Ok, so I've got Super Mario RPG in the Wii Menu of my Wii U, will I be able to play VC games that are in the Wii Menu with a Pro Controller, or do I need to get a classic controller?

You need a classic controller

Nintendo need to put an update to simply show in the gamepad the Wii mode, so this way we can even use the gamepad like a classic controller or use the wiimote to point direct the gamepad or use the touch screen like the wiimote pointer.

You realize the OS for the Wii Mode is separate from the Wii U mode? This will never happen.

Yeah, Mattrick was an idiot.

If the DSi was able to "trasnfer" the games that were downloaded to it, and have them integrated in the same menu on the 3DS, why couldn't the Wii U?

The Wii U is more "powerful" than the 3DS, but who knows. It would have been nice to have the downloaded games on the Wii on the Wii U menu.

I'd even give up gamepad support for those titles as long as they were integrated on the same menu.

Well the DSi to 3DS jump was really only half a generation gap and DSi was possibly created with the idea of transfering to a future system and OS. Wii to Wii U is a much bigger generation gap where Wii downloadable games service may not have been able to be created in such a way to be compatible with future systems and OS.

This is just speculation

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@PKpunky: It's not gonna happen. Nintendo designed the Wii U to have essentially a Wii inside that operates separately.

I didn't say it was going to happen. It's just weird they couldn't integrate it since the menus aren't that different.

The Wii's backward compatibility with the gamecube didn't require a boot to a different menu, just pop in the disc and it read automatically.

I can only assume that the Wii OS was Nintendo's first foray into OS integration with gaming systems, which meant a lot more restrictions compared to the DSi.

It is incredible that the DS menu is integrated with the 3DS menu while the Wii U doesn´t includes in the menu all Wii downloads.

The sames goes fot the eshop. The 3DS eshop includes and mix all DSiware games with 3DS games, but the Wii U eshop forgot that exist the Wii shop (with more than 600 games between VC and Wiiware).
