You actually need to spend the money and have a friend visit. At least all the sources I have visited say it is impossible without it, unless the game glitches out.
Of course, they could easily fix it for the VC release so you don't need to be visited by a friend if they wanted to. It wouldn't be the first time they modify a VC game.
I actually have no idea why the local wireless multiplayer options are locked, I mean, wouldn't the WiiU be perfectly capable of communicating with the real DS games or other nearby WiiUs without problems?
I'm sure it could be done. Nintendo's just not doing it, for some reason. I gave up trying to figure out what they were thinking, at least regarding VC releases, a long LONG time ago. smh
It would still be pretty awesome if you could just go online only on the weekends or something like that and even connect with other people using thjer dss

No. They won't be doing that. Its not the Nintendo way. And not everybody could play multiplayer Animal Crossing back in the day. I certainly couldn't, yet I enjoyed it anyway. I also didn't have anybody to trade with for Pokémon Blue either, yet I enjoyed playing the game anyway. The trading features of the 3DS release of GB Pokémon will be lost on me as I won't have anybody to trade with, nor do I own a second DS to trade with myself. Lack of multiplayer doesn't ruin a VC game IMO.

This is what I was concerned would happen someday. This game lacking wifi has a bunch of noticeable smears on it in virtual console form. Not being able to get the biggest store, also constantly passing unusable wifi objects like the phone or the bus/train station (cant remember which one this has), not being able to take full advantage of notes in a bottle, and a handful of other awkward things. Enjoyable for some but I feel like I'd miss these features and feel awkward about it. Total isolation, Prison Village. Unable to leave or have visitors. Alone in the universe. Unless of course I'm wrong? I'm hoping.
Nope. I prefer to play games on my Game Pad. Sure the screen is bigger with the TV but lying back in bed and using the Game Pad is much more comfortable. Plus I imagine Nintendo's reasoning is that every game has touch screen controls so there's no point in putting the bottom screen on the TV.

Hopefully we get Animal Crossing Wild World no later than the week Dec 5 is in. That's the 10th anniversary And hopefully they fix the DS screen settings by then too. The only reason I want to play Ds Virtual Console is to play it on the TV like if it was a console game. I been waiting years to do that! its pretty awesome so far with the games that you mainly look at the top screen since you can't just put the bottom screen on the TV.
i noticed that this one was not leaked on wiiubrew, as the others have been, so anything could happen now to later.
also i don't think this is out in japan yet (i could be wrong.)
