I've watched the video on the Eshop and it looks horrific on my TV.Without online or multiplayer I can't understand why anyone would want to download this? I love Kart,it's my favourite series but playing through the single player cups is zero fun.Stupid release if you ask me!
Which leads to the general question of whether virtual console DS games will have online features or not? Since VC titles have never had online features before.
Hopefully so... it'd be pretty awesome playing MKDS online again.

I cannot understand why they chose Mario Kart DS as the second official launch title for DS simply because of the lack of multiplayer. Surely a Fire Emblem game or a Mario game would have made more sense?
What I'd really like to see for DS VC is DSiWare on the Wii U - there were some cracking games there!
They seriously rereleased a Mario Kart game with no multiplayer? What is it with Nintendo and being idiots with multiplayer in games?
They also released N64 games on Wii without memory pak or rumble pak support. Now they can give N64 games memory pak and rumble pak support.
Some things just cost more money than they're worth. And that cost is passed to us, the consumer. Multiplayer isn't impossible for Nintendo to give us, but I don't think they are at a point where they have the time and funding to invest in doing so. Adding multiplayer may get a few more sales but it wouldn't give them a massive increase of sales.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Maybe so, but this VC offering is half of what it should be; it's just not complete without multiplayer. I am very patiently waiting for a MK-64 with 4-player option. My friends are too old to understand the more recent kart games...
I'm thinking that they will eventually get multiplayer into these games. It is technically possible to link 3DS with download play or once they get a 2nd GamePad going, which they said is a planned thing, but obviously won't happen right away(like everything else they do).

Not only will you never see dual gamepad multiplayer as the Wii U moves into its later years (It has been years now, with no sign of anything underway, with the focus increasingly on the Wii U's successor), you're never going to see the Wii U being able to run two instances of a DS game simultaneously.
If it's emulation, clearly it's using enough resources where they can't even bump the rendering resolution up to something more palatable. Nintendo isn't pushing out DS software out at its native resolution just for the heck of it; they'd love it if games like Mario Kart DS could be displayed in all their untapped glory, freed from the limitations of the resolution of the DS. So there's no reason to think that there's enough underutilized resources there to run an entire second instance of this emulator.
And then there's the fact that the Wii U has a dual core ARM9 onboard, integrated into its GPU. That quite conceivably is allowing it to run the ARM7/ARM9 processes of the DS code natively, without the need of any software emulation at all. And if that's the case, obviously the Wii U isn't going to just sprout two more ARM processors in order to run two instances of Mario Kart DS simultaneously with.
Wireless play is its only prayer on this console. And it seems reasonable that if they were going to implement that with their handhelds, they'd of had it ready for Mario Kart DS at launch after so much time has passed since these plans were first announced. Never say never, but there's not much reason to be hopeful for a resolution.

You're just BSing, though. They said they were working on it like they always say they do about everything. N64 just barely showed up on VC, and it's been 2 years and they probably kept N64 games off limits on purpose for whatever reasons they may have. They could upres the games to run better on Wii U, but at this rate, they're just letting stuff drop slow on purpose, basically.
From what I read, NX isn't a successor, but more of a companion console that will compliment your Wii U and probably QoL.
No, I'm just exercising logic. If not, I'd be one disappointed gamer after reading things around here about 4 screen GBA multiplayer being a sure thing on the Wii U once those downloads rolled out, dual gamepad support being a shoe-in for Mario Kart 8, etc (Those sound familiar? ).
Where dual gamepad multiplayer is concerned, they talked about it as being an option in the weeks leading up to release and then afterwards for a short while, with nothing said since that amounts of much. So there sure doesn't appear to be any reason to hold out hope. Of course it could happen, but we're talking about its chances and it sure doesn't appear good.
