Why would anyone vote for it? No one has played it. Well, except Corbie and maybe James, but we all know their favorite game of the year was Namco's Go Vacation.

@Adam I think you should pay attention to the "spike.com" part of that URL. It's a necessary component to realizing why you shouldn't care at all.

Either way Skyward Sword is not getting Game of the Year. It's Spike TV people.

How can it even be a nominated it hasnt even been released yet. I would laugh so hard if it won and than it ended up being a crappy game. I know it wont but it would still be funny.

You guys do realize that the voting is for who you think should win and has no bearing on the outcome that's decided by reviewers who's already played these games. Anywho batman is going to win.

There are also plenty of people who haven't played the game yet who have already declared it "not as good as Twilight Princess", so whatever. V8_Ninja summed it up very nicely.

Ocarina has been surpassed long ago. Zelda fans make me sick sometimes.
Believe it or not it is okay to like every game in the series. Twilight Princess included.

I don't even care for this award. The VGAs is about as official as if I myself would go out and pick a game as GOTY. They're just crap.

I'll just follow my favorite sites and watch their GOTY awards. At least they'll have better reasons and winners. VGAs are just painful to even watch.

It will probably end up being my favourite game of the year.
I wouldn't expect it to win too many awards over some of the games on the 'HD' consoles... but I don't care.
As long as I like it, that's all that matters.

Zelda could never win the GOTY as brilliant as it could be. That honour is always reserved for those big budget other format games. I think Skyrim is probably set to win. I 'm not intersted in playing it (I can't - my computer isn't nearly good enough to run it), but it appears to have the right mix of flashy graphics, budget and crazed hype to walk away with the award.

It might get a courtesy nomination, but Nintendo games are largely ignored in awards ceremonies.

Also, unless you are able to play all the games in the shortlist (and if you're a Nintendo only current console owner, good luck with that - likewise, if you're a Sony/Xbox only person), you shouldn't be able to vote. But people do, and it becomes more about who you want to see win, rather than who should win.

I completely agree, the GOTY awards on most sites are crap so I only care about what is GOTY in my opinion and GOTY awards and discussions on better sites like this one.

The premise of this thread shows why you can't really take internet polls seriously. Nintendo6400 is far from the first to encourage vote rigging.

but seriously, after seeing last years this whole "game awards" On Spike thing is a joke.

I guess the reason I was saying that was because multi-platform sites are normally bias against games on Nintendo consoles when it comes to awards and often only nominate a Mario and/or Zelda game and ignore all the other great games that were released on Nintendo consoles that year. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them only nominate those games just to show that they know Nintendo consoles exist and to keep Nintendo fans at bay.

its not bias its common sense. The Ideal solution would be in the GOTY would be to have a four pick selection. 1 from each of the big three and I third party. But due to Wii being Underpowed many really Mutiplatform games are in the running and that's more of a well what could we do than bias.

Also with that Logic the VGA's are Bias by not having any Mircosoft games in the running for GOTY.

@Shinji_70 Its clearly bias rather than common sense if there are 7 games on non-Nintendo consoles and 1 that is on a Nintendo console and its not just because of third parties not releasing their multi-platform games on Wii when some of them are only on one of the two other consoles. I know that there aren't as many as 7 games nominated in the poll that this thread is about but I was talking about multi-platform sites doing GOTY awards in general and used an example of one I have seen before and many GOTY awards from multi-platform sites.

Sorry, but I have to go with Portal 2. You know, the game I've actually played.
