play. sure cant listen to yer game thats for damn sure.
fix the audio bugs.

btw- i wouldnt buy this game until they actually fix it first. i guess someone at nintendo didnt show up to work friday or they were like oh well its friday we will fix it monday.
being that i have the game, when its fixed im not sure how i will even know. im wondering am i going to have to keep re downloading it or what...

So, this is genuinely a fantastic game from a design standpoint. One of the best I've played on the e-Shop.
That said, the bugs are very real, and now I've ran into one that's as unfortunate as they get.
I was in the third boss, and lost a life. As you may know, when you lose a life, you lose quite a hefty amount of marbles, so I decided to just turn it off and go back to my save file afterwards. To my surprise, once I booted the game, my save file was nowhere to be seen.
I'm not really sure what happened, but oh well, here's a cautionary tale for you. If you happen to lose a life, don't turn the game off without saving.
I'm really bummed out, because I was having just the best gaming Sunday with the game, and now I'll probably just abandon it instead of redoing my seven hours of progress.
@ogo79: Thanks! I appreciate the warnings. Same thing happened with The Binding of Isaac, it was an amazing game, but the game breaking freezes (you had to restart the N3DS!) sometimes made me want to chuck my N3DS against the wall. It got to the point I would either die or the game would freeze so I lost confidence in even wanting to play. Eventually they did patch it, but the game still had glitches!
The best thing to do maybe, is when the Nintendo Life review is for you to post your observations in the review comments. Hopefully the makers will take notice and fix more than a few audio bugs!
@Hey-Cha-La: Well, what do you know: I actually decided to restart from the beginning, and last night managed to surpass my previous progress. I guess this is a testament to just how amazing the game is - but now I'm making extra sure to keep copies of my save file on the other slots.
