Topic: I wish they'd release WWF: No Mercy

Does anyone remember playing WWF: No Mercy for the N64. I would love it if they released this for the Wii U Viritual Console, and it would be even better if they included online play. I honestly don't think any of the WWE games release since then really are on par with this game, even though it's nearly 15 years old. I think it was published by THQ but developed by a company called AKI.

Licensed games don't generally get released on Virtual Console because the publisher has to pay extra for the license to do so which isn't worth the money.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Besides, the game is probably too violent now.

@Rexcalibr I never played this, but I did play the crap out of WCW/NWO Revenge. It was also developed by AKI, so I'm pretty sure it had the same control scheme. It was great to play with a group. It was probably the best control method for a wrestling game I had played since the old Pro Wrestling on the NES.

That said, I don't expect it to ever pop up on the Virtual Console, since WCW is no more, and THQ is no more, and due to the aforementioned prohibitive licensing expense.

Well, WCW is owned by the WWE now so technically, they probably could release a WCW game if they really wanted to but yes, it played very similarly to WCW/NWO Revenge. The control scheme was pretty much the same. Both were amazing games. The WWE 2k games these days developed by Yukes (still published by THQ) just don't compare to them, and it's 2016.

If they developed a wrestling games that had WWE 2k graphics with the AKI (No Mercy and WCW/NWO Revenge control scheme and game play), that's all they'd need to make a great wrestling game. WWE 2k 2015 and 2016 were both really bad games in my opinion. I've given up on the series, and it's sad that the entire wrestling simulation genre of video games has pretty much went downhill since the N64 games.

I doubt that's the reason. Like someone said Bayonetta has a lot of sexual themes and they've released Resident Evil 4 for the virtual console, which is far more violent than any WWE game I've played.

I doubt the game will make it on to the VC due to THQ being gone, and WWE and 2K sports probably wanting people to buy the newest WWE 2K game. Besides, the WWE's got enough problems right now with the brand split.

There's a ton of fantastic wrestling games I'd love to see on the VC. No Mercy, Wrestlemania 2000, WCW Vs NWO World Tour, WCW/NWO Revenge

@ogo79 I just use a gas generator exposing everyone around me to the carbon monoxide fumes and the smell of gasoline.
